My computer is at the Apple store--all data being transferred to my new Mac laptop. I caved. Donna, I hope your hassles are over!

As for your DD-- the liver is an xtremely forgiving organ, and can rebuild itself if given a fighting chance. I'll pray the best for your daughter.

Back tomorrow with a real keyboard.

Tomorrow it's back to the real world for me. I think I graded right at 1500 exams this week. Tonight we'll give Lincoln a last party -- next year we will be in Cincinnati.

Best news of the trip!!! I stepped on the scales in the rec center this afternoon and managed to be at exactly the same weight I was when I left home. Even if it's not the same on the home scales, it can't be off too much. I am incredibly proud of myself over that victory.

Gotta run. I need to go to the computer lab to print my boarding passes and pack my stuff up..... oh yeah and have a last toast or two to Lincoln. Painting starts at my house on Wednesday. Summer work plans are under way.

I know I've asked for your help before but maybe you guys wouldn't mind adding my dd to your prayers again? She was admitted to hospital this morning with a bladder infection, kidney infection and possible pancreatitis. They are keeping her in our little hospital here overnight and possibly transferring her to a bigger hospital tomorrow after giving her IV antibiotics and fluids. She's been sober 11 days now...but a little too late by the look of things. Anyway, if you could just add her in your prayers I sure would appreciate it. Thanks.

Donna, I'm so sorry. I know from close observation the damage alcohol can do. I'll surely keep your dd in my prayers.

The next tech domino has dropped, and I now have a new MacBook to complement my new iPhone. Every time I turn around, it's $99 for some other gadget or service. Still, it's pretty cool that my phone and my computer talk to each other--from anywhere. Now if I can just learn how to do all the stuff this computer can do....

Judy, hope you had a good trip home. Good luck with the rest of your summer projects.

Later, ladies.

Victory!! Big one!! I actually came home weighing less than I did before I left. I added lots of extra walking, three yoga classes and reduced exposure to all the food stimulation. I am so pleased!!
Well, it's back to reality. I did manage to catch up on badly needed sleep this morning -- went to bed at 10:00 last night and slept until 10:00 this morning. We went to the paint store this afternoon to get supplies so that we could start on this summer's projects tomorrow.

Donna, I am so sorry to hear that your daughter is having such severe problems. Of course she will be in my prayers.

I'm painting. How about the rest of you?

Donna, I'm still saying prayers for your daughter. I hope there has been improvement.

Just have a minute before we're leaving for an out of town ball tournament.

Dd is home and improving. It will take time for her liver to heal of course and the infections in her bladder and kidneys. Stupid...stupid.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Thanks for the prayers...they do help!

Hi Gang!

Sorry to be MIA for so long. I've been doing 'Mom" duty for more than a week. Dd called on Monday and asked me to take her to the hospital because of a migraine. She wound up across from the nurse's station (very noisy) in the ER for 12 hours. Morphine didn't work. Actually, I think it would have had she gotten enough, but she seemed to have been forgotten. They finally admitted her and she went up to a room about midnight. Finally, after enough morphine, she was able to sleep, and by Tues., afternoon the headache was gone. She decided to take the rest of the week off. Lots of talking between she and me. I've missed that so much. Today I got up early and went with her to her Dr., and he tried to get her to see how her lifestyle is ruining her health. Single Mom, two teenagers who don't respect her, abusive ex, power job where she is expected to raise millions for a performing arts school, baseball, cheerleading, soccer. And, she has decided that she needs to do it all. I honestly didn't raise her that way, but I think it must be in the "ether."

I'm doing pretty well. The house is coming along slowly. I dream of the day when we are in. I just can't see when that will be. Dh's dd and her fiance are doing the contracting on the house. Hard to talk turkey with them. Anyhoo, hoping to pick out paint this weekend. Paint is at least a week away. There aren't even walls right now. Waiting on windows too.

Barb: I bought myself a Mac laptop too! I love it. But, I think I would love it more if I could figure out what to do on it. I finally got it on my home network, so can get online. Yay!

My dd2 lost her job about three weeks ago. Her hubby has his profile out for a church with the Presbys in Texas. That would be great. They own their home, though.

This recession is the pits, you guys. My bff is losing $$ hand over fist in her store. She has cut out every single frill you can imagine. She is even eating less!!

We are doing pretty well, considering. I'm trying not to worry and to pray alot. Donna: Praying for your dd.

Peace, Peg

Just stopping in to say Hi.

I been going to WW meetings for 11 weeks, but joined the on-line version about 5 weeks ago and that is what I needed. Tracking, vitamins, water, exercise all seems to have come together. I've lost 12lbs - could be faster - but clothes are fitting a lot better - and the exercise is really helping with the arthritic hip.

Meanwhile, I'm sorry to hear that others DD are having problems. Mine has finally seemed to have come into her own.
oh,yeah, we are planning a wedding for June of next year - I love my future SIL - very nice man and has helped her a lot.
and she wants 'mom' to make her dress (and a couple other tops). Been a long time since I have sewn, but I used to love it - made my own wedding dress and my bridesmaid dress. So, going to do a couple practice items from the same patterns to get a good feel for it.
DD and both of the girls in her wedding are 'womanly' so found some very nice patterns in a larger size that will be very pretty.

Work is very slow for me, had a couple of months with hardly anything - but it is just starting to pick up again - although I should have sewing time.

hugs to all, and hope everyone's health gets better , and we all get through this stupid recession in one piece.

