Hi dear ones....

Had a great weekend at the lake, lots of mosquitoes, but lots of fun times, too! As the little ones get onlder you realize what a gift it is to spend time with them now!! Didn't LC and in fact, have probably put some pounds on... but today is Monday and I'll start again. Mom and I walked our usual 3.5 this morning... she leaves for NJ tomorrow so that will reduce the exercise for me (plus, it's been in the 90s and humid as a sauna here as of late)...

Shelley! I love to read about your runs.. I think it would be wonderful to do the 5K for DD's event - will she run with you? That might make the event go faster or be easier! Good, good for you!!

Barb, I'd love to see any pics you have from the BBQ - I love to hear the stories and hear of the victories! I have to admit that I LOVE facebook, it's one of the only ways to keep in touch with so many people in different countries, different states, cities, etc... and extended family, too... we are much closer to Roger's extended family (west coast) as a result of facebook so there are some real benefits...

Peg, I'm so sorry about the fm flare up - ugh! And I am glad they found the kitchen sink? but the microwave? It does sound sort of like an inside job... yikes, do I have this to look forward to?! We are being framed this week - very exciting to watch it - and Roger has his camera set on 15 minutes intervals atop a huge pile of topsoil so that at the end of every day we can flip through the pics and watch the progress in time-lapse photography - very cool!!

Donna, I hope the weather is better for you these days! We are getting the dog days here (hazy, hot and humid)..

Judy, my cousin is also a teacher and he has basically said the same thing to us this weekend at the cabins! Hang in there dearheart and remember, Christmas holidays are just around the corner!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Edit: so I drafted this but didn't post it yesterday, not sure why.... got busy! So here it is today! I hope you are all well and dealing with the heat!

Hugs to all!

Good morning ladies! It's very smoky here today but the sun is shining. We had an ugly cold, rainy, windy weekend so this is welcome. Not too hot either. Weather is crazy this year.

We had another out of town baseball camping weekend. Yuk! It's not fun when it's that cold (12C..66F). Being in a motorhome with 2 wet dogs isn't fun either. I did manage to finish one book and start another. And while reading I think I ate everything in sight. *sigh*..I will get my head straight yet. I'm still trying. I was glad to get home and get back into my usual routine.

This weekend I take one of the grandsons school clothes shopping. Micayla was two weeks ago. I'm pretty sure this one won't be as hard on me. If it's Nolyn..he wants a backpack and a bag of trail mix...if it's Kaedyn he wants jeans and a sleepover. I can handle that for sure. lol

Peg: I'm sorry you're not feeling well. With all the excitement of building and trying for the job it's no wonder. And having your things stolen? That's really crappy! Hope they were insured.

Rachel: Always good to hear from you. I haven't watched the video yet but I will tonight. Small towns are grand aren't they? Last weekend when Micayla stayed with us we went for a walk. Afterward she asked me if I new everyone in town because as you walk you have to stop to talk to people and they all knew my name.

Barb: A kayak! lol I have to say it doesn't surprise me. You really are having a good time. Good for you. My question...where do you store it?

Shelley: That's too bad that you won't get to run with your uncle. Maybe you can just have a nice long walk?

Judy: This weekend I was with a lady who is a vice principal of a high school. She also teaches grade 11 social studies. She can't wait for school to start! (maybe she's crazy?) But, this tiny lady is just a firecracker. She told us how she gets some of her classes motivated and I really think I would like to be one of her students. She doesn't take any crap and fights for her students too. Wish there were more teachers like her in our school system here.

Well, I'd better get some work done. I spend far too much time on Facebook...even peeking in there during work. I think it becomes an addiction...but for me a good one that reconnected me with family.

Have a good day everyone.

Preaching went well. Sinks found. Microwave is evidently working well for someone somewhere. I'm flat out with something. I think it is a bladder infection. Ask me about our health care system. I don't have a Dr., and am in "donuthole" with meds.

Oh, Rachel, welcome to my world. It was so humid this afternoon that it was like walking in a fog. No, it was a fog, a hot foggy sauna!

Peg, you had a good news/bad news post. Congrats on the apparent new job.......... sorry you are feeling so bad. Glad they found the sink......... bummer on the microwave.

Donna, enjoy taking the boys shopping. They are certainly easier and cheaper to buy for than are girls. I just let the buttons down on Miss O's school uniforms from last year. She is still the same size around, but has gotten taller. She will probably be able to wear those uniforms until Christmas at least. Uniforms make school clothes much easier.

