Tornado sirens going off can be totally un-nerving. Good thing you can hear then, though. This wacky weather is beginning to get on a lot of people's nerves...mine included! Even the helicopter pilot from one of the news stations said, "it looks totally erie out here tonight." s

| I'm flying by too. I've spent my morning on FB. Nothing new to report here except that I finally got on the scale yesterday (after several weeks) and I've lost 7 lbs. That was a surprise. It must be the smaller portions I've been taking at lunch, and possibly the walks with SP, though it hardly seems like those would count since they are pretty short. I wondered if I had lost weight because my clothes were fitting looser. That's always a nice surprise, isn't it? Also, I had to send a whole box of clothes I ordered from Soft Surroundings back for smaller sizes. That was a surprise too! Maybe what I've needed is to be less compulsive about this WOL and just begin living it. Ya' think?? Peace, Peg

| Sorry to those of you with weather woes--and fires. Yikes! We had some welcome rain, followed by fair skies for tonight's home opener at the ballpark. The Royals need all the help they can get. Peg, congrats on that surprise weight loss. I'm for relaxing a bit with the WOE from time to time. In my case, too much ignorance (and too much bliss) have to be nipped in the bud. But it sounds like you're doing something right without too much deliberation. Y'know, shopping for home decor burns a lot of energy. I stuck a note in the General discussion about an Oprah magazine article on different diets. LCE wins. I made my favorite broccoli salad with Henry's dressing for supper tonight. Happy Easter weekend everyone. |

| I'm pooped............ cleaned, sanded, and started priming the room of never ending wood work. We'll be lucky to get that woodwork done over this long weekend. Peg, Super congrats on the wonderful scale revelation this morning.

| fly by.... I will have to echo Judy's "I'm pooped!" today!!! Hope to visit more tomorrow. The fires were very devastating here in the metro area(Midwest City). The Fire Marshall said yesterday, it was intentionally set!!!! I just hope they catch the low-lives that did it. Just that fire alone, over 50 homes, AND some livestock, and pets as well, perished. That just makes me sick to think someone would deliberately do something so wicked. Over 200 homes state wide were lost.(we had approx 5 or 6 BIG fires going at one time over the state). Very scary. OK...gotta scoot...the Kass is DEMANDING dinner! LOL! waves and smiles to all! (((hugs all around))) s

| I'll just echo what I said yesterday ......... today was more painting. The priming is finished and the first coat of real paint is on the stationary side of the door, shelf brackets and a post in the corner of the room. DH has done all the shelves and both sides of the swinging portion of the door. Tomorrow after early church, I will hit the windows. DH worked on caulking them this afternoon. The wood has either really shrunk since the windows were installed or they did a really bad job of caulking them. It took about a tube per window to fill them in. And so it goes............

| Happy Belated Easter, my dears! Yes, I'm alive and kicking. After working almost full time for the last couple of months, with a pending change in executive director, the return to work of a rather irritating colleague after an extended leave, and the shortening of the hours our desk will be manned (or womaned) I'm racheting back down to my original part time status. Just in time for Spring! Yea! If it ever comes, that is. I will have no excuses for not visiting more often. Judy, what room of the house are you doing now? I missed that part. Shelley, I've been following the fires and weather. Really, OK (and TX) need a break. How are the studies? Peg, your choices for the kitchen and tile sound lovely! But it looks like you've taken on more responsibilities once again Barb, upgrading is a dangerous thing, is it not? Hope you find your laptop will be upgradable. iPhones are dangerously cute, and they are not kidding when they say there's an app for everything. One of my friends here has an iPhone and I'm amazed with everything she can do. Bert, sounds as though you have some serious rental work ahead. Maybe if Spring ever really comes we'll both feel like tackling needed projects. Brrrrrrr! Alida, it's good to hear you are getting around better. Interesting story about Bob's supervisor being reassigned. I imagine it was easy to guess who told Bob it was ok to read at work. Glad everything came out ok! Donna, how are you!

