Defrost it.....then throw it in a gallon ziploc bag with seasonings of choice and let it sit overnight. Throw in crockpot and yummmmmmmmmmm it will fall apart!!!

Here's the seasonings I use for a whole chicken:
4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. white pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. black pepper

It was posted here on this site and is wonderful!

I really don't think dropping a whole frozen chicken in a slow cooker would work. I think there's a very good chance, at the low temperatures of a slow cooker, that you may grow something very unpleasant in the middle of the chicken before it has a chance to cook all the way.

I've put frozen boneless skinless breasts in the crockpot, but I don't think it would be safe to do a whole bird from frozen - the outside would warm up far faster than the inside would defrost, setting up great conditions for bacteria to grow. I think defrosting it first would be a much safer proposition!

I don't know about over there, but here, the whole chicken also comes with the giblets and neck stuck inside the body cavity, so I'd have to defrost it first anyway just to get that stuff OUT before cooking! LOL!

There have been many times when I've gotten a whole chicken out of the freezer and dropped it into a pot of seasoned water and let it boil for about 45 minutes. Then take the chicken out of the pot (very carefully) and using a pare of kitchen shears, cut the chicken in half down though the breastbone and then the backbone. You can then remove the giblets (which will still be partially frozen and bloody, really gross). Then put the two halves of the chicken back in the pot and cook for another 45 minutes or so.

I then take the chicken out of pot and put it in a bowl in the frig to cool; I open a couple of bags of frozen vegetables and drop them in the chicken broth along with about 1-1/2 servings of Dreamfield spaghetti that have been broken into fairly small pieces . When the vegetables and the pasta are done, turn the fire off under the pot and pick the cooled chicken off the bone and add it back to the pot.

You can go from frozen chicken to some really good chicken soup in 1-1/2 hours. Of course you don't have to make soup, that just happens to be a favorite of mine. I will eat on that pot of soup for several days and it's very satisfying.

It works that way, but I really don't think I would try it with a slow cooker.

Dreamfields pasta can be found at a lot of supermarkets these days, it's in a black box with red on it. If you can't find it locally, you can order it through Netrition and other online sources.

It's made with a "special processed" type of flour that isn't absorbed by the body, at least not by a lot of bodies! YMMV. It works well for my DH and me, IF we eat it in the suggested serving sizes. Other people experience gastric distress or bloating from it.

The best thing about it is that it TASTES just like ANY regular pasta!

I am only responding to this message because I am such a huge fanatic about dreamfields pasta! I served it for dinner one night and no one could tell any difference! It's fantastic! Unfortunately, a lot of stores that sell it right now are looking to discontinue it! I was so mad when both grocers around me did that... But, by going to the website I found that you can order it straight from there so that's what I'll be doing once I'm able to eat it again Also, I don't know if anyone has wondered about the "controlled carbs" that they talk about on the nutrition side of the box, but I did. I wanted to know what was meant by controlled carbs, and how they were so sure they weren't counted? So, I called the number on the side of the box, and the woman I spoke with was great. She told me that the "controlled carbs" were a special fiber blend, that made them move directly to the colon without stopping in the hips, stomach, etc and without acting as a laxative. The reason they don't put this on the box, is because the FDA will only let them put how the nutrients enter the body, not how they stay or leave it. The only way they could talk about how it leaves the body is if there is even a small chance they could act as a laxative. But since there's not, no such luck. Fine by me though, they are amazing and being able to bring my favorite foods back in to my WOL without any adverse effects was the happiest day of my life Just thought I'd post this just in case anyone else wondered!

Well I have the chicken in the crock pot with the recommended seasoning, plus a glass of water! What should I do with the bits that I took out from inside?

Sarah,

If Dreamfields pasta is a good fit for your way of eating, that's great!

It's not a good fit for everyone. For those of us who are primarily seeking control of blood glucose levels, though, I urge testing. For me, this turned out to be "Pipedream" pasta. My BGL's after a modest portion were about what I'd expect if I'd eaten any regular (high carb) pasta. Some of us are readily able to digest those "undigestible" carbs. I don't react this way to regular fiber which has no noticable effect on my BGL's.

Just a heads up for anyone interested.

I guess I am lucky as it does not effect my blood sugar at all, but everyone is different
