Monica I seem to remember seeing your pics once and you looked great!!!!! You have maintained well. Could you possibly be right where you should be? I want to get back to where you are. PROUD!
At goal I was anywhere from a 3 to a 6 depending on the maker. I'm 5ft 4 and pretty small boned(size 4 ring,5-6 shoe). People usually guessed me at 114-120 when I was around 134. I do not expect to get back in those clothes though just because I hit that weight again. I think I looked smaller because of all the muscle from a few years of exercise(that started before the proper eatting). I know it will take a good long time!!!!!!!!!! Sigh!!!!!!!
I missed my morning exercise and am either going to go walk or ride dh's stationary bike.
I refuse to face another summer with flab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Flat out refuse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow what a great thread!

Mick thanks for sharing these thoughts. I too have thought a lot about this.

I haven't found that my body resists weight loss any more this time around. It took me the exact same amount of time to reach 173 pounds this year as it did last. Only last year I started out in January weighing 210, this year 196. I thought it was very interesting how my body did that.

I really think it comes down to commitment. How badly do I want it? If there is no doubt in my mind that reaching goal AND STAYING THERE is a completely noble and worthwhile goal and I am COMMITED to that end, I will succeed. But doubt seeps in. Do I really need to lose weight in order to feel good about myself? And if so, what's wrong with me? I see other people who are obviously overweight and they seem happy. Why am I so obsessed with my weight? Why can't I just be fat and happy? These are the doubts I deal with.

There were some great words of wisdom written by BC om commitment. I'll see if I can't find it and bump it.

Gregg, what good insite you have! I really shouldn't say its slower becaue I haven' given it enough time and been 100% commited. I've done really well lately keeping the carbs at around 60 after subtracting the fiber. So lets see how it goes! I also am not starting at 207 again so that probably has an effect.

Therese, I used it for a bit while watching my son do his homework on the computer.
I discovered pedaling backwards had me feeling some inner thigh muscles. How wierd!
I haven't been to a fitness center in years. Is it more motivating?

We often talk here about how sometimes staying on track is effortless, and at other times, well....

I was reading one of Cheri Huber's books, based on her zen talks. I love the way Buddhist teachers put the seemingly complex into such achingly simple terms. In her chapter on Commitment, she says,

"Once you make a commitment, anything is possible.....Until you make a commitment you waffle... As long as there is a back door, you will be glancing at it and thinking about escape, and won't look in the direction of freedom."

I thought about that in terms of our woe. Occasionally I still glance over my shoulder, peek out the back door, and wonder if I really need to do this for the rest of my life. Very quickly, I find out that I do. But when I truly and finally make a commitment, I have nothing to lose, because changing my mind is no longer an option and I can relax in the freedom of my choices.

Thanks Gregg! Oh and BC!
Therese, ok, now excuse you said? Well you better just go then!
I got up and got mine done this morning. DH gawked through the yoga poses. LOL
I was really hoping to see a drop on the scale again today. No such luck.

Just out of curiosity which plans or carb limits do you follow?
I'm going for approx 60 grams or less after subtracting the fiber. Plenty of fats. More like protein power.

Mick, I may be where I need to be. At least that is the excuse I always give myself. I am a BIG GIRL! I am 5'8" and BIG SHOULDERS and size 9 1/2 feet. There is no way I am ever going to be tiny! I currently wear a size 10 in most makes and models. For me, I think the "mental" state of getting into the 150's is what I want. BUT I have been working out hardcore since 01/01/04 and the weight has stayed where it is. BUT I know I am smaller, DR commented on how I lost more weight when she saw me last. I said, NO, you better check the chart, I am 1 pound up! She was in shock.

Let's put it this way, if I stay this size the rest of my life, it is certainly NOT the end of the world. BUT I definately have 10 pounds of GUT I could lose. Some of it is loose skin, from being overweight and then some is my 2 babies!

Thanks for the words MICK. Let's just say, I am not KILLING myself to get the pounds off. If I was willing to do that, I am sure they would be gone. BUT, I too prefer how I feel and act when I am getting 60 to 100 carbs a day!

I LOVE THIS POST!

Thanks for digging that up Gregg!!

Mick - i have to be totally honest... I havent been counting them **hangs head in shame*

It's almost like.... i've done this for ages... i should know how to do it right.

I do eat pretty clean though.. at least i have this week.

either LC shake (5g max) or eggs with cheese (3-5g)
coffee - a lot (guess i need to restart calc'ing those carbs, mostly H&H)

lunch - sandwich (LC wrap 5g) turkey&swiss, or roast beef&swiss (guessing 10g total) or a large salad

dinner - meat and more veggies and or a salad.

we do tend to eat out A LOT (no one likes to eat at home, and if i cook, they rarely eat -- dang kids are so spoiled ) but i can (usually) control my portions - and bring half home.

for dessert, i've quit eating the LC ice cream... hard to stop at halfacup
and i've started having ricotta cheese, nuked with a dash of cinnamon and sweetener.

btw -- we did just get back from the fitness center, where i did 45 min cardio. It's a step in the right direction (oh, 520 cal burn too, if the machine was correct.)

oh -- and i guess my "plan" would be modified Atkins

Way to go Therese!!!!!!!!!! You made it to the fitness center!!!!!
I didn't count for maintence at all. I am now because I need to lose. I did count under 80 the first time losing.
I cant stop at 1/2 cup of icecream or even 2!!!!!!
Your meals look good too me!
I totally hear you on pickey kids!!!!!!! It makes me so crabby sometimes.
Today was a really good day. I finally got over the fact that my mid back hair was hacked to my shoulder blades. I still don't like it but I'm not upset any more.
I just feel really positive about everything.

Back up 1 lb. Not enough water yesterday. It really feels like my sides are firming up again. Exercise is helping!