| Bren!!!! It's so lovely to *see* you here!!! And definitely a BIG YAY for reducing those work hours!!! I think, for the most part, the fires are out. We got some much needed rain almost state wide. Friday through today, we got a little over 2 inches here at our house. We really need a couple more inches, and the prospects look good for the end of the week! gotta scoot... (((hugs all around))) s

| WOW Bren........ good to have you checking in! I totally understand about work getting in the way of "real life." The room I've been working in is a sun room type addition at the back of the house. It is exposed to the outside on three sides, hence the number of windows and doors. This room had some significant termite damage that was repaired a week of so ago. While the room was emptied out we just went ahead and completed the painting not already done by the repairman. .....and then while we were at it, we pulled up the carpet. As soon as the paint is finished, we are going to replace the carpet. We're doing that so that we have a room to use to load with the furniture from the rest of the house when we do that carpeting later this summer. You know, one thing leads to another............ Current project is incomplete but it's back to real work tomorrow.

| Hello, everybody. Brenda, especially good to see you back. Working full-time has lost its charm for me--it just sucks up too much time! Funny how my calendar stays fully booked anyway. It's a gorgeous day outside, and I see that the preschoolers from next door are enjoying a walk on the Trolley Trail with their teachers. Too cute! I've already been for my walk--but it's tempting just to go out and walk until dark. Unfortunately, this afternoon I'll be attending (and participating in) a memorial service for a dear friend. She was way too young (at 73) and way too good to die from cancer. But that's an indiscriminate disease. Uncle Sam has already gouged my bank account this year, so Tax Day passes without a whimper. I've already done my whimpering. At least when I take my dad to the VA for their excellent care, I can see my tax dollars at work. I hope life is going all right for our "missing persons" here at the Vets thread. |

| Flying by because I'm preaching an installation on Sunday and I'm needing to be GOOD for this one. "We have this treasure in clay vessels." That's part of my scripture. I have a love/hate for this one because I (and a lot of other feminists I know) really hate being referred to as a "vessel." But, I'll deal. BREN!!!!! Long time no see!! I wonder how Heather is and how her house is coming? Anyone hear anything? Gotta jet! Peg

| fly by for me... same old...same old here in the heartland. They are starting to come out with the "numbers" for the wildfires we had last week; it's staggering, and the insurance companies are crying. In our state so far this year we've had, a doozie of an ice storm, 2 devastating tornadoes, in February, no less, and now the fires. I think that's quite enough for a long, long time to come! There are folks in the southern part of the state, that believe it or not, have been effected by all 3 disasters. My heart just goes out to them. I did get an email from Donna. She has been busy with life and work and all. She said to tell everyone HI!! I hope she gets everything under control soon and can come hang out with us again before to much longer! Waves to Bren, Judy, Barb and Peg!! Missing...Bert, Alida and Donna!!! and Heather, to!! gotta scoot... (((hugs all around))) s

| Hello-o-o-o-o? Anybody here? I'm guessing life is really getting "in the way" of our personal time these days. Peg, I hope the installation goes well today. I really don't mind that particular "vessel" reference, since it applies to everybody, not just women. We are enjoying a long, drenching rain. No disasters threatening. Saturday was a good day to spend indoors, which I did--at a symposium celebrating the opening of the new American Gallery at the Nelson-Atkins. The speakers were excellent, but it was a very long time to sit in an auditorium with no breaks. The new galleries are stunning--a great way of pulling together a variety of work, including paintings, furniture, and decorative items like silver and glassware. People with money are still using it to subsidize the preservation of art and culture, for which I am grateful. On Friday night, I had a Happy Hour at my house for former colleagues. About a dozen people came, drank a lot, ate a lot, talked a lot. I really enjoyed seeing them. Hard to believe I've been retired for a whole year. Hopefully the recent layoffs announced at Hallmark (the first actual layoffs in the history of a hundred-year-old company) will not reach my writing friends. Hope you're all finding time to relax a little this weekend. Except for Judy, the energizer bunny with a paint brush! In any case, enjoy yourself. |