Got to move toward bed......... I am NOT a morning person and going back to work requires that I be one.

Back to the sauna for us also...over 100 for the last couple of days and really humid. This is supposed to last for at least a week. I wonder what I did wrong to have the ugly cold weekend last weekend when we were camping?

I have been able to get rid of the few pounds that I gained camping so now I'm going to work on the other 20 that keep hanging on. I managed to stay away from the ice cream cake in the freezer so that's a plus. (I would throw it away...but it's dh's)

Judy: I will enjoy my shopping trip. I know now that it's Kaedyn that I'm taking this Saturday. He's really NOT into shopping. If I manage to get him into 2 stores that should be it. Then we'll hit the bookstore and home. I always get the kids a new book to read to start off their new school year.

Peg: Sorry you're not well. It's got to be stress that's triggering all this with you. Maybe it's time for a spa day to get away and relax?

Dd has managed to hang onto her job for 2 weeks now. Maybe she realizes I meant it when I said I was done with helping her out. Sure hope so...I can use that money for myself instead of her.

That's it for me today...back to work.

Paul McCartney concert in Dallas tonight........ why couldn't it have been last week before I was back at work. That's one concert that I would have paid the big money to see. I could have been in the new Cowboy stadium with 40,000 others.

Judy: I can't imagine being in a stadium with 40,000 people by choice! Even for Paul McCartney.

Ya'll: sinks found, faucets found. All under lock and key in the building and grounds dept. here now. Corian guy took them all. Get this: He also took the end of my banquette (2x2' beadboard) to write on the back for notes. Errrrrgh. Brought it back, though.

We move in on Sept. 1st, so packing kicks into high gear now. Unfortunately, I am not a whole lot better physically. I have a raging UTI, which I had to move heaven and earth to get medicine for yesterday. Yesterday was a "bed" day for me. Got up this morning and feel better. At least the low back pain has eased. Hurts to p**

A million little details to take care of now. Not the least sending a skirt back to Soft Surroundings (my favorite online store now). It came apart at a restaurant last week. Not the hips or waist - the seams in the middle right below my b***! I looked pretty funny walking out of there!

Still waiting for news from the church at which I interviewed. They still have to "hear" another guy and interview him and then one more. It wouldn't start until Sept some time. Personnel chair says I am the favorite. It would be nice to have some $$ again. Also, nice to be using my brain.

Well, gotta go pack. Ah, the sound of packing tape!

Love you all, mucho
Peg

I would't have minded the other 40,000 people nearly as much as I would have minded the 3.5 hour drive over there after working all day, then the 3.5 hour drive back in the middle of the night, THEN, getting up to go to work again today. Otherwise, I would have been there!

Glad the stuff was found. Hope the microwave turns up.

School starts tomorrow...... I'm home alone. DH is helping take care of his dad who was just released from the hospital. I've never been home alone on the first day of school. I really really do need to go set the alarm!!

Hello my little chickadees!

Flying by to say hey and hoping everyone is having a terrific week!

Judy is back in school...
Peg is packing, packing and packing...
Rach is busy with her new house as well...
Barb, Alida, Donna, Bren and Bert...how now??

I'm continuing to run; some days are better than others(depending on HEAT & HUMIDITY!!!...aacckk!) but I'm hitting or getting within a tenth, of 2 miles, nonstop.
The annual run for my uncle's BD is a 19K, and I'll be no where near ready for that this year, but who knows, maybe next year I'll give it a go.(but we won't hold our breath on that one either! har!)

Have a super week, m'dears!
(((hugs all around)))

Good morning everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted...again. Sorry, too much to do and not enough time.

I took my youngest grandson shopping for kindergarten on the weekend. What a hoot! You never know what is going to come out of that little guys mouth. I asked him if his play school teacher told him he was cute and his answer was....yes, and even after I was shooting off my mouth. lol After shopping he got to come to our house for a sleepover. This little guy never stops talking or moving around. I was exhausted. Sunday was my other grandson's birthday. I was told the plan was that ddil would make a cake and we would bring Nolyn home after dinner and have cake and give Kaedyn his presents. After I had a roast going in the slow cooker I got a call from ds saying there was a dinner at his in-laws for Kaedyn. Did we want to come? You can't tell me this was a last minute thing. I have no idea why we are never invited to these things but they weren't getting off easy this time. Why should I miss my grandson's birthday? So, we went and had a good time. Kaedyn is now 7 and this coming weekend is his turn to go shopping with gramma and spend the night with us. Thank goodness I only have 3 grandkids. I couldn't afford to have anymore. Plus I'm really getting tired. The 2 hours driving time is the worst. Especially after shopping all day. These little guys have definite ideas on what they will wear....and the boys are the worst.

