| Oh, my! October so soon! We've started off with an autumnal day--gray and rainy. Just right actually. I have a busy day planned, including leading the Bible study at Circle (we're studying Isaiah), a flu shot at Costco (I hope), and a lecture this evening at the Nelson. Among the many good wishes I received yesterday was a Happy Birthday message from the Community Blood Center. This reminded me it had been a while since I last gave blood. So I did that. I always consider giving blood a form of thanks for the huge gift of life and health that I've enjoyed for...well, going on 64 years! You can expect quite a bit more discussion from me on the Taubes book, but chances are I'll post it in the general forum for a wider audience. I'm fascinated by his thoroughness--and by his rebellion (which I share!) against conventional wisdom about the causes (and cures) for obesity. Take care of you! |

| Happy Friday! You know, Fridays still feel different, even when every day is Saturday (except Sunday). My younger sister arrives this evening for a fly-by visit, with her husband arriving tomorrow. All the "girls" from our BBQ team are paying a visit to the American Royal BBQ tomorrow, where we'll meet up with Colorado BBQ buddies. One of the CO teams has added Carolyn's Cheesy Potatoes to the menu at a restaurant he owns, and they are a popular choice. How about cheesy cauliflower?? Speaking of which, when my girlfriends took me out for birthday lunch, the restaurant had delicious whipped cauliflower on the menu! I know a few of our LCE friends from this conversation are still lurking in the world, 'cause they show up on Facebook from time to time. Miss you here, Ladies, but I'm always glad to see you online. My educator friend from Pakistan is also arriving this weekend, so I'll have some hosting duties with her. She's not staying with me this time however. Gotta do some housekeeping today! That usually doesn't take long. Hope it's a good day for you. |

| Good morning. Happy Saturday. Why don't you just go back to bed? I woke up to a full moon blazing in like sunshine. When that happens, I can lie in bed and make shadow puppets on the wall. So I do. My sister arrived, so we'll have some family fun today. I'll try to dodge the many opportunities for consuming carbs--except probably the alcohol variety. Oh well. Enjoy the weekend. |

| Do you feel like you are talking to yourself, Barb? I've done that a number of times myself. I have definitely been dropping in to read, but just haven't taken the time to post. This was the end of the first grading period. The end of a six weeks always takes extra hours to complete grading and complete marks for submission. I stayed at school until 6:30 last night to get mine done. This morning I certainly didn't get up with the moon shining in. I slept in until 9:30. I didn't even get dressed until 1:30............ yeah, DH is out of town.

| I'm here, lurking. Sorry. I feel guilty for missing birthdays and other important stuff. So sorry. I've been in bed for much of the day for two months. We are settling in. My dear brother is going to visit this week so I am working as much as I can without injuuring myself, to get stuff done. Oh Judy! I do wish you were here. I'm making curtains. How hard can that be? No hard, just straight lines. But, measure twice, cut once. I'm so afraid that I won't measure right. I have cut the curtain material, but not the lining. Austrian balloon curtains for the kitchen. Missing you all. IBS has taken pounds off. Not the most fun way to lose them. But, I've still got stubborn ones to lose. Love you all, Peg

| Hi, Peg. Great to see you! I knew you were in the throes of homemaking--I'm just sorry to hear it's been so rough on you health-wise. I'm all admiration for people who sew stuff--that's one frustration I finally gave up on. This morning, I'm hosting my friend from Pakistan. We'll be attending Sunday school classes and worship at different churches this week and next week, so she can give information about the schools and other activities. Of course we hope to drum up some support. This time of year, don't you feel assaulted with fund-raising requests?? Well, here's one more. Had a fun dinner with family last night. I ordered a huge steak and brought at least half of it home. I think my appetite actually has diminished since I've been LCing faithfully. But I did eat quite a lot yesterday. Have a good day everyone. |

| Am I the only one having weird things happening to me on this website? Last night I tried to visit and was told the site was Forbidden by my server. This morning I notice my post from yesterday is gone. Weird!! I'm down just over 1 lb. from yesterday. I stuck to my guns and stayed with the plan. It might have something to do with the massive headache that I had last night. Or...the headache could have been sugar withdrawls. Either way, I stayed with it and the scale was kind enough to show me it's worth it. A gorgeous fall morning here today. Gotta love this time of year even if it means pulling out all my flowers. Sunday I pulled all the yellow daisies and it didn't even make a dent in the garden. Much more to go, but a lot of them are still showing colour so I'll leave them for awhile. Back to work...have a good day!

