Default shirataki noodles

Anybody have any experience with shirataki noodles. They were featured on the morning news here today. They sound interesting. Apparently they have almost no carbs.

I absolutely love them, check out this thread where I show what I do with them, including photos to help you along!
http://www.lowcarbeating.com/bb/show...light=konnyaku

I love to use them as a replacement for noodles, in soup or in chow mein or stir fries. I also use them to make spaghetti bolognese, why, I have even used them to make a lovely and very filling noodle pudding!

Thanks Rob!

Here's a pic of my "spaghetti" made with the konjac noodles...

The texture of these noodles IS a little different but if you go into this with an open mind, you'll be greatly rewarded.

I love to use them! They have become my pasta of choice at home. Since they are packaged in fluid , they keep very well in the fridge. Had some leftover last night for dinner. DW made some meat sauce using ground up Jimmy Dean Breakfast sausage. Pretty good.

Wow! Thanks so much for the info. I went looking for these at 2 different asian markets here in town and neither one had them...maybe a specifically Japanese market. Or I think I saw that whole foods might have them. Can't wait to try them. Thanks again

Vickie- When I went to the asian market here the guy didn't know what I was talking about. So I went back and looked for it myself. These are usually kept in the big refrigerated units. I've seen them in the large and small bags. since they keep very well and store well after cooking as well, I get the big bags. Much cheaper.

cookin them is easy... It is the cleaning that gets to us. Remember to rinse well. Oh yeah rinse the bag too before you put it in the trash... If not you'll have every cat within 5 miles getting into your trash.

LOL!

Yeah. I rinse them over and over again until I can't detect that fishy smell they come with.

Once that's gone ... and it DOES go ... they're pretty much tasteless so they adapt to pretty much anything you have in mind.

Strange because the brand I buy, and I have never bought another, don't smell of fish, or maybe it is that I just cannot smell it!

wish i didnt live in the back woods of nomansland beacuse the one healthfoods store we have in the area the guy acts like a horses behind and if he dont have something there he has either never heard of it... or "that stuff is awful for you" so i gave up on asking him to speical order things for me.

Maby i can get my sister to hunt me down a place in Pittsburgh to get them.

I like these, too. I can't get there here; the closest place that sells them is over two hours away. But like Kim, I'm also headed to Seattle this weekend (yay!). I know that Central Market in Mill Creek has them, along with everything else in the world, but I've also bought them at Boo Han on Highway 99.

My non-dieting husband thinks they're fine, too.

I LOVE these .... they taste great with LC sauce or cheese or just a bit of butter and seasoning fried quickly (so they arn't too chewy)

Open up, rinse well, quickly fry with sauce - :jumpgreen

You won't miss the real thing if you try this!!!
