shhhhh....don't tell anyone, but.........
The sun is out and it is a BBBEEEAAAUUU-tiful day!!

Sooooooo....you betcha I walked!!!! Yippee Skippee!!! The tiger got out this morning, baby!!! LOL!
got in over 4 miles and STBO, so all is right with the world. And...I'm working on a 7 carb day so far!!! Dinner will be about 10-12 carbs, so I just might get a day of induction under my belt...and boy does my belt need some correction!!! LOL!

Barb, glad you are feeling no pain. I think mental attitude has 90% to do with a person's outcome most of the time. And you have a *not gonna slow me down* outlook, so there ya go!

Peg...WOW!! the whole inside is gutted already??? Sounds like things are moving at a pretty good pace. And that's good news, eh??

happy Friday to all!!

Shelley.... just back from lurking and out of breath... that pool boy is something

just been (actually) working on rental house.. I swear I'll never, ever put up wallpaper again. The room is very unique with lots of angles.. I thought ??? that it would be easier to repaper than tear off all of it and treat the walls for paint........WRONG~~

Influx of the troops starting Weds through Sunday... lost track of how many.. and that's a good thing. Oldest ds is organizing a yard sale for us...that should be interesting...

So, off to lunch.. and back to work.. and this is retirement???????????

No, Bert, that's NOT retirement. Retirement is what I do. Of course, your retirement produces income, and mine doesn't. Substantial difference there!

Shelley, my hand is coming along fine. I unwrapped all that mummy bandaging yesterday, and now all I have is a big waterproof Band-Aid. The incision is only about 1.5 inches. (I just realized I don't have a measuring stick in the house for centimeters. How backward is that??) Stitches come out 5/26. I'll be glad to get back the use of my hand.

Gorgeous weather expected here all week. Everything is lush and green from the long, cool spring. I had fun yesterday picking out some shrubbery for my friend to plant in his garden. He never sits still during the day. (I like that energy).

Have a good week everyone.
P. S. I sure wish we knew what happened to Heather and her home-building project. I hope it all worked out.

hi guys,
not much shakin' here in the heartland, except some full blown sunshine! Now this is how spring should be!!

Ah-ha!!! I just knew it was probably you, Bert, leading him down the path to...????....wherever the proper place is to lead a pool boy!!! hehe! Now we all expect you to share his affections equally! I think I should be next, eh???

Barb...glad the hand is coming along. I'm sure it was a big relief just to get the bulky dressing off! Don't rush the healing process....do take care.

I got my 4 miles in pretty early, so afterwards, I came home and got *down and dirty* with the dust rag and vacuum cleaner, then cleaned the hardwood floor in the dining room. Gosh that Kassie girl can make a mess! LOL! She often dips her paws in her water bowl, then promply walks through the kitchen and dining room to look outside. Little stinker! It's my job in life to clean up after her; well, I'm pretty sure that's what she thinks!!! LOL!

Dinner date tonight with DH, so gotta hit the shower!

Everyone be well!
(((hugs to all)))

I know all about that! Veronica is the Empress of Crestwood. I tackled the hardwood floor on Tuesday. In my smallish space, I've never quite solved the problem of litter scatter, so I'm always sweeping up little bits on the hardwood, along with scraping black fur off the carpet. Oh well.

It's a gorgeous morning, and I can't wait to get out there.

Take care of you, ya'll!

I see the light at the end of the tunnel......... and it's a good thing. This train of kids has about run me down. Seriously, I came home, put the garage door down, and am not planning to talk to anyone. DH is out of town, so that make the plan doable. Tomorrow *should* be productive on many fronts. The seniors are all gone to their picnic --- and I don't have to chaperone. I'm sure I won't get half of what I need to do finished because of interruptions, but there darn sure will be fewer tomorrow than I had today. Friday, final exams start for seniors, 4 days next week and I am done! Can you tell I'm ready?

Hello? Hello? Guess I'm not the only one missing in action for the holiday weekend. We had a great trip, visiting the lakeside home of friends in South Carolina. Great hospitality. It felt like a cruise--food and fun non-stop.