| OK... fyi... Dixie just posted an update in the Site Announcements forum. The server *crashed* last night without warning, so Dix has been working on getting the site moved to another server. There may be some more *bugs* as the day progresses, but hopefully things will get back to normal soon. Bless her heart...I think she's had a *bad day at black rock*, yanno? Everyone hang in there. We can communicate via email should we have the need.

| Good morning. Today is the day that I've been waiting for...vet day for Sora. I'm hoping to find a reason why she is having these seizures. It's so scary when she has one. I'm afraid he's going to tell me that he can't do anything unless he sees her having one but I have to take her so I can at least feel like I'm doing something. I have questions as to what I should do when it happens anyway. Down another pound this morning. I even got on the treadmill last night....whooo hoooo for me! lol After watching The Biggest Loser last night I was really surprised to find that they are preaching a lot of the ways that we eat. For instance Jillian told everyone that changing from mashed potatoes to mashed cauliflower was a good idea. Well....we could have told her that. So, I think their woe is a combination of low carb, low fat and a ton of exercise. I mean really, have you ever heard of anyone losing 28 lbs. in one week? I'd be dead if I did that. Dd is also going to the dr. today. Her electrolytes are out of balance as is her potassium level. She now sees just how much damage the drinking did to her body. She's dropped a ton of weight without trying also. Looks terrible. She's going for an ultrasound tomorrow too. My grandkids are coming for Thanksgiving this weekend. Can't wait to see them to find out how school is going. I did talk to Nolyn on the phone and he told me he's learned 2 things in kindergarten so far. The first was recess...you do a lot of running. And the second is that you colour everything! lol I can just imagine that he keeps everyone very entertained in the classroom. Guess I should get to work. Invoices tomorrow so my cut off is noon and I have lots to do. Have a good day...enjoy this gorgeous fall weather.

| How many years have we all been visiting here? It always takes me by surprise when you talk about Thanksgiving, Donna. I guess it makes sense that your harvest celebration would be much sooner than ours. I would assume that most of Canada would be covered in snow by the end of November. Of course Texas is not the US norm, but that's about the time we look for the first freeze. Enjoy your weekend!

| Donna, it's good to have you back--and sounding perky, too. Yes, the fall weather is upon us, and the trees are turning glorious. I spent 45 minutes this evening at the church with five kids (kindergarten to 3rd grade). We were supposed to be doing a "poetry writing" workshop--but things went off in several "unexpected" directions. We all had fun. And their parents got 45 kid-free minutes. I was hoping to practice my "Write Way to Art" tour with the kids, but it was hard for them to, um, focus. Me too neither! After the nice ten lb. drop, my scales are evidently broken. Not moving! But I'm feeling good, keeping track of this and that. Consulting my Fitday records, going back to 2004, I see that I am now at my average weight during most of that time. Although I maintained my goal weight (130-132) for more than a year, it's possibly unrealistic to think that's a natural or comfortable weight for my body at this time. We'll see how it goes. Now I can pull my Test Pants clear over my hips, zip them all the way up (suck it in!) and button them. Can't move in them yet, but hey....progress, no? This is an action-packed week. I'm taking it one day at a time for sure! Take care of you. |

| Judy: Not all of Canada will be covered in snow by the end of November. I guess it depends on where a person lives. Usually, we don't get any until December. This is the only desert in BC so a real lot of snow isn't usual for us. (seems too early for me to be talking the "S" word...lol) I had my vet visit this afternoon. I don't have any answers but the tests will start tomorrow. I'll have to take Sora in at 9, 1 and 5 for blood tests. There was a lot of medical talk going on and I'm not sure if I understand it all. He said he spent hours trying to find something that would tie together all her problems...the thyroid, skin problems, weight gain etc., and didn't come up with anything. So, the tests start. Sure hope it's not going to cost me an arm and a leg. In the meantime I was given instructions on how to handle the seizures....and reassured that they won't kill her. Not too sure if that makes me feel better or not. I did my time on the treamill tonight...and find myself looking forward to the morning when I can get on the scales again. Seems to me I used to feel this way and I kind of like it.
