| I love the red high heel icon. They should arrive today. I do hope they are tolerably comfortable.

| Well let's all kick up our red heels for the beginning of autumn. It sure feels like fall here--but we had an incredibly cool August already. Starting Day Three of induction. Not a huge achievement, but a pat on the back to me anyway... I've still got a link to Fitday, so anybody interested in details can go there. Wednesday is the first day of the week that I have a "free" morning. Here it is 10 o'clock already. I think I can start the vacuum now without disturbing the neighbors. The cat, however, will be displeased. Have a good day everybody. |

| The red heel were just delivered. They are sweet, and with the right outfit aren't too much for school. BUT........... one of them squeaks. How do you stop a shoe from squeaking?

| How to stop a squeaking shoe? I dunno. Sic a cat on it?? Seriously, you might take it to a shoe repair shop. A squeaky shoe really won't work in a classroom situation. |

| I found several suggestions on Google for putting baby powder under the liner. That will probably be my first line of actions. Check the pic........... do you guys approve?

| They actually make me think that they would be "Barb" type shoes. I could see you with a pair just like them.

| Hola! flying by to wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday weekend! We'll be low key, as usual. If I can light a fire under DH and take advantage of the nice cool morning, we might clean out the garage. Or not. I continue to run 2 days in a row, and take a day off; it's slow going, but I'm hopeful that when we get those brisk fall mornings I can start to add more distance. Gotta scoot...need to make some more hummingbird nectar! The little boogers are *drinking* us out of house and home <wink>, and I'm glad to oblige ![]() Everyone be well! (((hugs all around))) s

| Hi, Gang. Beautiful day here, and I spent it frivolously, while my guy entertained himself sealing his driveway. Ick. Last night we went to the First Friday event in the Crossroads district--art galleries, street musicians, people-watching. We stopped at Gates' BBQ for dinner, and I pigged out on burnt ends. Meat. Just meat. And lots of it! This morning I walked fast for an hour, with ABBA Gold energizing my head. Shelley, you are the fitness queen these days. Go for it! No Docent training on Monday, but we're in the throes of writing out scripts for our first tours, and it's a chore. Bit by bit, I'll get it done. I'm really looking forward to my first real public activity--as soon as October. Enjoy the Labor Day holiday! |

| Sunday morning: my resistance collapsed, and I got on the scales this morning--Day Seven. The Whoosh Fairy was good to me. Even though I know this is the "water weight" dropping off, it's still gratifying. Tomorrow, on to Week Two of induction--and doing it right this time. |

| Why resist a good thing? Congratulations on a visit from the Whoosh Fairy, Barb!! Got dressed up for church this morning. Black pants and shirt..... with red heels. I needed to try them out before giving them a go for a whole day. Also discovered that if I wore hose with them, they don't squeak. Now, I know wearing hose is a current fashion faux pas, but I figure with pants on no one would ever notice. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing hose make a comeback. They make my legs look lots better. I might start wearing dresses again. I don't have the knotty varicose veins, but I do have lots of the spider veins and less than picture perfect skin tones. Have a good holiday if you work and get Monday off. Since I'm actually about the only one here regularly that is still working full time, I can promise you that I will enjoy the holiday. Our next one isn't until Thanksgiving.

| Hi Judy. I like pantyhose under pants in cooler weather. One solution to the dress or skirt situation: fishnet or textured hose. They can have a neutral appearance if the pattern is small. |

| I like panty hose under pants in the winter also. Honestly, when you are on your feet all day, light support hose help the legs, and besides, hose keep your shoes from rubbing. I solved the problem of hose with dresses by mostly NOT wearing dresses. In the winter though, I do wear tights or something acceptable underneath. No hose always makes me feel naked and my room is so cold that it's not comfortable. A friend suggested spanx to avoid the naked feel. I do that on the occasions that I decide to wear a skirt..... which is never above knee length. Come on fashion.... give a shout out to us old guys. Give hose a comeback.
