| I'm not new to low carb, but have never been able to figure out how to calculate the carb count in food that you are preparing. for example, let's just say i'm making a strawberry cheese cake. The recipe asks for 8 oz of Cream cheese (1gram of carbs per tblsp), heavy cream (0 to 1 gram per tblsp depending on which brand you buy, I play safe and always count it as 1 grm) strawberries (<fresh>on top when searving). Splenda to taste, approximately 1/2 a cup. and 2 eggs. The crust would consists of 1 cup of sunflower seeds and a bit of cinamon and splenda. now how am I suppose to figure out how many carbs is in something like this? But it isn't just for this desert, anything we cook. Thanks, |

| Use a calculator, input the carbs in each ingredient (first mulitply the carb count per serving times the number of servings you're using in your recipe), then divide by the number of servings in your recipe. Don't forget to deduct fiber from the total carbs. I hope that was helpful , and not confusing!

| For example, this is how you would figure out the carb counts in your cheesecake recipe... 8 oz cream cheese = 16 tbsp...... = 16 carbs.... fiber = 0 1/2 cup (i'm guessing) cream....... = 8 carbs .... fiber = 0 2 eggs..................................... = 2 carbs .... fiber = 0 1/2 cup splenda (24 per cup)....... = 12 carbs ... fiber = 0 1 cup sunflower seeds................ = 30 carbs .... fiber = 14 splenda for crust (? 1/4 cup)....... = 6 carbs........ fiber = 0 ------------------------------------------------------------ ..........................................74 carbs (minus) 14 fiber = 60 for whole pie Let's say you have 8 servings... 60 --- = 7.5 carbs per serving, then add extras like berries on top, etc 8 Just use this formula for everything you make. 1) Add up all the carbs used in the recipe 2) Add up all the fiber totals and then subtract from the total carbs 3) Figure out how many servings the recipe will give you 4) Divide the total net carbs by the number of servings. Hope that helps

| Thank you Marcie! That really does help! BTW it's just a sprinkle of spenda for the crust. I just found that when I didn't use any, the crust was missing something. Take care |

| I used to enter all of the ingredients in Fitday and then take the total and divide by number of servings. Major pain in the tush! I have the MasterCook program now, and I enter all the ingredients and the number of servings and it does the rest. This is a lot easier since I can take my laptop into the kitchen and pull up a recipe and just read it off the computer as I go.

| I use the fitday and divide by servings method. Then, if it's something I'll make again, I enter it as a custom food. I haven't looked recently, but I don't think there's an equivalent to MasterCook for the Mac OS.
