My new purchase, a food saver:
Oh, wow. What a great product! I just bought this yesterday. I spent a whole hour playing with it, saving steaks individually, salads in single-serving bags, etc. All I have to do for salad is open up a bag and I'm ready to go! No more wasted produce at the bottom of my fridge. I think the food saver is a valuable appliance that will enhance my new WOL. I just wanted to share with all of you!

My sister had one of those and loved it but when she ran out of the bags that came with it she was too cheap to spend $50 to replace them. I wish I'd have asked her to give it to me.

Here in CO, the bags are less than ten bucks for a new roll.

DW uses the freezer ziplocs and seals them with it. much cheaper. For big stuff still use the rolls though.

My DH has been wanting one of these as long as I've known him. We just got a freezer, so maybe I'll finally break down and buy one. Which brand did you get?

I recently bought one to replace my old original one, which still worked fine but took both hands to operate. This new one is hands-free, stores the roll of bag material inside and slices it off too! I just love it and we use it WAAAAAY more often than the old one, just because it's so convenient to use it. We also use a lot of the cannisters for coffee, produce we don't want squished etc.

They will also reseal many different bags - i.e., some kinds of chips, the silvery Carbquik bags, etc.

Worth its weight in gold when we do a smoker-load of ribs, brisket, pork shoulder etc.

I got the Food Saver brand. I didn't know if I could trust the one that was only $35.00. Seal A Meal I think it was called.

I have a Seal a Meal because I found it cheap at the Goodwill (brand new, too!) It works fine, but it's definitely a two-handed operation. I've only had it for about a month, so we will see how it holds up. I do think the Food Saver brand is a better one, from what I've read and heard. I do love having it!
