Welcom, hila.

If you're talking about the "pourable" kind, according to Splenda, one cup weighs about 100 gms and there are 24 gms of carbohydrate in a cup of pourable splenda.

HTH.

I thought you were greeting my cat who is named Splenda. I was thinking maybe she has a secret internet life while I sleep. She is a night owl.

This is surprisingly complicated!

There are now 4 different formulations of Splenda that I know of:

- Splenda liquid
- Splenda in single serving packets
- Splenda granular (or pourable, sold in boxes or bags)
- Splenda for Baking (a combo of dry splenda and real sugar - so avoid it)

0 g carb - liquid Splenda, any amount
0.9 g carb - 1 packet of Splenda
24.0 g carb - 1 cup of Splenda granular

Splenda granular weighs almost nothing - it's really fluffy, so 100 g. is quite a lot - about 5 to 6.5 cups* when I weighed and measured it. That makes it about 120 to 156 g. carb per 100 g. Splenda granular.

*The fact that Splenda is so fluffy and compressible makes it very hard to get an accurate volume per weight. I got two different amounts by volume when I measured 100 g. of the Splenda from two different packages I happen to have in my cupboard.

Perhaps you could write to Splenda customer service - they should be able to give you an accurate value. I've written to them a few times with questions. This is the address I have for Splenda customer service: splenda@mccus.jnj.com

Just to be clear, I didn't weigh it.

I just went by Splenda's numbers on a box I have. According to Splenda, a teaspoonful of pourable (granular) of weighs .5 gms. There are three teaspoons in a tablespoon and 16 tablespoons in a cup. That would be 48 teaspoons per cup. 48 x .5 equals 24 gms of weight per cup.

Doh! Did I ever mention that I don't speak numbers? *sigh* :o Even by their calculations, 100 gms of pourable splenda would be 4 cups and more like a 100 gms of carbs. (Sorry, hila!)

And Teel, even apart from my complete ineptitude with numbers, you're quite right about weighing the stuff. I had exactly a cup left in that box and when I weighed it, it was short of 20 gms - not 24.

Just out of curiosity, hila, what kind of recipe calls for 100 gms of Splenda?
