We had a hot day yesterday! Not many of those so far this year. I had lunch with friends, and shopped. (Yes, I shopped.) I love the pretty long dresses you can get this year, and have bought three. Funny though--I remember "maxi" dresses from the 70s, and then they were kind of frumpy. Take care of you! |

| Good morning... Judy: Loved your post about the painting. I've gotten myself in so many different positions while painting that I had no problem picturing what you were doing. lol Our computer room needs paint sooooo badly. But, the thought of taking down all the computer stuff just about does me in. Also in the computer room is my Dad's 2 keyboard organ. I've played it for years but it doesn't hold the same interest anymore. So, I've taken a picture of it and I'm going to post it on a free website. If anyone want sit they will have to come and get it. I'm hoping someone will give it a new home and be happy with it. The wood is absolutely gorgeous so I'd hate to think of it being taken apart. It's taken a long time for me to come to this decision...but it's time. Barb: Shopping? Did I hear right? lol I love the long dresses also...but not for me. I'm into short sleeved hoodies right now. I've found 2 so far and just love them. The scale is creeping lower but not low enough. I'll keep at it though. I love this feeling of not being bloated and not feeling guilty cause I cheated with something not good for me. We get the grandkids tomorrow for the whole weekend. It's rodeo weekend here so there will be the parade etc., to take them too. The cowboy hats are ready!

| Well, Donna--did you survive the grandkids? Hope you had a great time. In fact, I hope everybody's having a great time, since nobody seems to be here! We took our final sailing lesson on Saturday, and got official cards for completing the course. That doesn't mean we are competent sailors by a long shot, but for now, we know what we don't know. Tomorrow (Monday) if all goes according to plan, we'll launch The Boat for the first time. We went out and scoped out the marina at Longview Lake this afternoon. So...if my next post is a bit soggy, well...there you are. Hope everyone had a good weekend. See you soon. |

| Have fun sailing Barb. Be glad it's not here...the weather has taken a total turn around. Yesterday was only 10C (52F). The day before it was really hot. Crazy! Yes, I did survive the weekend but it went by too fast. I enjoyed every minute of it with my grandkids. We had water fights, went to the parade, scrapbooked and watched movies while snuggling. Dh is showing his age and was a total grump all weekend. If he expects perfect children he's not going to get them. We all make mistakes and they will learn from theirs. My ddil's grandfather passed away Saturday night so it was a good thing we had the kids so they could race to the hospital to say their goodbyes. It's been expected but still hard. Also, one of the fellows on the ballteam lost his mom on Friday. So, we have two funerals to go to this week...but they are both on the same day. We could be racing from one funeral home to the other. (now I'm worried about who the 3rd one will be if it's true that things happen in three's) Tonight is the final ballgame for the season, except for tournaments. And, it's pizza night. If I can just limit myself to 1 piece I can live with that. Maybe I'll take along a bag of pork rinds and have that during their game. That way I won't be very hungry.

| With one small disadvantage--the wind was virtually nothing--the maiden launch of the boat was a big success. The boat is beautifully balanced and rigged. If we had had any kind of a wind, it would have been a great sail. We're going to try again later in the week if conditions for sailing improve. My friend gives me mega-credit at every opportunity for persuading him that sailing lessons would be a good idea. We learned so much--and continue to learn as we go. I've wanted to learn how to sail for years and years, and I can hardly believe this great opportunity has come along--with a great guy attached. If there is karma, somebody before me must have been very, very good. I'm going to have "beauty night" this evening. Nails and skin care. Maybe I'll go sit in the hot tub. Nighty-nite! |

| Barb, Sailing sounds wonderful. Our problem would almost never be NO wind. We are more likely to have way too much. I love going to the lake -- I hate fighting the wind. Wind is one of the reasons that we finally sold our boat. It did not handle it well at all. Donna, sorry to hear that you have two funerals in one day this week. Tough day. I'm sure your son and DIL were glad that you had the kids. I hung some pictures today, need to buy some new curtains for the computer room. I can't hang the rest of the pictures until the curtains are up. I'm looking for the ones with big grommets at the top. I think they have them at Penney's. I'll be there tomorrow.

