Hi, Shelley. I was just waiting for you to show up and get March started right. We have sunshine and cold today. All seasons have their own fierce beauty. But I'm ready now for the next one.

We actually got up above freezing today. But, I heard the weatherman say that March is going to be more winter weather. Anyone have a gun so I can shoot him?

Barb: My leg is coming along but still painful to the touch. I can't remember if it felt like this the last 3 times I've had it done. I had a minute of panic this morning wondering if I had a blood clot but then remembered that even if I did it couldn't really hurt me. I think it will be okay.

My neice is out of hospital. I hope she knows what a lucky girl she is. Being so strong and healthy was definitely a plus for her. She will have a home care nurse coming in daily to change bandages and watch for more infeciton. They sure don't keep people in hospital very long anymore.

On a sad note for me...I've found out that dd is again back to drinking. I'm doing my best to just stay away from her and give her no help financially. Enough said.

I've walked my girls today and headed for the treadmill but only made it 1/2 mile before my muscles started screaming in my bad leg. I guess I did too much walking in town yesterday so I'm not going to push it. We went to a birthday dinner for a ballteam member last night...he's the baby of the team...just turned 50.

Now I'm off to at least do 1 scrapbook page before I have to start dinner. Talk to you all tomorrow I hope.

Woke up to pounding rain this morning...but that's good. The snow is just about gone. In fact the temps rose to about 11C today and I even have my window at work open a little. The furkids are loving the fresh air...noses to the window. lol

My leg is aching like all get out today. No idea why. It shouldn't have any pain once the initial injections are done so this is new to me. There aren't any lumps though so I'm not too worried. It will settle down when it's good and ready.

The chinese food on the weekend didn't like my scale at all. One of the members on the ballteam turned 50 (the baby of the team), so there was a get together to surprise him. They just had the choose the place with a huge smorg!! I know...I could have made better choices. I was down 5 lbs...not anymore. I'll keep plugging along and maybe tomorrow it will be gone again.

By tomorrow, our snow will be all gone. Pretty while it lasted.

About my shoulder, the doc says, "Probably inflammation." Prescribed Naproxen and physical therapy for now. I'll also be having a "nerve test" since the numbness in the fingers might be something else.

My friend's daughter just got engaged, so there's romance bubbling over for two really gorgeous young people. Everybody happy!

Two funerals this week. Life is short. Treasure each day.

Kitty Re: March 09 Vet's Tracking

Sounds like at least 3 of us(Donna, Barb & moi) are living with some aggrevating aches and pains, eh?

Donna...hope your leg feels better soon. I can just picture Sora and Lilly with their little noses pressed up against the window...*whiffing* the air!

Barb...hope your PT will get you back in tip-top shoulder shape. Ah...numbness in the fingers.
Definitely a couple of possibilities for that scenario. Best wishes.

Bren! Sounds like our resident cha-cha girl did swell! Yay you!!!

As for moi...I have been blessed with a gosh-awful headache of sorts. Mostly pain in both shoulders, up the neck, and the base of my skull. When I turn my head I can hear a grinding sound...like bone on bone. D*mn! I imagine it could be the beginnings of arthritis of the cervical spine, or some other dreaded diagnosis that nobody wants. Who knows...could be simply that I slept wrong. At any rate, this was day 3, which is 3 days to many, IMO!!
Laying around at home wasn't doing any good, so I went to the new BB&B that's just opened up the road from me. I scored BIG...and I mean BIG!!! LOL!
I got 2 sets of Tervis tumblers(insulated), a new Calphlon grill pan, a set of 3 stainless strainers, a big box grater and a 3 pkt of pet hair removal sticky roller thingies. They are a must have here at my house!!
Anyhoo...I had a $5 off coupon, a 20% off any item coupon, and a $25 gift card I had forgotten about. So, I think I came out pretty good!

Time for some more Motrin and a session with the heating pad! Whoopee! NOT!

Waves and smiles to all!
(((hugs)))

Hope all you puny people are better tomorrow. Donna, I'm so sorry that your daughter has relapsed.

State testing tomorrow.......... the state is paranoid. I have to cover everything on the walls, take up all cell phones, can't bring mine either, can't turn on a computer and will spending 4 hours walking around watching kids write a test. I can't read, I can't grade, I have to walk-- and NOT read anything on the booklets. We have to sign oaths and can have our certifications pulled for infractions.

Gee, I am so excited. Can you hear the sarcasm dripping?

Gosh, Judy. Rules like that are really harsh on disciplined, dedicated teachers like you. I can only imagine what has gone on in other places to make them necessary. Seems like cheating is "normal" these days. Whatever happened to the love of learning? I hope all kids will look to someone like Barack Obama as a living example of potential fulfilled through education. Not everyone is as smart as he is, but we can use what we've got. End of speech.

