Oh, wow, I sure didn't expect that. Thanks Judy, what a nice thing to say.

I'm still sticking to my treadmill every night. Last night it was up to 1.4 miles at 3.3 mph. I've watch every morsel that goes into my mouth. So, why did I gain .6 lbs. today? Every time I start an exercise routine I gain weight. It's no wonder I always quit them. I'm not going to give up this time though. I'm still thinking I'm not eating enough so I guess it's back to Fitday for me.

It's a dark dreary day today. I hate the fact that I now have to turn on my headlights to come to work. And it's dark so early at night! Gotta keep busy or the old winter depression will start to grab me.

We bought the new flooring. Now I'll have to nag to get it down. lol I'm good at that so I'm hoping it will be done in a couple of weeks. Looks like dh will buy the plywood on Saturday. I still find it hard to be with someone who isn't very good at building or repairing things. My dad and brother could fix anything and dad built our house and everything in it. He even built a 16' boat! I have to keep reminding myself that not everyone can do the same things. I'm just hoping this floor doesn't turn out terrible! lol Now I'm thinking I just might want to paint the hallway. Seeing as there are all different colours in the flooring...greens, dark browns and a tiny bit of red, I was thinking a light olive green. Then I'd like to find a wooden sign that says Family and hang all the pictures under it in black frames. I saw it done in a magazine and it looked really good. That's my project for winter anyway.

Off to work for me...have a good Wednesday!

Good morning...looks like I'm talking to myself. lol

We spent last night ripping up the old carpet. What a dirty job that is. Now that it's gone it's amazing how much brighter the hallway looks. I didn't realize just how dark that old carpet was. Dh seems gung ho on this project....or it could just be that he was very upset.

We have a young fellow working for us. Actually, it's his second time working for us. The first time we hired him he was just 16 and not very mature. He did nothing...so we had to let him go. He's 22 now and his mother said he was a lot more mature and would we give him another chance. She used to work for us and was a really good worker and we like her so we went against our better judgement and hired him. Dh figured something wasn't quite right but couldn't figure out what this guy was doing...until last night. He went back over the computer program for the last couple of months and found that he had figured out a way to change all the entries. He's taken us for thousands of dollars!! Of course he will be fired and dh says he's pressing charges. I'm just sick at the thought of him going to jail but he he's to pay for what he's done. Funny, but his mom is now running a different gas station and she actually fired a young man for not paying for an ice cream bar and look at what her son has done. I'm hoping this won't ruin our friendship. Also, he's taken so many advances on his paycheque that we'll be out even more money when he's fired. No wonder I wanted dh to not sign the contract last year!!

I didn't get on the treadmill last night due to working on the hallway. My muscles were just aching after doing all that work so I figured that it was a good enough workout. Stupid damned scale still didn't budge today. Barb...are you sure you're scale hasn't talked to my scale because I was doing pretty good until you started to say that yours was stuck? lol

Off to work again....at least it's a good tv night tonight.

Hello, my dears:

So good to read all your posts. I'm lurking, but not posting. I know. Don't do that! Terry and Mary Kay, how nice to see you again. I've been sparse here for a year or more.

I had to have blood drawn this morning, so decided to weigh myself. Our scale got lost in the move (though we'll probably find it in the Christmas tree box since dh did all the packing). I've lost 10 lbs since my last weigh in before the move almost two months ago. I've begun walking a little bit, and eating a lot less. As they say on the Biggest Loser: "Calories in. Calories out." Anyway, I knew that I was losing because I can see it in my body, but didn't know how much. I was pleasantly surprised. I've begun to lose the "muffin-top." I can take the double chin if I just didn't have this muffin-top.

My dd has HlNl virus complicated by pneumonia. Her dd had it two weeks ago. She has been a mess. I went in Sunday to do grocery shopping for her. I'm so glad that I did because she was about out of food for her and the kids. She has been deep into her own drama before this. Just can't catch a break. My dd in TX also had the H1N1 virus along with her two kids and dh. But, they are over it now. Her ds's school was closed because of so many absences! He's in 1st grade this year and already reading! I'm pretty impressed, I'll tell you.

Gotta jet!
Peg

Good to see you here Peg. Sorry to hear you have so many family members hit by the H1N1 Virus. It's really a bad one and so many people have already had it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't hit any of my family.

Today is my 22nd wedding anniversary. Not too bad for the second time around. I don't think we're doing anything special except go to the Legion for a steak BBQ tonight. That's fine by me. If I don't have to cook I'm happy.

Dh has ordered the plywood for the hall floor and will pick it up tomorrow. I'm amazed that he's getting to this so quickly. I haven't even had to nag...not fair! I'm very good at it. lol

I was hoping to have Micayla this weekend but with the mess dh will make I don't think it will happen. I wanted to teach her how to knit and thought she could maybe make her Dad a toque for Christmas. I'm the "queen of toque knitting" lol Just wish I could do more than toques. With next weekend being Halloween I know I won't be getting her that night. Oh, that reminds me to make up their Halloween buckets and get them to them.

