Good Morning Gang....

No, unfortunately I didn't run away with the pool boy... DARN..
I've been following along with little to contribute.

The house from hell is finished!!! I tore up the carpets and refinished the floors along with all the painting of walls and woodwork and cabinets. I don't think you would've wanted to hear me whine at the end of each day. But, thank goodness it is finished. I didn't go to the gym during this last month, with all of this I didn't lose any muscle tone

Tomorrow dh's oldest son & wife are coming for a week.. big Halloween celebration in nearby town.. DH is planning on attending the Grand Parade on Saturday..I'm sure that will poop him out!.

I haven't gained any weight through all the terrible eating I've been doing.. but, real life is back and time to start thinking of getting back on track and re-reading Beck's again and again and again.. mmmm better apply as well as read

Wishing you all a good day.. where is Alida????

Good morning. I'm so proud of myself for getting in here early. Now if the boss will stay away for awhile...

Peg: If you had seen the mess in my kitchen on Sunday you would have known why dh thought it was a nice gift. I was making twice baked fauxtatoes...there was cauliflower all over the counter, on the floor, up the walls and on the cupboards. Obviously, the mixer is not the thing to use to make them. lol We don't usually buy each other anniversary gifts...I think this was more because he still feels guilty about my taking care of his mom while on holidays.

And, I have to agree with Judy....Sweet Pea just wants attention from everyone! A brat...yup! lol

I'm going to send Alida an e-mail...it's been too long.

Barb: Good score on the tables. Funny how one thing can make a room come together.

Berta: Ahhh, the house is finished. That's got to make you feel so good. Is it rented yet or were you waiting to finish everything first?

I'm trying my darndest to get my weight down but it just isn't budging. I've upped my time on the treadmill and I'm running longer on it. Geez...I just said "I am running"....lol, never thought I would say that again.

Dh has a meeting with the Shell rep on Nov. 6th in one of the largest towns in our area. I'm thinking I might take the day off work and go with him. His meeting is for a couple of hours and I could spend them at a mall that I've never been to. It will depend on the weather of course cause if the snow is flying by then I will be staying home for sure. No sign of it yet....but it can come hard and fast.

Okay, off to send that e-mail to Alida.

Kitty Re: October '08 vets tracking(of various things!)

Hi guys,
I'm taking a *break* from some housey chores and thought I'd pop in to see who's around the fireplace. Sorry I've not been to good at checking in lately. It doesn't mean I'm not thinking of you all, though.

Bert...Yay for being finished on that house!!! Surely sounds like it was a velly, velly BIG project! And, hey...when I was removing the wallpaper from heJJ and on that dang ladder for 3 weeks straight, I didn't get in any exercise other than ladder climbing either. LOL! I think I really would've cried if I'd had to fitness walk or go to the gym on top of all the work. I bet your muscles are stronger than ever, lady! Good job!

Donna...well BIG FAT RATZ on them cancelling your leg procedure...again!
I think after it's a done deal, you should give them a little talking to!
Which food processor did you get? I don't use mine as much as I used to, but when there is a bunch of chopping or grating to do, I drag it out.

Barb...yay for your great catalog find! Somehow, I got on the Metropolitian Museum mailing list, and got a catalog from them yesterday. Hmmmm. Maybe I should give it a look-see and see what I can see!
Quote:
One of these days, we'll have to organize another convergence.
oh, yeah!!! I'm absolutely game to host again if need be!!! We should work on this....

Peg...hope you are feeling better, darlin'! You have just had a time of it lately.
I was hoping once you had your toe-zees fixed you would be able to fitness walk and swim?(CRS...was it you that was looking forward to doing water fitness/aerobics?) Now that you have a little walking partner perhaps you'd enjoy it more? Which brings me to....

I met a lady that lives on the other end of our sub-division while I was walking a few days ago. I've actually seen her many times, but I could not stop myself any longer, and finally had to ask her about her *babies* that she walks...or actually, the other way around.
She has a miniature Aussi(the other one belonged to her daughter...same breed).
They are just the sweetest little dogs I've met in a long time. She said she's always had a dog and a cat, but now only her dog, Anne.
I am TOTALLY in love with this breed. I want one!!!! Kassie and DH don't agree at this time, but we'll see who wins out. It may take me a while, but eventually, I think we'll have another furbaby in this house!

Well, gals(and Henry), our temps dropped severely this morning when a cold front moved through. Had some thunder-boomers along with it and our electricity went off briefly. We have a stiff north wind at this time, but the sun has partially peeked out, but I don't think I'll fitness walk today as there still looks to be water running down the streets...ack! I made a big pot of taco soup, so we'll be sure to stay toasty and warm.

