| Thank you, Shelley! I remembered about the clocks, but not about the date. You're still on top of things. The Halloween party was fun. I ate the bean-less versions of chili, and sampled the dips with pieces of celery and green pepper. Drank too much wine, but you can't be totally, utterly saintly all the time--even on All Saints Day. Naturally, the cat woke me up at the usual time. She doesn't observe Daylight time, or any other form of human time management. Since I've been up for so long, I wrote a poem about my cat. Or any cat, for that matter. My cat has a number of places she sits in. The sliver of chair where my derriere fits in. The top of the pillow when my head is on it. The paper on which I am writing a sonnet. The step on the stairs where my tread is unsteady. The jacket laid out when I致e brushed it already. The book in my lap that I知 keen to get through with. Between me and someone I知 wanting to woo with. The page of the Times that I知 reading the news on. The shelf in the closet I壇 like to put shoes on. In front of the sink when I知 washing the dishes. The spot she痴 not wanted痴 the one that she wishes. Sound familiar?? Welcome to November everybody. |

| One of the best parts of having an early rising partner is that the only time I have to get up to take the dog out is when he's not here. I had full intention or rewriting a test this afternoon..... I made the original at school last spring. Apparently I upgraded my program at school, and haven't upgraded it at home. I couldn't open the test bank or the previous version. Good thing I don't need it until Tuesday.... I'll try to make some time to work on it during a video tomorrow. Oh well............. |

| Hi dear ones! Happy November! I looked all over for you all until I realized, oh yeah! November! Time to change the thread... thanks Shelley!! Judy, sounds like these kids (and their d*mned parents) keep you on your toes, I groan when I read your posts sometimes - please know I am sending good energy your way! Power on, girlfriend... Barb, you ARE the Goddess of Low Carb - and you have earned and have every right to be proud of your will-power!! I do bow in your general direction, regularly. really! Peg, I am holding all the love and tranquility I can for you and for your DD and her family... please know that if there were anything, any little thing you think I or we could do to remedy any piece of this, you would not hesitate to ask. One of the strongest messages I learned in my leadership program was that good leaders ask for help - I know both you and your DD are leaders in your hearts and in your families... much, much love to you both! Quick update... why I ever thought anything except low carb was right for me is beyond my comprehension these days... I weighed in this morning (on my WW scale, ha ha ha) at 158.5 ... ... it's been months since I've seen anything below 160 so yeah for me! I also peed on a keto strip today and it was a dark purple - that's always a great motivator for me... I have a long way to go, but the I'm eager and happy to be on the journey - happier than I've been in months about the weight thing...Mostly... thank you ALL for being at the reading end of my posts here. It means the world to me. ![]() MUCH love - Rach |

| Thank you, Rachel. But there's only ONE Goddess on this site, and we ALL bow to her with enormous gratitude for making this meeting place available. ![]() Congrats on your immediate reward for WW/low-carb compliance. Isn't that the best feeling? But do keep in mind that it isn't all about weight. You really will be healthier and more energetic (nah--nobody could be more energetic than you always are!!) BTW, this is me trying to convince myself of all those things. ![]() I have a museum tour today, so I've got to get back to my notes. See ya'll later. |

| Rachel: You're doing so well. Good for you. I'll use you as my inspiration as I battle these 20+ pounds that have found there way around my middle. Anyone who has visited my site on Facebook knows that we have exciting news in our family. My neice that I "found" last year has had her baby. We now have a little girl named Olivia Grace to spoil. I don't have the particulars re weight etc., but I do know that she's fine. So, now I have become a Great Aunt for the first time. Can't wait to see some pics. On Sunday I started painting the hallway. 7 1/2 hours later I had the first coat done and there wasn't a bone in my body that didn't hurt. I don't have the time or the energy to paint for long after work so I've been doing just a little bit each night after dinner. I'm about 1/3 done on the second coat. Good thing there are bends and twists in our hallway so there are spots I can stop painting and it doesn't show. I think I'm going to like the colour which is kind of like a pea soup green. It blends in nicely with the light green in the front room. I'll sure be glad when it's done...but I still have 15 doorframes to paint white. As I've said before....why do I start these projects? lol Our snow is all gone but it's still cold. I'll take the cold over snow anyday. Dd raked all the leaves for me while I was at work yesterday so that's one more job gone. (until the lilacs decide to drop all their leaves). Now off to work....have a great day everyone.

| Just popping in to say hello. Yesterday was a fine, fine day. Beautiful weather--I walked everywhere I went. Spent the morning at the Nelson-Atkins, viewing and pondering. I'm really into this art thing! It's another beautiful day today, so...time to step into my walking shoes! See you later! |

| Friday morning. Opening Day at the outdoor ice rink near where I used to (yay!!) work. I wasn't going to show up at 6 a.m. for the Inaugural Skate, because, after all, I DON'T HAVE TO GO TO WORK!! But I did anyway. It's another beautiful day, and I couldn't resist. It will take me a while to get my skating muscles back, but I'll wait until the crowd thins to practice. In a little while, I'm off to the museum to do a tour. Dozens of 3rd graders totally enthusiastic about art--or at least about getting out of school for the morning. I'm hoping to have my act together today, timing and all. But you never know. The scales actually dropped two whole pounds yesterday, which was a total shock. The needle hasn't moved a millimeter since mid-September. Of course, I've got them back today. But still, as I always say, once gone, always gone. I'll consider the bounce back up merely a matter of water weight. Who knows? This may be a sign that my body is resuming a downward trend. Happy Friday, everybody. |

