| Peg, How did the sermon go? I'm sure, as always, you were excellent. Barb, Check out the albums on my Facebook page. Hoops and Yoyo were kidnapped and I had to hold the kid's car keys ransom for a while to get them back. When they did come back, they were hanging off the roof and looking into the window of my second floor classroom. We do a number of worksheets on supply and demand using an imaginary product called "Greebes". The kids always want to know what a Greebe is, so I just started telling them that that's what Hoops and Yoyo are. The Greebes are well known among the senior class. The energizer bunny was about worn down last week. Painting is "summer work" around here. It was like I had easily moved to summer mind set. I wasn't ready to go back to work. We are about to get to the end of this part of our renovations. I finished the last of the paint touch ups yesterday. Tomorrow they are laying the carpet in the room that had termite repairs and the new paint job. Our plan is to get that room done so it will be a place to move the other furniture when finally gut up to have the rest of the house done. More than one of our neighbors have asked us why we didn't just move. Good question.......... but then there is the economy and the housing market. Got to go cook dinner and get ready for a new week. We are on the home stretch, now -- only about 5 more weeks. Tuesday I'm making plans to go to the film festival nearby and see "Breakfast at Tiffany's" on the big screen. The rest of the week has an extra meeting a day. Have a good week everyone.

| Good Morning... Looks like everyone is very busy.. I'm still plugging away on rental houses. Unfortunately the spirit isn't moving me as it should. One was a total disaster when the folks moved out, but someone wanted the house enough to do the major cleaning and tearing out of carpets. Home Sweet Home needs some work, but it seems about the time I am ready to do some on mine... the others are due. Ddil is coming tomorrow from AZ and we are going to attend the Inge Festival activities, that should be fun. We always have a great time regardless. Barb, it's great that you can still get together with former co-workers and have a good time. Does it make you miss work? I usually find when I see someone from my former place of employment, that I'm glad I have retired. Judy.. glad you are nearly done. You have worked really hard, probably not as bad as it would have been if you had moved. Peg ? how was the sermon.?? Donna.. where are you? I wonder if Heather's home was finished. Would be nice to hear from her. The rains seem to be gone for this week anyway.. I have had enough for awhile. Hi to everyone and have a good day. |

| Monday morning. Hope I can rev up enough ambition to tackle a couple of writing projects (small, church-related). It looks like a good day to be outdoors. Bert, I admire your dedication to your properties. Dealing with renters sure gives you insight into the ugly side of human behavior. Apparently, landlords can be problematic too--but mainly, in Missouri, distant multi-national banks who foreclose on renters without warning. Apparently, there's no current law against posting a 24-hour vacate notice. Hope that will change soon. And NO, I do not miss work at all. Most of my work friends retired before I did, so I didn't leave behind any close relationships, except with a boss I liked. I loved working for Hallmark, of course, but I am surprisingly unsentimental about the place, the product, or the problems of recession there. I am very lucky to have the resources to be comfortable, if I'm reasonably frugal. When I was rummaging in my desk yesterday, I discovered some doodling I'd done back in 2002. It was a timeline outlining a plan for selling our KC house, buying property at the beach, and retiring in 2007. Funny how life determines its own way of unfolding. I wasn't that serious about beach property, but I WAS serious about retiring and moving out of the house into a smaller, yard-free location. Be careful what you wish for. Everybody have a blessed week. |

| Hi Gang! Well, the "Many Hands Movers," (a group of able-bodied men and women here) moved the guy out who was living in the house we are going to move into this morning. I bought a couch from him which I will reupholster, and a stereo setup with two receivers with a place to play tapes and a radio. We have had neither of those in my rush to get us into the 21st centruy. Tomorrow we meet with the VP of Buildings and Grounds to show him the plans we have for the bdrms and kitchen. They will need to do a lot to clean the place up, including a lot of yardwork and a new fence, not to mention redoing the screened in porch. I've scaled down my expectations, and hope that it won't take too long to get it done. I did get a table for the banquette in the kitchen at our furniture sale. It is a beautiful oak round table that needs some work, but the wood shop folks here will fix it for me. I called California Closets and they are coming out tomorrow to measure for a unit that will go around the room, and include a murphy bed. Remember that I had a unit from them in my office in MA? I had a wonderful desk and on the other side of the room, I had a place for sewing. They also built me a tall closet for my crafts and fabric. We continue with really hot weather this afternoon, and for me it is too hot to go outside for much of anything. I might wait until later and go over to the new house and look around. We got the keys today from the former owner. Here, they take the keys and won't let you have them until it is move in ready. I learned that with the place we're in, so asked P to give us the keys after he is settled. Probably Friday I will go over and set up his computer. I took it down for him last night and packed it up to move. (He moved to assisted living) There are some really lovely roses in bloom there right now, I would love to cut some of them! Sorry to hear you are not doing well, Shel and your dh! Gosh, there is nothing like living in the house with someone who is sick when you are sick too. Take care. Barb, nice to hear that you got together with friends. I'm looking forward to being able to do that. In our new house, I am hoping that I can concince them to build a ramp so that some of our older friends can visit. Judy: Don't know how you continue to keep going! Congratulations on nearing the end for now. Oh, I get it about the Grebbe's now. I could not figure out what that was on your fb page. Love you all, Peg