I'll be working this Friday and I think it's also *flu shot* day at work...good timing.
Hope everyone is planning on getting one, if not already.

OK...to everyone else...hope you are well and having a good week!

(((hugs all around)))

Hey Shelley. It's a Black & Decker food processor that dh bought for me.

Could you please post your taco soup recipe? I tried to find it in the cooking section but don't think it's there. It's getting to be that time of year again when I'm going to be looking for comfort food and I think that soup might just hit the spot. Thanks.

Geez, talk about a learning curve. ITunes and I have had a three day event trying to get a book downloaded from the store and then loaded on to the Ipod. After they corrected their mistake so that I could get the download and after I finally figured out a simples way to get the book onto the IPod, everything is all better. It's amazing what you can do when you take time to read the instructions.

Good morning!

Well, Donna and Judy both e-mailed me so I thought I'd best get back on board. Yes, I was taking a little breather. The biggest reason is that I am getting up much later and by the time I make my coffee and do a few on-line jig saw puzzles (perks up my brain for the day) ... it's just about time to go upstairs and spend a few minutes with Bob. That's another reason .... Bob's schedule. I am just not getting used to Bob's hours. I see him in the morning then I kiss him goodbye and say "See you in the morning." Coming home four nights out of five to an empty house has me down in the dumps. Although I will say his new schedule (Friday and Saturday off) is much better than the old one. I live for Saturdays!

There is not a chance in He!! I can go back and read all the posts. I hope everyone has been happy and healthy!

What's this about Shelley wanting a DOG?

Hopefully, I will be back in the swing of things soon. Thank you for caring. Love you guys! XXOO

Hey, Alida! Nice to see you here. Yeah, bummer on the rescheduled life. We'll wait around for you though.

A dog, Shelley? Well, that's one way to guarantee yourself an interest in fitness walking! Like they say, "If your dog is fat, you're not getting enough exercise." When my dog-injured friend mentioned that they were considering a basset hound, I gave him an instant lecture: only if you want more medical bills! I looked up the breed on a website, then called him and read him the "downside" list: drooling, baying, shedding (big time!), disobedience (not to be trusted off a leash), stubbornness (hard to house break), hound-y odor, medical issues like ear infections....and more. I hope he was listening. But then, who does when they have already succumbed to the "cuteness" factor??

Today is bright and sunshiny. Time for MY fitness walk. Everybody be well.

Alida: HA! All it took was a gentle reminder that you are loved and worried about and you are back. Good to see you. Shift work is hard on a family, my ex husband did it for years (maybe that was a good thing. lol)

Barb: My son has a Bassett Hound and I love it to pieces. You missed one thing...hip displacia...a very expensive surgery. The baying is what gets to them. But, they wouldn't get rid of him for anything.

Shelley: I looked up that bread of dog...so cute. But, I think they grow bigger than you think. Aren't they related to the Australian Herding Dog or Heeler? They might be shedders too.

Judy: Good going on downloading that book. I'd never attempt something like that. Getting songs on my IPod is a major accomplishment for me. Probably why I listen to the same ones over and over and over.

I finally heard back from the vet on Lily's urine sample. Only took over 2 weeks. Now she says that she's waiting to hear about the biopsy of the stones before deciding on the next step. Come on! Either she still has bacteria in her urine or she doesn't. I'm thinking they figure I've got mega bucks and they can just play with me. I think I'll be stopping in there at lunchtime today and having a talk with them. This is getting old.

And my Tia is really going downhill. He's still sneezing and not eating much. But, he's going outside, purring and cuddling and not crying or seem to be in any pain so I'll just keep track of him and see what happens. I have a feeling he's not going to be around for much longer.

The scale Gods were kind to me and I've dropped just about 2 lbs. I'm not getting excited yet cause it's the same 2 lbs. that I dropped 2 weeks ago. Maybe upping my time on the treadmill and running more is helping....who knows.

Back to work...have a great day everyone.

Shelley: A Shih Tzu is an awfully cute dog! They have hair instead of fur, so don't shed. ALL pure breds have biological issues. It helps immensely if you research breeders. I did, and know that they have been working to lessen the biological issues by finding studs that are not directly related. Still, you can never be sure. I figure that if anything happened to SP now, we would live through it with her. I wouldn't miss this wonderful time with her for anything in the world. Read up and research the breed and breeders in the area. Our ms. Bren is a wonderful resource.