Well, considering the attack on the Sri Lanka cricket team in Lahore yesterday, I'm just going to stop talking about going to Pakistan this year. My chances of getting creamed in a traffic accident in KC are way higher than the chance of getting blown up in Pakistan. But still. I'll wait for advice from my friend there before I buy a ticket.

Shelley, you are super shopper! It's fun to get what you need, and get a good deal at the same time. I bought a floor lamp online yesterday, from Lamps Plus, and hope it's what I want when it gets here. I shopped around town a little bit, but I finally decided to save on gas and time.

Off to the races. Stay warm everybody. Or, in Judy's case, cool.

Sorry, Judy...sounds like an interminable day. Ugh!

Shelley and Barb, sounds like we all have some version of the neck/shoulder owies. It is SO not fun. Physical therapy was eventually the only thing that returned me to some sort of normalcy last year, but things are regressing again. That and therapeutic massage to keep the muscles released. Reminds me, I need another appointment....

Shell, congrats on your shopping and bargain extravaganza. You scored big time.

Barb, very concerned about events in Pakistan so I'm glad you are delaying a visit. Hope the lamp fits the bill

Donna speaking of furgirls (love the visual of yours with noses pressed...) I need to take mine out for a romp in the back yard while I fill the finch feeder.

Peg, Bert, Alida, thinking of you!

Speaking of a dog's life--this is Trixie, who lives where I work

fly by....again....
Got a short walk in this morning, but I finally gave up after about 68 minutes. Dang wind!!!...30-35mph with gusts of 40-45mph...and it wasn't that warm, either. It has finally warmed up some this afternoon.

Judy...looks like you'll have a kick-a$$ step count for the day! That's a positive, right?

Bren...yep...Trixie looks like it's really her house, and the human folk are just visitors! LOL!

oops...gotta scoot!
(((hugs & waves to all!)))

Another gorgeous morning. Supposed to turn to rain by this evening but that's okay too. Might help all the brown spots that are all over my lawn from the furkids. I'd like to know how I could get all those burn spots when I've had 2 feet of snow on the grass for months?

Scale dropped a tiny bit today...I'm still trying to get rid of the chinese food from the weekend. It was good to see some of the ballteam members at the dinner but not good that I gained back everything that I had lost last week. Sure does come back on quickly. With all the hot flushes that I've been getting this week I was sure I would be down 10 lbs. (stress, I know).

I'm finding that after a half hour on the treadmill....later that night my knees are screaming. This getting older is for the birds. I was pretty sure that staying active would help to make sure this type of thing didn't happen. Sure was wrong on that.

It will be a slow day for me today at work. Invoices tomorrow so I'm kicked out of the computer at noon so the press can get ready so we can download them tomorrow morning. Guess I'll have to pull out some of the stuff that I've got tucked away to keep busy.

When we were in town last time I picked up a good pair of clippers so I can learn how to groom Sora. I won't take her back to the other groomer and have her have seizures again. I'm trying to follow the lines of the last cut but it's grown so fast it's kind of hard. Last night I gave her a bit of a cut but I'm still a little nervous. Her fur is so thick and makes her so hot! I'll keep trying though.

Barb: I'm happy to hear that your going to postpone your trip too.

Shelley: Hope that wind is gone soon. Nothing worse than fighting a wind while walking...okay, except trying not to fall on the ice.

Judy: You rock on the walking too. Come on Spring, I want to join you guys.

Alida: Hope your mending quickly. You're missed here girl!

Everyone else....HI.... come on back and let us know what's happening with you.

The house manager where I lived caught me at the door yesterday and asked, "Do you sometimes wonder how you ever had time to work?" I can't imagine anyone being bored with retirement.

I got my acceptance letter for the Docent-in-Training program at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Whoopee!! (Was there ever any doubt?) This is a huge commitment, so you can get ready for lots of Art Reports. Forever. Classes start in August, but there is a line-up of preparatory work to do through the summer.

Today I'm doing the Bible study for the Presby Women's Circle I've been participating in. Just between you and me (and all the lurkers), I'm not going to continue with the circle meetings after my study leader commitment is over. I like the ladies just fine, but the lunches are, um, unfocused. I've tried to "go with the flow," but I just don't enjoy them.

Thanks to Alida's recipe, I made up a batch of man-pleasing Taco Soup last night. Delicious! And for the record, I put in ALL the chili powder (a teaspoon) and it was declared "perfect" by the target consumer. I browned the burger and onions, and then put the whole shebang in the crockpot for the day.

Time for a walk to the library to pick up a book. Then Circle, then an eye appointment. When did I have time to work??

Take care of you, my dears.
