Question T.G.I. Friday's low-carb menu

As most of you probably know, TGI Friday's has an Atkins approved menu. Appetizers and entrees run from 10 to 12 carbs, while they also have New York cheesecake for 8 carbs a slice. Has anyone had any experience with this - how reliable is their carb count?

I've eaten there a couple of times....I don't really have any way of knowing how accurate the carb counts are. Last time we were there, DH and I shared some spinach/atichoke dip. Of course, mine without chips. I had the chicken/cheese thing and picked out the peppers. It comes with broccoli. Really basic and really good.

It's easier eating out if you'll just stick to the basics: salad w/dressing on the side, grilled meats/fish, and steamed veggies. Oh, and I'd skip the cheesecake anyway.

Cheesecake is why I'm curious, Maxibee. :-)))) The rest of the stuff I can make at home - athough it's nice not to have to think about menu from time to time. But can't make cheesecake or any other cake b/c I simply cannot control the intake and end up eating the whole batch instead just a slice. :-)))

Dahlia,

What I would do is order a plain salad (and I have been known to bring my own dressing . . . I carry a BIG purse) and a steak with a side of steamed veggies. Then order the cheesecake for dessert. You have kept your carb count low with the plain salad, meat, veggies, so splurge on the cheesecake!

I don't know the reliablility of the carb counts but I have eaten at Fridays. The LC cheesecake is very good and a generous portion. They also have a 1 carb marg (margarita) which is good for a once-in-a-while treat.

I eat at Friday's all of the time (at least once a week). I usually stick to their Atkins Buffalo Grilled Chicken Salad. 3/4 cups of salad, chicken and jalpeno ranch dressing.

I have their lc cheesecake every once in awhile. I like it, but save it as an occaisional treat. :fork:

Cracker Barrel has low carb menu's to. We eat there alot when we are traveling because they are always right at the interstate exits. They have a great steak and salad there along with their other items. The only thing i have found wrong with their low carb meals is that they will bring you biscuits or corn bread with the meal. I just tell them to leave them back in the kitchen. I don't understand why they bring bread with their great low carb meals but they do. STRANGE ISN'T IT?
Most places do now offer low carb meals. which is great for us low carbers.

I was thinking about going to T G I fridays next tuesday.. haven't tried them at all, and was fascinated with the 3 course low carb dinners, but now that I've read the comments, I don't know if I want to go now or not! It sounds just like any other food you get at any other restaurant, and lc cheese cake is great... IF you're into that, but do they offer any other low carb desserts that are truly low carb???
