Question low carb syrup

anyone know of a good low carb syrup for waffles and pancakes. Currently i am using the s/f Davinci brand but it is getting a bit too expensive for me now. I believe I pay $7.50 for a 25.4 oz bottle from Netrition. I am very sensitive to sugar alcohols and this one doesn't have any, just sucralose in it. Any ideas for the best bargain without sacrificing taste?

If you're sensitive to sugar alcohols but Splenda works for you - my best suggestion is to buy a bottle of Mapleine - it's an extract and I've seen it in just about every supermarket I've ever been in. Look with the other extracts.

Then just follow the directions using liquid or granulated Splenda in place of sugar.

If you want it thicker, use some guar or xanthan gum or some Thicken Thin Not/Starch in it - I use the latter because I find it blends more easily, and it only takes 1/2 tsp. of TTN/S to thicken 1/2 cup liquid.

None of the others I've tried WITHOUT sugar alcohols cut it for me.

I am not very sensitive to sugar alcohols IN SMALL AMOUNTS - so I love the Joseph's SF Maple syrup, it's thick and very tasty, but it IS made with maltitol so that may not work for you at all.

HTH!

Great idea, Char.

Yeah, all the regular sugar free syrups I've seen have SA in them :(

Either Char's idea or the DaVinci is probably it.

'Course there are other ways of treating pancakes than syrup. You can smear them with some sweetened sour cream and some smushed berries ... or brush them with melted butter and sprinkle on some splenda and cinnamon ... or ...

.... think outside the box and you'll come up with more ideas, I'll bet.

I've used Smucker's Sugar Free Syrup, which I really like. Down side for some folks..it's made with nutra-sweet.

Hi - I have seen Atkins syrup in my nearby Safeway and it is placed in the specialty foods section. I have not tried it. The idea of Splenda and mapleine is good. I have used mapleine for years with sugar. Has anyone tried your fruits, whether fresh or frozen and puree them in your processor?? Blueberry or Blackberry sound good to me and if you want it sweeter, put in some Splenda.

I LOVE smuckers sugar free. I don't eat pancakes but occassionally, so its well worth the 'splurge' to have smuckers when I do have them.

I tried it last year. It is thin and watery tasting. And, the bottle is half the size of most other LC syrups, which makes it pretty costly. Not a good product, not a good value, IMO.