Today I'm starting my DEC diet: Don't Eat Crap. I'm aiming for low-cal as well as low-carb, as several of you have advised. I felt like an elephant next to the young lovelies in their bikinis all weekend long. (I know, I know. I'm not 23 anymore. But still.) There's another wedding to attend in July, and I don't want to risk busting the zippers in my britches beyond the extent I am now.

Tonight we start our sailing lessons. We're also up to our ears in information to study for the Docent-in-Training program at the Nelson-Atkins Museum. If learning new stuff keeps you young, I'm de-aging in a hurry.

A redtail hawk has landed on the light pole right outside my window, and is being harassed by a flock of starlings and one blue jay. Feathers are flying! I'm looking through the field glasses. The redtail had captured a little bird, but it looks like he's been forced to let it go. Off flies the hawk, with the flock in hot pursuit. What a drama! Good ol' Mother Nature.

Well, enough excitement for the day.
Hope all is well in your little nests.

Pretty much that's what I did this last go around. I need to stand firm on that, cause the eat crap grinch eases back into your life. Today I've already had enough crap to go beyond a two day limit. This end of school, people leaving, chance to go out to eat at lunch thing is bad for the waistline. I'm about to load up some new stuff on the IPOD and take lazy Lexie out for a big walk.

ONLY ONE MORE DAY OF KIDS --- (well except for graduation on Friday)!!!

Well...I've been trying to get a chance to write here for a couple of days but it's been nuts at work. My stupid boss said he couldn't get on the internet so he didn't do any work for a week!! I'm going crazy trying to get caught up. Seeing as I fell asleep in the tub tonight you could probably say that I'm a little tired.

The one good thing is that he actually bought me a new computer. It's being set up tomorrow. Looks like it will take about 3 hours so I won't be able to access anything in the presses computer. that will put me behind even more. *sigh*

I'm trying my damnest to get back on track. We had a good holiday and I ate everything in sight...nothing was sacred. I had desert every night and had snacks and breads...everything. I was scared to get on the scale when we got home but I had only gained 1 lb. Makes no sense to me. but, I thought getting it out of my system would be good. Plus having such high carb days would help me to lose when I got back on track. That was my thinking anyway. Didn't work.

Then Sunday I took all my sweaters to put away for the summer and tried on all my summer clothes before putting them in the drawers. That sure didn't take long cause most of them didn't fit well enough to even be brought upstairs. Now, whenever I eat something I force myself to think of all the clothes that don't fit and maybe that will help me to think before I eat.

Another ball tournament this weekend...we'll be having them every two weeks for awhile so it's kind of iffy that I'll be caught up with the weeding for awhile. It's so sad to see all the things that didn't make it through the winter in my garden. So far I can see that I've lost my lavendar, 2 hostas, 2 chrysanthemums, a jacob's ladder and quite a few lilies. Every day I think of something else and go looking for it only to not find it. Guess I'll just have to go shopping. lol

Off to do a little knitting.

Hi, Donna. Hope your computer installation today is flawless. You could use a break. I'm sorry about the plants--but, as you say, it's time to go shopping.

The first sailing lesson was...interesting. Lots to learn, needless to say. Luffing, jibing, and coming about. Knot-tying, rules of the water, and the way of the wind. I have a tendency to over-think stuff, and this is no exception. Mostly I kept thinking how COLD the water's going to be. It ain't summer yet!

I screwed up my courage, and put yesterday's menu in Fitday. Not too bad. I really don't want to go back to counting calories, but I have to. Combining that with low-carb consciousness, I should be able to manage my eating in a favorable way. DEC is the key. And also, no alcohol. That's hard--but at least over the next few weeks, essential.

I'm ready to go out and walk, but it's not even light yet. Early to bed, early to rise--that's me! Guess I'll spend some time with an art history book--or my sailing diagrams.

See you later, Babes!

DEC --- and careful about the rest of it, is all you need to know.

I skipped dinner last night and only had a little snack. After eating a larger than normal lunch, it helped to even things out. While I'm out of town next week, DEC and light/no dinner is my plan.
