| Is Milled Flax seed the same as Flax Seed meal? If not how to use?

| Fran, I think so. If it's kind of a fine powder, then it will work fine with this recipe. You can grind flax seeds in a coffee mill, or electric food chopper too.

| i grind mine fresh in a little mini food processor each time i make a batch of mags cereal mix.. then i stick the rest of the flaxseed in the freezer.. i tried the flax MEAL in the stores, but it was too finely ground for my taste.. the thing i LOVE about it is the texture it gives .. |

| Milled flax seeds are the same thing as flax seed meal. Milling is the process that takes it from the seed state to a more floury state (they mill wheat to make flour).

| Barb, the french toast muffin sounds yummy! I'll have to try that. My latest invention is a chocolate raspberry cream cheese muffin! To the regular recipe I added sf raspberry syrup, sf chocolate syrum, then took a cube of cream cheese (I dunno, maybe 1/2 oz? about the size of a cheese cube) and stuck it in the center of the muffin batter. I ended up nuking it for a minute and a half - it was still too runny in the middle at a minute. I let it cool for a bit then ate it with a fork. OMG, it was good! I made this as a dessert for myself so I also whipped a tiny bit of cream with some splenda, vanilla, and cinnamon and topped it off. The cream cheese stayed soft and kinda gooey. I'm telling ya, this thing is loaded with possibilities! |

| Hi guys, I tried the Milled Flax Seed and it does work. First time used too much butter and the egg did not disolve. Second time used less butter and mixed the egg with the butter. Better still too much butter. Used 1 packet Splenda and 1 T. Amaretto SF syurp. Very good. Will keep experimenting.

| Fran, that's GREAT!!! Keep experimenting. I still have yet to find banana s/f syrup. I might have to order some directly from DaVinci. But it I can find it locally, I'd rather save on the shipping chgs. Can't wait to try a banana nut version. Has anyone found banana extract at the store? Don't know if they make it.

| Barb, I gave a link to Davinci's sugar-free syrups earlier in this thread. Here it is again and they have the banana for $7.49 per 24-oz. bottle, and it's not from the Davinsi site.

| I have the banana SFD and it's great. Actually, I find a lot of my syrups at TJ Maxx or Marshall's. The link April listed has great service. How far has this recipe evolved? Are most of you still using just the flax, egg, baking power, syrup? |

| i still use the carbsense bake mix, flax seed, bran stuff all mixed together for my cereal AND for the muffin.. to the mix i just add the egg, splenda , syrup and pumpkin pie mix... but if i WERE to do the cheese one.. i would add the garlic instead of splenda/syrup add pepperjack cheese... and prolly salt and pepper.. maybe some chipotle... or cayenne.. |

| Ah yes, Netrition!!! I ordered erythritol from them a couple of years ago and they delivered FAST!!! I'll order from them if I can't find it locally. Thanks April!!!! I have a LIST to order!!!! I'm going to mail my order, tryin' to cut down on CC orders. I did some cheesy/garlic biscuits last week and they were really good, but I didn't use any flax in them, just Atkins Bake mix, almond flour, egg, baking powder, garlic, and butter. Next time I will put in flax too to add fiber.

| I use 1/2 carbquik, 1/2 flax meal, fiberfit (a no-carb splenda sweetener), cocoa powder, vanilla and cinnamon. When it's done, I split it, top with a very thin layer of cream cheese and I have the most incredible muffin on earth