| Thanks Ju & Peg. today's news from the infirmary: status quo! LOL! I guess this upper respiratory crud that's going around is a doozie. I'm sure hoping I can dodge it. We are on STRICT HANDWASHING PRECAUTIONS and as close to respiratory isolation as I can get! LOL! Other than that, we're just bouncing along! ![]() I sent Heather an e-mail, but it came back as *undeliverable due to closed account* or something like that. Gee...I hope all is well with her. ttfn (((hugs all around))) x

Peg, Congrats on the (eventual) move to the house. I am so glad that you will soon be away from the stairs. Have patience with the renovations. We've been at it six weeks this round. DH is getting tired of being a job superintendent. Our only active part of the recent projects has been to paint the back room. WE have had a wonderful contractor, and have both been totally pleased with everything that has been done. Sometime soon, I'll try to get some pictures posted. From the accountability thread....... | Just stopping by, with nothing much to say. Beautiful weather these days, so I've been out walking...walking...walking. Shelley, hope the Get Well angel is on her way! Judy, these last few weeks until summer must feel like a snakepit in the classroom. Everyone writhing around all the time. Hang in there. I signed up for a 5K this Sunday, but with cooler temps and maybe rain predicted, I might just collect the t-shirt and skip the run. It would be a walk for me anyway. Nuthin' much to add. Good thoughts to all! |

| After 6+ weeks, home renovations are DONE!! We have a new sofa being delivered tomorrow morning and I desperately need to clean house, but the construction and repairs are finished. We need a break for a while. Some time during the summer when we both can face it, we'll replace the carpet. Until at least the middle of June though, when this summer's painting projects commence, we are DONE.

| fly by... not much shakin' here except some severe storms and a tornado just hit Enid. We are in a storm pattern until Wednesday which could spawn a tornado outbreak they are saying. ack! I did a *watermelon* pedicure...tooo cute! I'll post a pic soon. Oh...I got an uber short and spikey haircut with buzzed sides and back. It's about 1 inch long on top. Less than 5 minutes with the blow dryer, work some product(hair *paste*) through to spike it, and it's a done deal! Why didn't I do this when I was working and having to get up at 0400 to get ready?? duh! DH is better; still has a cough, but mucho improved. I'm pooped! nitey nite! (((hugs all around)))

| Shelley, I wanna see that haircut! I've been thinking shorter-than-short myself. I'm not sure about the "buzzed" sides though. Bet it looks cute on you. Glad to hear the guy is getting along better. It's raining. I'm not sure I really want to join the crowd for the Trolley Run this morning. Not like I was going to compete in any meaningful way. Do I really want to walk four miles in the rain for a soggy cup of yogurt?? Have a restful Sunday everybody. |

| Shel, with your big eyes, I bet that buzzed looks darling on you....pics. My dh would have a cow if I did that. Today, I decided to go all day with bed head. Seriously! I went to church that way, and in a few minutes I'm going to lunch with dd and dgd. I'm so behind in color and cut that I look just terrible!!! Dgd made the Varsity Cheerleading Squad yesterday for next year when she is a Jr. Just between you and me, I have a little trouble with the whole idea of my kids and grandkids valuing that. She has been a JV cheerleader for two years. But, that's just me. She is a 5.0 student with all AP classes. Never had less than an "A" in anything. I don't know, it has something to do with excess, society, and living the simple life. I can't impose my values on them any more, so I just hope that they suck them up through osmosis these days. ![]() Our house will begin with the demolishing next week and then some major desicions about paint. color that is. I am hopelessly stuck now on what to do. I just decide that I'll paint the kitchen yellow, when I decide that I will decide that I will paint the living room yellow, and then I think, wouldn't the MB look pretty in yellow...well, you get where I am going. First I like yellow. And, second, I am not thinking very creatively.Dh's dd and her dh are going to be the general contractor's for the project. I am really leary of that, but was overruled by them and dh. Last night he asked me if the workers could sleep here during the rebuild! They are coming from AZ. I said NO, NO, NO. He was very puzzled by my reaction. Who IS this man that I married that he doesn't know me after 26 years!!?? Much more, but I've run out of time. Gotta jet. Peg
