It sounds as though you tolerate the sugar alcohols okay, and I assume your at your goal weight. So, it wouldn't seem that the bars interfer with your weight control program.

Still, many of the LC bars have transfats (look for the words like "hydrogenated" in the ingredients. Transfats are bad even in tiny amounts. In fact, I saw a special on a TV news report year where they stated that there is *no* safe limit for transfats.

So, check the labels carefully and choose only those that state they have no transfats, or with a "clean" ingredient list.

And, yes, of course real whole food will give you better nutrition.

thanks! i'm on my last 10 lbs and can't seem to shed the final 10, so i thought maybe cutting out sugar alcohols might push me over to my goal.

Angie,
The bars are definitely a YMMV type thing. Some people handle them better than others.

I understand about the fight between you and the last ten. They seem to think that since they were the first in, they are entitled to stay. You might want to consider joining those of us that are in the tracker thread and carefully monitor your intake. I can assure you I would never have been successful getting rid of my last ten without paying special attention to all that I was eating.

Angie, it's in this forum (Veterans and Maintenance)--look for "May Tracking" Of course, in a few days we'll start a new thread for June. Jump on in, the folks there have recently welcomed me, too

As far as the bars, I think it might be a worthwhile experiement to track with us, and perhaps trying to eliminate the bars for a trial period to see what might happen. That might just be the jog your system needs, or you might see other patterns that would be helpful in conquering the last 10. You've done great, I'd love to see you get where you want to go.