Hello, Mary Kay and Peg. Good to hear from you. Daughters seem to be the center of interest for many of us these days.

Donna, I hope your dd continues to heal. Making bad choices when you're addicted isn't so much stupidity as...well, addiction. She's forgotten what feeling good feels like, and that's very hard to come back from. I'm sad for you, because there's nothing you can do but stand by. I don't have to tell you to stay busy!

Peg, I'm lucky to have an Apple store three minutes from my house. I bought their OnetoOne program, which gives me almost unlimited personal support for a year. I'm hoping to take some workshops to learn how to make better use of the photo and business programs. Meanwhile I'm just happy to have a computer that can get "instant" Netflix movies on demand. I haven't missed owning a tv, but I do like to watch movies for relaxation, and that fills the bill perfectly.

We had a grand adventure over the weekend: driving to the middle of Kansas for the Symphony in the Flint Hills. We spent the night on a ranch owned by relatives, and saw some beautiful prairie scenery, all in bloom with wildflowers.

Also had the second session in the sailboat (Sunfish) on the water. Tricky winds, but we did much better than the first time.

It's raining this morning, so I think that's my clue to clean house, read a book, and lay low.

Have a good week everyone.

Took Sweet Pea to the vet yesterday and learned that she is a very sick little puppy. She has yet another bladder infection. She is on antibiotics again. This is the third one in her short life (13 months old). Dr. said he is afraid that she will go into pancreatitis if she keeps getting them. We are scouring the environment to see where she is getting the germs. It's a real puzzle.

Dd seems much better and is checking in more. Yesterday was a banner day. Let's mark June 15th as the day BOTH of my Dd's called me for no reason. Well, not exactly for no reason: the middle one called to tell me how to handle her sister. Sheesh. I listened and told her that I loved her and that she is a fantastic Mom. Which she is!

Our 27th anniversary is Thursday and we are going down to Laguna Beach to eat at our favorite restaurant. We have a DEEP marine layer hanging over us, so it will probably be cloudy. Who knows.

Love ya'll, Peg

I'm back. And, I haven't even been lurking...I've just been incredibly busy. We were out of town for a ball tournament and had the most wonderful time. It was soooo hot. Almost to the point of not being able to stand it. We have lawn chairs that have a top of them so at least we were in shade...the pups crawled under the chairs and slept the day away.

Peg; If you find out what is causing SP's problems could you let me know? Sora is again on meds for vaginitis which is quite close to a bladder infection. I've wracked my brain to try and figure out what is causing this. Vet told me she's just a repair dog...meaning he has to repair her constantly.

MaryKay: Good to have you back and to hear that your dd is doing well. A wedding...that's always fun. And, what an honor to be asked to sew the clothes. I used to do a lot of sewing also. In high school I made all my clothes (probably cause I was so heavy that I would have had to buy all black if I shopped in the stores). I think I got away from it because I couldn't stand having the mess out all the time. lol

Barb: Enjoy the sailing. Growing up in Vancouver we had a 16' boat and I spend many a weekend out with my Dad. I sure do miss that now. But, living in the Interior of BC it's not even close to the ocean.

Dd seems to be doing pretty well. Now that her boyfriend is out of the picture she seems to have calmed down. The stories are starting to come out and he wasn't the person I thought he was. Now he's thinking he's done the wrong thing by leaving her and is writing her letters. I've read them...and he's pretty controling and basically wants her to give up her friends and be only with him. Not going to happen. If I see him again...well, he's going to be sorry. Don't mess with a momma bears cubs. lol

I think I ate everything possible on the weekend. It would be impossible to even begin to list it all. Now it's over and done with. Luckily (and surprisingly) I didn't gain any weight. Yesterday I got back on track and even got on the treadmill. My legs and butt are so sore from walking which tells me that I've let myself go. Hard to believe that last year I was walking 4 miles every night. I'm back on acid reducers too....so, I've got to get myself on track and be serious about it. I sure didn't like the way I made myself feel on the weekend by eating all the junk!!

Boss is out of town this week...but the work still comes in. I'll try to get back tomorrow.

Hello, Donna. You lead a busy life--physically and emotionally. I'm glad you had a good time at the ball tournament, heat and all.

I'm sorry to hear about sick puppies. It would be difficult to track down the source of something like a recurring infection, and surely a worry to you, Peg. Hope SP will grow out of it.

Looks like a beautiful day. I bought a new pair of walking shoes online. They fit well and have velcro fasteners, so I won't be tripping over shoelaces anymore. My friend scoffs--says they look like nurses' shoes. But comfort is everything!

Good thoughts to everybody.

Hi all, I know I have been MIA. We are well into this year's painting project. We are currently doing DH's computer room and the laundry. The computer room had the last wall of wallpaper in this house. It took one full day to get it down. It has been more time consuming to paint that normal since we had to do only one wall at a time in both rooms. It's not an efficient way to complete things, but we had to knock down electronics, then get them back up and running quickly. In the laundry, there's just not room to move more than one appliance at a time. While we were at it, the computer room closet was emptied and completely repainted. DH was still working on a couple of computers as we worked on the room. Crazy process. The laundry, like other rooms with cabinets have been completely redone inside and out. At one time this afternoon, I was sitting on the top of the freezer painting the upper portion of a set of cabinets and taping off a section of the ceiling. That's crazy, too. I think I'm rambling.... it might be because I'm tired.
