Smile thank you for the maggies cereal and waffle recipe!

I first started atkins 2 1/2 yrs ago wanting to lose weight for my holiday i managed to lose about 21 lb and really felt great! alot of fat had gone ! and i was able to dress in clothes that felt and looked good but .. i let the weight slide up again at first i could not gain weight! then after 6 months it started going back on... now This is my 3rd attempt to get back on track and i was giving up hope i had hit a stall for 4 weeks so depressing eating 20-24 carbs a week and exercising....
Then I found this website and found the recipe for Maggies Breakfast Cereal... I knew I needed more fibre in my diet so i went out and bought the ingredients and wow i have eaten it every day since for breakfast or made it into the waffle recipe for lunch or breakfast and yesssss i have lost 3lb in 10 days..... I needed this boost, I had even had my thyroid checked just in case that was the cause but thank you al for saving me.... I am also trying the green tea anything to boost the metabolism ! I must say, my doc was not too helpful, just told me i wasnt fat enough to get any pills, my BM! is 28 and it needs to be 30 she said for her to give me help......sooooooooooooo
at leastl i have now lost 8lb in 7 weeks i know its not much but doc said "this is what happens when you get older, you have to accept a slow loss........
my goal is to lose 1 more stone before i go onl holiday to egypt in march.... wish me luck
and thank you again !!
you are all so great...

OK so maybe this will push me to finally get out to sunflower market and get these ingredients. I have heard so many good things about this cereal yet I have not made it yet. I need more fiber as well.

Rhonda, if you go to the front page of the site, you'll find a search engine for both recipes and articles. If you plug in maggie, it will take you to this link:

Noel, I hope you enjoy it. You don't have to make such a big batch as is in the recipe, but make sure that the ingredients are equal by weight, not volume. I love having a containter of this in the fridge. It's the fastest breakfast food I know of. Just scoop it into a bowl while the kettle's on and add a dash of salt, the sweetener of your choice and whatever else strikes your fancy on a given day. Then add the boiling water as you stir, drizzle on some heavy cream and eat.

Lately I've been using the golden flax meal, which is lighter in color and makes it even more like oatmeal. A favorite food of mine in a previous existence.

Linnet, linseed is the same thing as flax seed. Different names for the same thing.
Would you share your waffle recipe?

Kerry, I have not made waffles with it since I don't have a waffle iron at the moment, but I imagine if you beat up an egg, with some liquid (water, carb countdown, davinci, whatever), sweetener if needed, a pinch of salt & a bit of baking powder, then added enough cereal to make a nice thick batter, that might do it. hmmm- I think you might need some kind of shortening, too, I seem to recall from the olden days. A bit of extra virgin olive oil, VCO or melted butter should take care of that.

HTH.

I am not very imaginative in the kitchen. The additions make perfect sense, I was thinking there was a recipe already posted and wasnt going to have to think. I should visit you Maggie or Char or Barbara or Henry... and expand my culinary horizons. Lol... thank u

Kerry, c'mon over any old time! In fact I think we should ALL get together - but it will have to be somewhere that has a bigger kitchen than MINE! LOL! We call it the "butt-bumper" around here and my DH and DSS (dear stepson) KNOW better than to set foot in there when I am in there!

Smile Re: thank you for the maggies cereal and waffle recipe!

well i took the waffle recipe from this site
it was using

1/2 cup maggies breakfast cereal
1 egg
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon or other flavouring
i added 2-3 teaspoons of olive oil which helps stop the mixture sticking to the waffle iron
,then about i/2 cup of water, so its a thick pouring consistency
i found a thinner batter made for a lighter crisper waffle

oil the waffle iron

When cooked I poured on some da vinci vanilla syrup and some cream
and a little splenda..
i reckon this whole recipe must be about 5 or 5 1/2 carbs?
or da vinci chocolate syrup or better still some sugar free maple syrup
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

perfect breakfast

It made 2 good sized waffles
but this recipe was posted here before thanks so much to that person !!
I am sorry i havent time right now to find out who it was !
have to go to work.....
