oh, geeeze, Donna. I'll definitely be thinking of you today. I have to believe taking our furkins to the rainbow bridge so they can cross is the right thing to do, but it hurts really bad nonetheless. (((hugs to you))).

MK...glad you de-lurked and gave us an update!! Drop in anytime!

Barb..glad you had a wonderful time. And speaking of rain..........

Guess what???!!!....it's RAINING again!!!

The weather guy said last night that we've only had one dry day in the last 4 weeks!!! I knew we'd had a LOT of rain, but didn't know it was that many days!!!

I'm off to start the day with a OMM and a coffee refill, then some housey stuff, then the dreaded dental appt. ack!! I'll be rendered a *non-chewer* for a while I suppose, so what better way to seriously hit the LC trail, again??!! LOL!
I'm with ya Barb...definitely time to get the head(and mouth) back in the LC game!

Happy manic Monday to all!

(((hugs all around!)))

Hi Gang!

I wonder where Bren is? Working hard, no doubt.

Yesterday was not one of my favorite holidays. You all know that I don't like it. It turned out to be another of the same. Not sure why I am so negative. I did have dinner with dd2 and her three kids who acted out in their 9, 13, and 15 year old ways. We paid. And, no card, but my dd 1 called late in the day. I finally told her that I would appreciate an invitation to her house some time. She was flabergasted and said, "Mom, you are ALWAYS welcome at my home." Same thing I would say. I understand being busy and being a Mom and everything else, but I think that if she really wanted me there, she would say, "Mom, I miss you." It's a lot to ask, I know. I suspect (and it breaks my heart always) that she doesn't miss me. We haven't been to TX for two years because dh said that he doesn't want to go again without an invitation. "Mom, you KNOW you are always invited." "No", I said, "I don't always know that." "Mom" she said questioningly, "really?" "Really" I said. It was a hard conversation which I had to end prematurely because she called on her sister's cell phone and we were in the restaurant parking lot and they had to go. These Mother's Day dramas go on every year. I SO wish they didn't. I try to be loving and kind and non-judgmental about everything they do. They are both on facebook and I compliment them frequently. I never hear back. Oh well, it is good to have friends. Evidently, I am to spend my latter years developing friendships here at the "home."

Today, dh's dd and dsil (in July) are coming to talk over the budget for the reovation. They have done all the demolishing, and she is complaining that they have gone over budget by $22K. I'm not sure how, but I am quite sure that this woman doesn't know how to shop at stores like Lowes and Home Depot. For instance she told me last week that it takes $500. to hang a new interior door! I went on Lowe's website yesterday and found doors for $48.00! For pete's sake, I could hang the bleepin' door myself! She says that you have to build a new header for the door. I think that if the door fits the old opening, the old header is just fine. She thinks I don't know about all that. I've been the "handywoman" in my home for 30 years. I DO know. But, all this dialogue is in my head, and now on this page. Dh has been unwilling to discuss it with me. He has shut me down with, "let's just wait and see what they say?" I'm about crazy with it. I KNEW that we shouldn't hire relatives. But, dh insisted. Last night I finally took a tranquilizer and it helped. The gin and tonic didn't hurt either.

SP has been sick over the weekend with bowel trouble. I switched her to rice and chicken for the weekend to see if that would calm down her bowels. It did. It stopped them! Sheesh, this being a Mom to a dog is hard!

Gotta jet,
Peg

Oh Peg...you know you and I should just get together on Mother's Day and have a good drunk! lol Every year I just tell myself it's just another day but that doesn't really help either. The hurt is still there.

Thank you Barb and Peg for the kind words. It's not a good day so far. I have made the appointment at the vet for just after lunch. Immediately started crying and it's just not stopping. Then the toner in the fax machine ran out and I don't have a spare so I cried about that. Dh phoned and I cried when I heard his voice. What a crappy day!! My boss walked in took one look at me and just went white. Poor guy didn't know what to say so he decided he'd better go to town and buy more toner cartridges. Usually he complains about that but he knows he'll be gone for 2 hours and maybe I can pull myself together by then. I know this is the best for Tia but I've had him 18 years and he's been my baby...where is that stupid kleenex?

Are you as sick of rain as I am!!!

Not much going on.... had granddaughter's wedding. We all cried so it was a success.

Had the reunion get=together with old (literally) old friends. Had a great time.

Rented one of the houses and working on getting another ready. Company coming next week.

That's my life in a nut shell the past week or two...

I read the postings everyday and keep up with all of you..... rain, rain rain.

Donna, so sorry about Tia. I know how hard it is.

Rain must be all to the north of us. Our amounts have been acceptable.

School is down to 11 more days. It's time!

Have a girl's night tomorrow --- YEA!

I leave for Nebraska on June 1. I'm afraid that a week of their feedings will make extra long walks and extra careful eating mandatory. Of course if I will keep my head on straight, I can minimize the damages. Past history shows that I can do it for about three days, then I go off the chain. This time I will be more mindful! I don't want to have to fight the big battle again.

Bed time!

Hi guys...Shell, thanks for posting the pic of Tia. I just wanted to share with everyone how gorgeous he was. I'll really miss him and his cuddles. Losing a pet sure is hard.

