Happy April Fool's Day! I hope nobody fell into the clutches of a malicious joker.
I'm sure our new interim pastor, who started work today, will have something to say about beginning a new job on this particular occasion. I mailed my check to the IRS, which isn't a bit funny.

I managed to get in and out of Key West without even a taste of Key Lime pie or a margarita. I'm pretty serious about this sugar-free determination. Still, I keep noticing moments when my head is really clear, and I give low-carb credit for that.

There's no place like home.

Morning, gang!!
We are forecasted for another crummy weather day...with SNOW in the NW part of the state!! gak! Our temp is sitting at 52-ish, and they say that will be the high for the day; temps will fall and the N wind will howl. One of our local weather guys said basically, it ain't gonna get any better 'til after Easter!

I'm off to a Dr's appt and some lab work...all just routine stuff. Always something!

Hope everybody has a good day!
Stay warm.
Be well.

Lovely rainy day for us. I walked with an umbrella, but soon decided to just get wet. We need the soaking.

Today I need to make some menus and get groceries. Woman doth not live on cheese sticks alone. I think I'm hungry for cauliflower.

So...what's new with ya'll?

Nothing exciting here... 43 degrees at 3:15. Yuk, I will do better next year, I will do better next year, I will stay where it is warm, I will stay where it is warm.

Must work on rental houses... have 1 under major overhaul, one needs some TLC and one, the tenants are moving.. who knows what lies there.

Other than whining and complaining about having to go to work and the cold, I am a very happy person. DS said it isn't whining,it's commenting.

Well, after an absolutely exhausting day with dh's dd, I picked out dishwasher, microwave with convection oven, countertops for kitchen and bathroom, backsplashes for kitchen and bathroom including for the kitchen, a beautiful rooster in a beige color surrounded by "linen" tile. It will sit over the stove tiled into the backsplash. Also, she finished and copied the plans while at her house, which include a greenhouse window but without any metal on it. It just slightly bows. Love it. By the time I was done it was 5:00 pm and I had to drive home the two hours it took me to get there in the morning. But, I have all the samples and they are lovely. The countertops are a new surface that is natural quartz. It is about the same price as Corian, but absolutely beautiful. I got a very light yellow color. It has splashes of white in it. The cupboards are knotty alder with beadboard (same color) on the inside of each door. Oh, we also got the tiles for both bathrooms.

I'm still recovering. Today is one of those gloomy days with dark, dark clouds and then suddenly sunny. But, it is in the low 60's and not supposed to get higher. The house is COOOLD. I went and looked and dh had shut off the heating. He does things by season and not temperature. It is ON now.

One of our beloved residents died today. So sad. She and her husband lived in the place we are living just before us. She had cancer. She was only 76, which is only a few months older than my dh! Aack.

Today is also a painful physically day for me, as it always is when it is humid outside. I'm gonna go and lay down with the heating pad right now.

Good to hear from all of you.
Love, Peg

Well, that much I typed on my phone keypad. Zheesh. Oh well. Serves me right for wandering into the phone store "thinking about" upgrading my old cell phone.

Now I'll be into iTunes and all that stuff. Didn't I earn it??

Peg, your new place sounds WONDERFUL! Exhausting, but wonderful. Best wishes.

More from me later. Gotta go update my calendar and learn how to access some nifty apps.

Good morning!

Today we will celebrate my DGD's birthday. Lunch at an Italian Buffet. Can you say Piggy? I am trying to remember how old she is and for the life of me, I cannot. Maybe it's her Sweet Sixteen? Did anyone else have a corsage made by a friend to wear on your 16th birthday at school? In Chicago, these corsages were made from ribbons ...... I am better at remembering really long ago than really recent. Sigh.

Peg! I can't believe you picked all that stuff out in ONE DAY. That is just amazing. And it all sounds soooo wonderful. That is sad about your friend. 76 is much too young, especially since that is how old Bob is. Here's hoping the heating pads help. (((HUGS)))

Berta, three rental properties? That must keep you hopping. As for not knowing what condition you will find that one property when the renters move out .... my boss has a rental house (Barb, Grandview) and she kicked her renters of 3 months out. She found out they had two dogs that did all their business inside on the rugs. The Puroclean guys said it all needs to be replaced. They had to wear respirators in the house. Geez. Reminds me of my time in Chicago. Now that's not a happy memory.

Barb, ohh. iPhone sounds exciting. Bob got an MP3 player a few weeks ago to help with the Sunday boredom at work (he can no longer read on the job). Of course, it was up to me to figure the thing out. Took about two hours, but now I feel like I at least understand some of this new-fangled stuff. And kudos to you for sticking to your low-carb guns while in Key West. You, quite simply, rock.

Re: Bob not reading at work. This was quite a to-do. Months ago his supervisor told him it was OK to read at his guard station. His hours are 3 to 11, so after 6 pm, nothing happens. Well, a few weeks ago, a bigwig that works for the bank reported Bob for reading on the job. He was called in for a conference. When asked who told him he could read (that person was there in the room) Bob declined to name him, just said that he was told he could. Usually, any guard that has a complaint against them is immediately re-assigned to another job. But Bob likes it there. And they must like him because he is still there. And he got another small raise. Whew. In this economy, there are lots of people now who would take a guard job. Oh, and that supervisor who told Bob he could read? He's re-assigned.

My hip continues to be a struggle. But there are small signs of improvement. I can't walk straight without a cane yet, but this morning is the first time in about two months that my foot does not look like a baloon. That's huge.

Shelley, Judy, Brenda (gosh, where are you? But I am a fine one to talk), Donna -- hope all is well!

Alida, as a techie, you'll appreciate this. Turns out my new iPhone needs a higher-level OSX operating system than I have on my old MAC to synch up. So in order to use a lot of the nifty features, I'll have to upgrade my operating system, at a cost of ?? It's possible my laptop won't even support an upgrade like that. So much for fancy electronics.

Luckily, I CAN purchase and download iTunes straight into my phone, and use it as an iPod. So that's useful. Once I get all my addresses etc. loaded in, I'll just use the phone for everything but long-winded chatter like this.

The sun is out again, and I'm tired of house cleaning. So I guess I'll put on my sneaks and go outdoors.

Happy weekend to all.

Hey girls, how nice to see so many checking in. It was a beautiful but busy day around here. I did some serious window cleaning in the back room. There are 9 large casement windows, and two French doors in there. It's amazing how much better they look. I should be a better housekeeper. All those windows and the rest of that room will get painted this summer. That's the room that had the termite repair so I have a mixture of new primed baseboards and old stained wood window frames. Those casement windows are going to be a major pain to paint.

Peg, what fun to pick out an entire house at one time. I hope the construction goes quickly. Our repairs have been going on for about six weeks. We are about ready for a break.

Gotta go.......I either need to finish my sewing project or do some school work, and it's already 10:15.........