Today is a slow day at work so I suppose that means I'll be shredding old papers all day. Not my favorite job but it has to be done. Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello ladies.
well, knee surgery last weekend and amazingly I am walking normally - totally not what I expected , especially after the bunion surgery fiasco which I am still dealing with.
I have had so much pain in this knee for a couple years and it was getting progressivly worse. I could just be sitting in a chair and it would start hurting.
now, no pain. ok. well maybe one of the little incisions pulls just a little -but I am completely amazed.
No crutches, just surgical tape over them, and I can bend and straighten better than I could before. and the grinding noise is GONE!! I am amazed by this.
Now to start thinking about the other knee. . . Can't wait to get the approval to start the track walking again. I can do 3 miles in an hour and it is indoor and nice and warm.

so, WW plan is still working. I am seeing 201.5 right now (was 228 in March). Slow as ever, but feeling very good about it. DH has pampered me all week - he's a good guy.

Congratulations on a successful surgery MK. I assume that this was not a knee replacement, because if it was.......... that is absolutely amazing. My dad's knees were terribly painful for him. I'm afraid that I may have inherited the tendency. I must admit though they are less of a problem since I have been going to yoga regularly. Like everything, exercise seems to help.

Tomorrow is Miss O's 3rd birthday. She is having her first real "kid" party, complete with a bounce house. Thank heavens the sun is supposed to shine. I think there are 15 kids invited. It will be chaos in the best of cases and would have been totally nuts if they and all the family members from both sides were caged in the house. We got her a little pink Disney Princess bicycle. It's really cute. But, the most important factor is that it is PINK. She is such a girlie girl. BTW, Miss O is going to be a big sister in June. That ought to rock her world.

Have a good weekend. I need to get cleaned up (already have been to yoga) and make out a new test for next week. Today will have to be homework day since tomorrow will be all about the birthday.

Hi guys. It's been a different day for sure. And yes, Shelley, dh is still alive. lol The floor isn't even close to being put down. He's spent all day just putting down plywood and even that isn't finished. Told you he isn't a carpenter. My job is just to give him moral support. I decided that if I try to help him....we'd never make it to our 23rd anniversary.

Dh fired the fellow that was stealing from us. When he showed up for work yesterday and dh confronted him he admitted everything. Dh has given him until the end of the month to pay us $1000 and we will not press charges. At least that way we would end up recouping some of our money. If he doesn't come up with the money then we will take the tapes to the police. The whole thing makes me sick.

Dd is again abusing her meds. She seems to think she's fooling everyone but she has absolutely no emotion in her eyes. I'm almost at the point of giving up on her.

Judy: Another grandbaby. Congratulations! There is nothing like cuddling a new baby.

Shelley: Ironing...hmmmm, that's my Sunday job. Something about freshly ironed clothes that makes me feel put together.

I got 4 scrapbook pages done today and my craft room tidied up. I was just finishing up the journaling on the final page when my toner ran out on the printer. Damn....a run to the store and $24 out of my pocket and I was finally able to finish it. I doubt I'll ever be caught up on my pictures.

I think tonight will be a tv and knitting night...so I'd better start now.

Sunday evening: Just back from the World Mission Conference in Cincinnati, and the wedding in Atlanta. Hard Work and Big Fun back-to-back. Wa-a-a-y too much to retell, but an excellent trip in every way. (Including not eating any of the cookies, pastries, cake, etc. that is the inevitable fodder at both conferences and weddings!)

Donna, I'm sorry to hear the latest chapter in your rollercoaster life. I hope the solace of scrapbooking and the exertion of treadmilling help release some of that tension. You have amazing resilience. No wonder everyone depends on you.

Peg, I thought about viruses while I was schlepping around airports and breathing people fumes everywhere. I haven't even had a regular flu shot yet! Hope everyone in your family recovers quickly.

Mary Kay, knee news is good news! Sounds like you're getting along great.

Judy--best news of all! New grandbaby. It's hard to believe Miss O is already three years old. New sibling will be a big dose of reality--but she'll cope.

Shelley! What are your work hours these days? Not too bad being back on the job on a regular basis, I hope.

I'm back to "art school" tomorrow. We're beginning our unit on the new American Wing. Great stuff. I passed my "tour test" last week, so I'm off and running as a guide, and I feel like the real deal.

Gotta get my beauty sleep. Take care of you!

Hi everyone, I just wrote a long post and then couldn't save it because my signature was older than 60 days - boo hooo!

Just a quick note to say I'm back - started last week - joined WW (ONLY for the weekly weigh=on - I simply need some kind of accountability and this works), although it makes me crazy they are anti-fat and pro-sugar (UGH!!!)... started at 167 and am now at 162 - am hoping my next weigh-in on Thursday will show a few more shed... we'll see...

I walked 3 miles this morning - it's gorgeous here in New England - crisp blue skies, red maples and sugar maples covering the valley in a carpet of gold, orange, red, and coral - just mind-blowingly pretty!