| hey chickadees! Flying by to say hey! I think of you guys everyday...makes me smile BIG! Work is busy...I put in over 45 hours this week. We are now doing Robotic surgeries(think hysterectomies and other gyn procedures) at our facility, and it's in high demand. Looks to be a busy end of the year. My running has slowed waaaaay down. sigh. I was afraid that would happen, but I guess the good news is, I at least get 3-4 miles in per day at work. Not the *good* kind, but it's movement, so there ya go! Well, the Kass and the husband are both hungry, so guess I'll go dish up some dinner! Everyone be well! (((hugs all around))) s

| Hi guys. It's been awhile since I've posted here but I've just been so darned busy. Still painting but the good news is I finally finished the walls today. Tomorrow I will start on the door frames. Judy, that darned hall makes 3 twists and turns and there are doorways off of it. It's going to be heJJ painting them, but the result is going to be really nice. Dh figured I would run out of paint so today I made a quick trip to town to buy a quart of paint. When I came home I started up painting again only to find out that I would have had enough paint in the first place. Grrrr, why do I listen to him. This H1N1 is getting scary...and confusing. One doctor says if you were born before 1957 you don't need the shot...then another says you do need it. I have no idea what I'm going to do yet. Did I tell you that I'm a Great Aunt now? Judy I was wrong...her name will be Olivia Mae....I though her middle name was Grace but it's not. She's just gorgeous and I think this Great Aunt will be spoiling her for sure. She was born Nov. 3rd and weighed in at 6lb.14 ozs. Mom and baby are fine. Dh is getting exhausted working so many shifts. And now to make it worse our midnight girl needs 4 days off to go to a family funeral and another girl is on 3 weeks holidays. I wish he would just get rid of the stupid store! Not going to happen though. Other than working and painting I'm not doing much else. Lol...there isn't time to do anything else. I'm off now to do a little reading and probably go to bed early. Have a great weekend.

| First coat of paint was put on the doorways today. The end is in sight!! But...it wasn't pretty today. Lily came to me wanting outside. So, like a fool I put the paint tray on the floor and went to open the back door. She never takes long if it's cold so I just waited for her. She came flying in the door, and ran straight for the hallway. Yup...ran right through the paint tray. I yelled at her...never yell at a dog...they get scared and run more. She ran down the hall to the bathroom, then turned around and ran back again toward the living room....and the laminate flooring. Luckily, I grabbed her just as she was heading through that doorway. I'm so glad that dh hadn't put the new flooring down yet in the hallway. There were puppy prints all over the plywood. But, she also got paint all over her chest and as she was running the fur was going side to side and throwing paint on my walls! I put her in the kitchen sink and then tried to figure out how to get oil base paint off her her fur. I don't know why, but dish soap did the trick. After I dried her off and made sure that the paint was gone from between her toes I put her down and the brat ran for the wet paint on her doorjams and dragged her face down it. Fur stuck in the paint. I know she did it on purpose! My feet hurt from standing all day, as do my legs. My hands are throbbing and I'm sooo tired. So....how was your day? (and if any of you are laughing...look out!)

| Donna, you painted quite a picture, as it were. Nobody laughing here! We've all been there too many times. On Lily's behalf, I have to think she didn't ruin your doorjamb "on purpose" to annoy YOU. I don't think pups understand the concept of "wet paint" the way humans do. But never mind. What a mess!! Gorgeous weekend here. We decided not to go sailing, however. The wind was a bit brisk, and the risk of cold water sloshing into the boat (mostly over me!) wouldn't have added to the pleasure. The boat goes into "drydock" (in the garage) this week. I'm still puzzled by the refusal of my body to let go of scale weight. However, yesterday, I wore a cute dress that fits now, and I can wear most of my winter pants--a bit snug, but okay. So...primary goal seems to be working out. I'm minding my carbs extremely well. Did I mention the shoes? I splurged incredibly to purchase a pair of MBT walking shoes. (Knowing what I know now, I'd have bought them online, but never mind. They really have to be tried on.) These shoes have a "rocker" sole with a very springy heel insert. They take some getting used to, and are supposed to work the muscles in your legs and torso in a big way. I don't know about that part (yet), but the shoes are excellent to walk in. MBT supposedly stands for "Masai Barefoot Technology" but I think it mostly stands for b*llsh*t and marketing. Anyway, I like the shoes--and they are much more technically effective than the Skecher clones I tried on one time. It's way too early in the morning for me to be "at work," but I figured better to do something useful than lie there wide awake in bed for another hour or two. So...good morning, my friends. Happy Monday (oxymoron?) and have a good week. |

| Hi all, just a quick check in from the road - the (quick) visits with the nephews and their families in Denver area were wonderful - I am definitely a 3 year old at heart - and had GREAT fun with the tots (yes, with the adults, too, but I really do gravitate to the little ones, we have a ball)... now we are in Palm Springs dealing with DH's uncle who has gotten much worse in the last 3 days or so (we are told, we only got here yesterday) - he only sleeps - is in like a semi-coma, they can get him sitting up to eat and feed him, but he doesn't open his eyes or respond... it's bizarre and very hard on DH (this man is like a surrogate dad for him)... his doctor is on vacation until mid-December and now we are trying to figure out how to get him to someone, anyone who can tell us what the hell is wrong - is it a medicine problem? did he have some sort of stroke? Is this just some weird side effect of the demenia? Oh it's heartbreaking, really. And when we aren't visiting him at the care facility, we are scrubbing down the bathroom and kitchen in his little house (filthy) and starting to try and get the place ready to be shown for sale, including dealing with some SW art (how much is it worth, if anything, how to get it sold, or inventoried or stored, or what)... and get the car sold and the dog moved to someone or another. sigh... am really not focused on low carb these days but am trying to eat only good things... I don't expect to lose anything this week (maybe even gain, I suppose)... but the focus is on more important things at the moment. Hope you are all well... much love - R |