I am severely depressed, I think. Yesterday was just a terrible day and I ended the day by going to bed at 7:00 after crying for two hours. I'll tell about it later.

Love you all, Peg

Pegster, got any chill-out meds? Sounds like a good time to take 'em. Even with a lot going on in your life, this could be a physical symptom, not a mental one. Hope you feel better today.

Yes, it's Friday for the rest of you. I'm glad I still celebrate Sundays, as otherwise my week would be an unbroken string of days that are all alike.

Today I'm buying some groceries for the Pakistani lunch my friend and I are preparing at the church on Sunday. We're working to raise awareness of the girls' schools there sponsored by an education board related to our denomination. My friend has become very knowledgeable about all things Pakistani--and we figure food is always a good draw for an audience.

Shelley, have a good day at work.
Good thoughts to all.

Good morning!

Barb, I just glanced over a page or two and it seems like you have been very busy with less-than-fun things. How did your Dad's eye appointment go? Fingers crossed the medicine will work! And I love the catalogs from The Smithsonian. I just got one from the Art Institute of Chicago .... Your home is getting filled with carefully chosen just-right treasures!

Peg, I do hope you are feeling better. Chill-out meds are a good idea. Perhaps the downer is left over from writing about your daughter? Weren't you taking SP to a trainer? But maybe she was just so excited to see all that company.

Donna, enjoy the new processor! I agree with Barb. At least DH was thinking about something for you. Are you still talking about the same leg procedure you were going to have ... seems like months ago?

Berta, all that work! Now you have a spanking clean rental. You must feel great about that! Enjoy the visit. At least you will have extra hands around to help with DH.

Shelley, after the last few posts, still thinking about a dog, LOL? Have I mentioned how absolutely adorable your sig pic of Kassie is? It is just so .... cat. Curled up on top of a chair with that contented smile ....

Over a month ago I went to the doctor and my cholesterol was very high. 240. She put me on meds and a week ago I went to have it checked again. 170! Those meds really work.

Last week I opened my sink cabinet door to a little flood. Seems the garbage disposal leaked. We just got a new one installed and it is amazing. With my hearing aids IN, I can barely tell it is running. Of course, it is not fun spending $200 when you don't expect to. It seems sometimes that Murphy has moved in with us!

Have a great Friday! XXOO

Good morning ladies. So nice to see a few posts here this early in the morning.

I went to the vet yesterday to find out Lily's results and was told that vet wasn't working. The owner promised to get in touch with her and call us today...we'll see.

We had a nice dinner last night for our anniversary. Of course, it's always nice to not have to cook. We have limited places to eat out in this little town so of course dh wanted Chinese. Darn...just when the scale was going downward. I was careful and ate a lot of veggies. Then last night watching tv I had cramps in my feet...one after the other, so I had to get up and eat a big handful of raisins. Cramps gone. But, I was scared to step on the scale this morning. Wow... a 1.4 lb. drop. Maybe I needed a high carb day. Who knows.

Remember I said that my cat Tia smelled. Like I mean really rotten. He'd lay on his pillow on the bed and we couldn't stand for him to be too close to us. I was sure he had cancer. Last night I found this huge tooth laying on the carpet. It was his eye tooth...at least 1 1/2 inches long. Now the smell is gone. The tooth doesn't look like it has a cavity in it...and when I checked him I see his other eye tooth is gone too. Poor old guy. Anyway, this morning the smell is gone. I feel so relieved. But, I also feel guilty that I didn't check his teeth. It just didn't smell like a bad tooth smell ya know? Maybe now he'll put some weight back on...he sure ate like crazy this morning. I'm a bad kitty mommy!

It's deer season again for sure. Three of our drivers have hit deer. Right now we have a truck up the highway that isn't moving from hitting one. That's why I don't like to drive at night. But, it is gorgeous scenery right now. All the trees are turning yellow and orange and the farmers are getting their fields turned over ... perfect straight lines, how in the heck do they do that?

Tonight is Octoberfest at the Legion. Sounds like fun. Except that our barmaid walked out last night. We have a backup but I think this girl might be trouble. She just wanted to make her own rules and wouldn't listen. Went around town and put out posters for the Halloween dance and said the first drink was "free" if you came in costume. You can't give away liquor! Dh is pretty sure she's already contacted a lawyer about her job. Sure glad that I don't work there.

I'm off to do my job...not that I want to. But, it is Friday and the sun is shining so life is good. Have a great weekend.