The house is coming along fine - a little behind schedule but that was expected - the solar panels are up - mechanical roughs are in (electrical, plumbing, heating/cooling, etc.) - it's so exciting! We spent hours up there yesterday sweeping like mad men - and it's good exercise!

I am almost finished with my coaching certification - it's been almost a year! I am LOVING the coaching and find it has changed my life - I have a terrific group of clients, but always room for more if you or anyone you know wants a coach...

In any case... it was so amazing to see Terry back on the boards and welcome back to Mary Kay, too (and congrats on the knee surgery - I know that is in my future so I read your posts with great interest!)

love you all and see you again here soon! Rachel

Good morning. There is snow all around us....way to early for this crap. So far all we have is very low cloud and the chance of rain. That's fine by me....just the thought of that white stuff makes me shudder.

The floor is still in the same shape it was on Saturday. I suppose I could start whining...but I feel sorry for dh who is now having to work the shifts of the fellow he fired. I'm going to have to be patient until we hire someone else. It's kind of like following the yellow brick road down the hallway to the bathroom....half plywood and half not. lol

Barb: Good to see you back. I think I was talking to myself there for a couple of days. Congrats on passing your tour test.

Rachel: Well, it's sure good to see you back with us! And down 5 lbs. is great!! Maybe that's what I need is to join a group where I have to weigh in around people. I'll think about it.

Judy: I sure enjoyed seeing the pictures of Olivia's party. I didn't realize that her middle name was Grace....that's funny because that's the exact name that my neice is giving to her baby when it's born in a couple of weeks. Olivia Grace.

Shelley: How's work going? Back in the groove yet?

Alida, Brenda: Where are you? You are missed.

Yesterday was a good day for me. I started out with laundry and then spent a couple of hours in the kitchen getting my bacon and eggs ready for the week, then on to 4 doz. lc cookies for the freezer, and then I made supper ahead of time. I even got to spend a little time with my scrapbooking. I'm working on the grandkids pages when we took them to the rodeo parade. Too much fun.

Speaking of my grandkids...I see on facebook that my ddil has posted that 2of the 3 have the H1N1. I'm pretty sure that means the 3rd one will get it too. They all have to stay home for a week and their internet is down. Wonder how ds will handle that? He loves his internet.

I'm on again off again on my woe. Can't seem to just stick with it. I'm good Monday to Friday and then blow it on the weekend. It didn't help that it was our anniversary on Friday so we went out to dinner. I know better than to cheat....just didn't stop myself.

Oh wow, it's so great to see another of our friends come back to us. Rachel, we have missed you! It's good to have so many back on board. As for feeling like you have gone to the dark side by going to WW, it's all about what works for you. What works is accountability -- no matter how you get it. I am discovering that accountability may even be more important in maintenance than it is in losing. I'm still mostly tracking what I eat and consistently tracking exercise and steps/miles walked. Hummm, the thought of steps reminds me of Heather. She should be in her house by now. I wonder if she has been able to maintain her weight through all the building. Maybe she will check in with us soon, too.

Thanks to all of you that have stopped by my facebook pages and commented on Olivia and her party. It was a fun time for her. DS and DDIL said that the amount of presents was obscene (and it was). They wished that they had put "no presents" on the invitation. After Olivia went to bed last night, they sorted through all the stuff and took out things that she didn't remember or that had not been given to her by a family member and boxed them up to give to a children's charity at Christmas. I'm pleased that they made that choice.

I'm pooped. School isn't so much about teaching now as it is about doing some stupid report to prove that I am doing my job. I easily spent three hours on one such ridiculous report today....... and will spend more time tomorrow. I wish I had kept a ledger of all the hours that I have spent in the last three weeks on equally unproductive efforts. Yea for yoga and the chance to decompress. Then an even bigger YEA for DH. He went to the cafeteria for carry out vegetable plates for dinner and then brought home the big surprise of the day...Domino's Chocolate Lava Cake --- amazingly decadent! Yummy. I only ate one of the pieces and saved the other for tomorrow. I call that being accountable for this day.

Well, Girlfriends, being the Best Lil Low-Carber on the planet doesn't seem to be doing what I want it to do these days. But what the heck. If I hadn't made the decision in September, I'd be five pounds heavier instead of ten pounds lighter, and that's a net advantage of 15 lbs. so I'm ahead, right? Any rationalization will do!

Judy, yesterday at our museum training class, we got a whiff of how the museum tours are geared to the curriculum requirements of KS and MO schools. The museum staff works hard to match up teaching objectives with tour objectives so that teachers can more easily justify the field trips. Apparently the chief measurable value of education these days is how much time the kids spend in their seats in the classroom. You have my sympathy.

Snow already, Donna? Ack. Why don't you just keep it all up there in Canada for another three or four months?

My Procrastinator is working overtime. I've got to make a To-Do list, or I'll never get anything done. See you tomorrow!
