Default Hermesetas

Has anyone see this? I've seen it before as my mum used it as a sweetener but today I saw it for the first time in liquid format in Boots so I bought a bottle. And it was under ?1. Could I use this in recipies that call for liquid Splenda?

Well, it says it is heat resistent making it *ideal* for cooking and baking. I was unable to find a carb count on it. It is made from chicory root and is as sweet as sugar with only 10% of the calories sugar has. I would think that possibly mixed with some splenda or steviaplus, it might do ok; I'd still want to know the carb count though.

addendum:
Ahhhh....I just found the nutritionals...the hermesetas *gold* has over 34 carbs per tablet...to many for me
The *original* formula lists 0 carbs. You'll find that info on this site:

As usual Shelley, you are my most personal fabulous advisor!

I am not sure which one I bought, it doesn't have "Gold" written anywhere. I am very wary though of making a mistake with something like this, I might take a photo and post it if you think that would help.

Al,
Does it list the nutritionals on the box/bottle? Remember you will subtract the fiber from the total carbs listed to get your net carb count. However, since it has 10% the calories sugar has, I would be a little leary of using it unless the one you purchased specifically says NO carbs. In other words, I have to have it *in writing* that the product I use is what it says it is.
The web site I mentioned above is in the UK I believe. You might want to peruse that site and possibly glean some more info on it
HTH

Wellll, there are no nutritional value on the box or bottle at all! I am not risking this I might get in touch with them first.

I am so jealous of you lot out in the states, you have so much more choice of stuff.

Al,
I think that is a good idea to email or write the makers of your product. Hopefully they will answer quickly and you will know. It's just better in the long run to know what you're dealing with. Heaven help us...there are enough *hidden* carbs out in the world to deal with as it is
Good luck!

According to their web site, the liquid is a combination of cyclamate and sodium saccharin with 0 carbs and 0 calories.

Hmmm... the nutritionals for the gold tablets are listed in milligrams not grams per tablet. It's been ages since I've had math classes and even then I wasn't the sharpest but milligrams are a fraction of grams so wouldn't that make the tablet less than a gram of carbohydrate? Am I remembering it right? I can't see how, given the ingredients, that those tabs can be over 34 carbs per tablet.

Boy...that website is sorta confusing. After going back and looking again, I think you are right, Esther. I thought that looked weird the other day, and I guess I didn't read down far enough on the page. Also, depends on what country you click on; I looked at UK since that's where Al lives. I still don't have time today to read more on it, but hopefully can get to it soon.

Al...sorry about that.

I know what you mean, Shelley, I had to go back and look at it three or four times before it clicked. I was looking at the UK one, too.

Al, I love Boots! I have one bottle of their violet bath foam left from our trip to London two years ago which I've been nursing along. I envy the section of bath stuff over there, esp. the scents.
