Question Nature's Flavors

Trina mentioned these in another thread and after perusing their site, I'm thinking about ordering some of their flavors. I've only used DaVinci syrups and I am wondering how these compare in quality. All opinions welcome!

Yes, Trina - I too am interested in your opinion of the two comparisons. DH and I enjoy DV syrups - Nature's Flavors look much more reasonable priced. What do you think?
Anybody else tried both? Would love to hear from you.

I've tried both. I have a plethora of DaVinci syrups. I found the Nature's Flavors a couple years back, thought their prices looked GREAT, so I ordered half a dozen bottles of various flavors.

Each and every one went down the drain. They just had a nasty aftertaste that I couldn't tolerate.

More recently, I tried to order some flavoring extracts from them. After 3 weeks, they still hadn't shipped them, although I emailed twice with no response. Finally I emailed them to cancel the order - well, hmmm, they wrote back to say they had "just shipped" - in the meanwhile I had read on another board that someone else had purchased some and thought they were horrid, so I refused the shipment when it arrived, which I notified them in advance I would be doing.

Instead of just crediting my credit card, as I asked them to do, they sent me a company check...not sure how THAT was more efficient but anyway I did get my money back.

I don't plan on dealing with them again though!

Just my two cents....

EEEK!!
Well, there you have it, folks. I checked out their site in search of something to use for holiday baking, and thought that their stuff looked good. I trust Char's opinion on this; like I said, she's the syrup maven.
Generally, I order from Netrition, 'cause they charge just 4.95 per order no matter how large, and I have always gotten good service and fast delivery.
I guess I didn't make it really clear in my other post that I had never ordered from Nature's Flavors before, so if I caused anyone trouble, I apologize. :(

And I don't necessarily mean to totally badmouth them either, maybe they've made improvements - but the "flavor extracts incident" was quite recent, so I'm just not willing to give them another chance.

Another source of syrups that are tasty is hawaiianshavedice.com - and they are a little less expensive. I liked their flavors, no aftertaste - but I still PREFER DaVinci. I use a few of the Torani flavors occasionally too and I think they are a very close second to DV.

JMHO!

Char

Edit: hmmmm - just checked out the Hawaiian site and it seems they no longer have any sugarfree flavors...wonder why???

I think the problem with Nature's Flavors is that they bottle in plastic. It tastes like it.

I bet that's what you were tasting, too, Char.

Yeah, that's what I thought initially too, Maggie, but then I bought some of the Hawaiian Shaved Ice syrups when they offered sugarfree (Splenda) and they were also in plastic - but they didn't have that horrid aftertaste like with Nature's Flavors.

I'm sure it didn't HELP any though! YUCK!

Thank you all for your input - actually I feel relieved because I just ordered about $80 worth from DV and felt really bad when I saw Nature's Flavors prices.

Well Trina, like you I trust Char's opinion on this as she is the DaVinci queen around here. I've always ordered from Netrition, as well, and it looks like I'll just go ahead and re-order with them.

BTW, I've gotten some of my DV syrups in plastic bottles and can't say I notice anything different in the taste. I still prefer the glass bottles, though.

Thanks to all for the input!

I ditto Char's comments.

I used to buy NF when I first started low carb about 3 years ago but stopped ordering them because they just don't taste as good. And, I don't like the packaging either.

Also, they are located only 30 miles from me but I often had to wait a long time for orders as well. They didn't seem to care much.

I would stick with DaVinci or Torani. I use Torani more than DaVinci because I can buy it locally for $5 a bottle. DaVinci and Torani are comparable products.