| Good morning to you all from the heat of Texas. Yesterday, we hit the first day of actual temp over 100 (not just heat index). I should get out and walk right now -- it's only mid 80s. Later today will be brutal. Walking seems to take time off in this weather. I have just about finished up this summer's projects. Today I need to hang some pictures and replace items on the shelves in DH's computer room. Actually, that's what I probably will do this morning -- he's outside mowing the lawn. I would rather not have him underfoot while I'm playing. If I'm going to get anything done, I better get up and get dressed. a tickin!

| Judy...what are you going to do now that you've finished all your summer projects? You're really ahead of schedule aren't you? Our weather has really taken a turn for the worst. Rain, cold...yuck. At least it held out until ball season was finished. And speaking of ball season...dh just couldn't make it to the end without getting hurt. He took a line drive to the back of his leg...what a mess. I finally got him to the doctor yesterday and did he even get in trouble for waiting so long! He's bruised from the back of his knee right down to his toes. His skin is so stretched from swelling that it's shiny. They did xrays this morning and took blood samples to check for clots. The xrays will be read at 7 tonight. In the meantime he's on 2 meds..one for swelling and a blood thinner. Maybe it's time for the old boy to hang up the baseball cleats? lol Guess I should get back to work seeing as I only work 1/2 day tomorrow. Funerals are not my favorite thing to go to.

| Donna, Sorry you have such sad reasons to be off work today. I supposed relative to the last couple of years, we did finish early. This year, we have already done some things at DD's house, so she is not on our agenda. We are actually going to take a trip to New Mexico sometime after the middle of July. Before that though we will be having 15 people for July 4th including three little ones under three. It is likely that you can add 3-6 dogs into that mix, too. Overall it should be interesting! After the 4th, I'm going to DD's for a couple of days. We have a meeting to go to on the 9th and a dinner on the 10th. So, even though the big projects are finished, there's lots of smaller things to do. If I rest I rust!

| Good morning! It's only nine o'clock, and I feel like I've already spent a productive day. That only means a long walk and laundry, but there you are. Judy, stay cool! We're hitting heat indexes in the 100s this week, with the humidity very high. I walk early in the morning--before 7 o'clock--to keep from getting heat stroke. Speaking of that, we took the boat out yesterday mid-morning. We did catch a bit more breeze, just enough to make it interesting. But the sun did get hot after about ninety minutes, and I had to call it quits. Not much on my calendar for the next couple of weeks. I'll probably stay cool by spending more time at the art museum, preparing for the beginning of serious class in August. Donna, sorry about your DH's injury. Hope he recovers quickly. I see LCE friends on Facebook, but I'm not much of a Facebook participant. It seems like invading my own privacy to post stuff there. And so much nonsense does get posted! Oh well. Guess I'm an old fuddy-duddy after all. Take care of you. |

| Barb, I have to agree that there is wayyyy too much stuff posted on Facebook. I'm pretty careful what I post. I do like some of the games though. If you get a chance I did manage to post a picture of my grandkids in their cowboy hats. I didn't that was going overboard with posting there. Judy: Enjoy your trip. Dh is slowly mending. The bruising is all the way down to his toes now and is slowly working it's way across the front of his leg. The xrays didn't show anything and there is no blood clot...whew. Yesterday was definitely a different day for me. A 10 a.m. catholic funeral and a 2 p.m. united funeral. What a difference in the two churches. I don't think I've ever stood up and sat down so many times in one day. lol They were both nice services though. It rained last night...again. Just when I thought summer was here the weather has been crappy. Things are growing nicely, but it's too darned cool to be outside and enjoy them. I sure hope I get to eat those words soon! Back to work, I have to make up for taking yesterday off. Sure do miss the other regulars that used to post in here!!

| Barb and Donna, You can always "hide" posts from people that spend too much time updating on Facebook. Lots of kids are on there all day long and their status updates are constant. Their multiple posts block out the updates from people I would rather see. I just hide them. Right now, I think I have 17 people hidden from my feed. They don't know it and it makes things more the way that I would prefer.

| Thanks, Judy. That's helpful. I'll decide who the "nuisance" factors are and proceed accordingly. NOTHING on my calendar today. It will be another hot one, and the lake will be too crowded with speedboats to be safe for sailing--at least our style of sailing. So...I guess I'll take to a comfy spot with a good book. Hope all is well with our missing conversation partners. |