My weight isn't moving. Maybe soon. I now have a walking partner. A young lady that goes into our store every morning or her breakfast yogurt asked dh if he thought I would walk with her. She's a really nice person and going through a tough time....her mother has ALS and is in bad shape and refuses to go into hospice. She's exhausted dealing with her as is her dad. Her mom has made life miserable for her for years and it looks like she's going to do it until she goes to her grave. So, if she needs someone to walk with and talk to I'm there for her.

Better get some work done...at least our heat wave seems to be over for now...but the fires are still burning everywhere.

Judy: What a nice thing to say..thank you!

Well, there is another change of plans as far as shopping with my last child. My ds phoned last night and asked if I could take him Friday night instead of Saturday night. I wasn't about to change things if it was because they were partying or something stupid. But there was a good reason. Kaedyn is nuts about skateboarding. And, he has a chance to go to a skateboarding tournament on Sunday with a pro! He will only watch of course, but this is so exciting for him. Once I found out the reason I agreed right away. So, dh will come with me this time. We will pick Kaedyn up Friday night and go straight to town and do the shopping and take him for dinner to McDonald's (of course lol). Then bring him home to spend the night with us. We will have him all day Saturday and then take him home Saturday night. This is good for me too because I will at least get one day of the weekend before going back to work. It's been over a month since I've had a day off so to speak. I do get next weekend to myself but the following weekend I get all 3 of them and we'll be baking and making things for the fall fair on that Sunday. Whew...I will need a holiday. lol

Only 18 more days and then we do go on holidays. Dh was sooo sweet...he asked his mom to come with us again. Hmph! Not my idea of fun but I guess I'll have to suck it up. He came up with a bunch of menu plans too but I told him where he could stick that idea. I'm not spending two weeks cooking and cleaning up after him and his mom. We'll see what happens.

Okay..boss is away today but the work isn't stopping. Gotta run..Take care everyone.

Hello, hello. The Happy Wanderer is back. I've been wallowing in guilt lately over losing it so badly to the Weight Creep. So I've picked September 1 as the start date for the New Me. Wish me luck. I'm just mad about not being able to fit into some of my favorite fall clothes--and cool weather will be here before you know it. In fact, it's pretty cool here right now, and likely to stay that way for another few days.

I checked with the ear doctor today about the ringing in my ears--a kind of high-pitched whine I've been noticing for quite a while. He took a look and gave me a hearing test. He says, "Don't anybody try to whisper secrets behind your back because you hear everything!" The upshot is, I'm intercepting a transmission from aliens. In other words, Who knows?? Nothing to "fix" unless it gets worse, or I get dizzy. Luckily, it doesn't really bother me.

I'm a full-time student these days, between Docent training at the museum, working on the Book of Isaiah to lead Bible study at my Circle, and preparing for a couple of other presentations. I'm just trying to stay more or less organized. I hate clutter, but I can barely keep up with the piles of paper that seem to propagate overnight.

I'm sure that teachers and preachers--not to mention grandmas--have the same problem. Good luck all of you!

Barb: Good to see you back. I know you'll be getting on top of the extra pounds Sept. 1...wish I could have as much faith in myself.

Ever since I spent one night with my neck held backwards while I painted the bathroom ceiling I've been hearing my heartbeat in my left ear. It just about drove me nuts at first. I've had just about every test possible from hearing tests to MRI's and the dr.'s couldn't find anything either. So, I was told to just get used to it. Some days are worse than others but I've been able to cope.

Looks like our plans have changed again and I'll be picked up Kaedyn on Friday night instead of Saturday. He's been invited to go to a skateboard presentation on Sunday and he's a skateboard nut. That's okay...we'll get him Friday night and head straight to town and do his school shopping. He can spend the night with us on Friday night and we'll take him home Saturday night. It's good for me too cause I'll get the whole day Sunday to myself. What a treat that will be! lol

You can feel fall in the air. It's getting darker so much earlier too. I'm not sure I'm ready for this even though it's been an extremely hot summer. The thought of snow is enough to give me the heebie jeebies!

Off to do some more work....does it ever end?