With all the stress I've been under since Friday I'm not even attempting to think about what I'm eating. Things surely must calm down soon. My computer at work is falling apart as is the fax machine. I truly hope it crashes on my boss while I am on holidays. That might sound mean but this man spent $8000 on a reno of his bathroom and he expects me to work with equipment that is falling apart. I'm getting so tired of patching everything up. But, he just might be starting to listen to me...after catching me crying yesterday he's kind of tiptoeing around me.

The one good thing is that we got to visit with my grandkids last night. Nolyn turned 5 today...my baby isn't such a baby anymore.

Just about bedtime so I think I'll do a little knitting and then hit the sack. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. At least it's one day closer to our holidays.

Donna, big hugs for you today. You earned those tears.

I'm waiting around for my 11 o'clock admission to the outpatient clinic. Surgery is at one o'clock. (Carpal tunnel, for anyone just tuning in.) I want a cup of coffee!!!

Bert, we are having rain intermittently...more to come. Seems like a long, cold spring, but the blossoms have been glorious.

I'll be back tomorrow.

Thusday a.m. Time to try out my left-handed one-finger typing. i've already passed shower-with-baggie-over-the-bandage. i did dig up an old electric tootbrush, because lefthanded brushing is really messy!

Surgery was 3 hrs of waiting around and 20 minutes in the OR. Uneventful recovery so far. Thanks for your good thoughts. (I can't believe there are people who don't learn to touch type. This pecking around is, well, for the birds!)

That's enough for today. Judy, how are you holding up?? Peg, how about you?

So good to catch up with y'all. Barb, I hope there isn't too much pain with that surgery. I have known lots of people who have had it, and it looks painful.

Donna: SO sorry about Tia. What a gorgeous cat he was!

Judy: Hang in!

Shel: Keep the storm cellar open!

I'm losing lots of sleep over this renovation. The entire inside of the house is gutted now, and beginning to take shape in some ways. Lots of surprises between the plans and the actual building process. For instance, my banquette is not in the place I had imagined. Oh well. I found some Provencal fabric online and I'm going to order as soon as I can figure out the dimensions for the cushions. I have found a place here who will do the upholstery on the cushions. I will make the pillows myself. I'll also make the window covering, whatever it is. Had to give up my garden window in the kitchen, but that's all right, I would have been putting new plants in it all the time as the different ones died. I seem to have a "gray" thumb (not totally black).

Gotta jet. Inevitable lunch starts in 5 minutes. Then this afternoon I am doing computer support for one of the little old guys here. He's sold his PC for a Mac and wants to preserve his HD. So, I'm taking all my blank CD's and a "Wipe it" DVD that I found on line. This happens to be a guy that I don't like at all. He stands too close. Know what I mean?

Peg

LOL, Peg! I wish I DID have a cellar, safe room, or a tornado safe. Our sirens went off twice with the super-cell tornadic storms that went through central OK last night. We had been watching a severe storm to our west that we thought might be a problem, (but it took a direct southerly path and missed us), then I'll be danged, the super-cell mega storm that we didn't even think would track our way, did. It cycled and re-cycled into a meso-cyclone several times, had a rain wrapped core with baseball sized hail, and the storm chasers spotted several lowerings(funnels). It was after dark, so the visibility was dependant upon lightening, and boy did we have that as well. Anyhoo....the weather guy and the chasers were certain it was at a spot about 5 miles east of us, but our sirens went off anyway...twice!!! YIKES!!! I think the civil defense folks in our 'burb are pretty gun shy after the 2 tornadoes that about wiped us out, so they sounded the alarm. And I'm definitely not saying they shouldn't have, because heaven knows, I do have a more than healthy respect for those 'nadoes!!! So, a little un-nerving to say the least.

I sound like a broken record, but more T-storms in store tonight. gak!!! If we don't dry out soon, our mosquito population is going to be OOC!!(out of control).
And, I'm beginning to feel a bit like a caged tiger, by not being able to fitness walk!! grrrrowl!!! LOL!
I did get a lovely manicure today; chose a vivid orange-y coral called "Sun body Loves Me" or something like that.
OK...got scoot....
Everyone be well!
(((hugs to all!)))

From the "accountability" thread...........
Quote:
Geez, the body is fickle. I go out to eat one time and put on 2.5 lbs overnight. It scares me to death to imagine what will happen being in Nebraska for a week. I have absolutely no control over what they prepare ---- but I do have control over what I eat. I think the best plan may be to essentially skip dinner. During the dinner service, I'll go get a snack to eat later. They serve dinner way earlier than I normally eat. Instead of stuffing in a meal when I'm not hungry, I'll get something of an appropriate amount, take it back to the dorm and heat in the microwave. I've really gotten good at avoiding snacks, maybe if I continue to stay away from them, and stay away from the dining hall I'll be more successful than I have been in past years. I do not want to gain the 5-10 pounds that we all seem to put on while we are there.

Judy, I can imagine that time in NE is going to take some discipline. You'll be fine. Wish I had your resolve--but wishing doesn't cut it!

Peg, I've had NO pain at all from the surgery. I have a major bandage--almost like a cast from the base of the fingers halfway up my forearm. I have limited mobility in my fingers (I can type now), but it's a challenge to grasp things. Those plastic sleeves the newspaper comes in are perfect for a shower cover-up.

Shelley, this is a fierce weather season for you. I'm sure you have your shelter plan in place just in case. We've seen lots of rain, but not much tornadic activity.

Well, time to get on with the day. Happy Friday everyone.
