Default Substitute for Soy Protein?

I want to make Sharron's carrot cake, but her recipe calls for soy protein...which I don't have on hand.

I do have soy powder, Designer Whey (vanilla), Rice protein and Carborite vanilla bake mix.

Can I substitute any of the above ingredients for the soy protein?

Thanks...I am craving a carrot cake something fierce!

Shelley

If it were me, I'd use the Designer Whey, because I really like that stuff!

And please share the recipe if you like it - DH loves carrot cake and I've not made him any in ages!

I second Charski's suggestion for going with Designer Whey. It's the nicest tasting protein powder, IMO.

Thanks Charski and Teelbee,

I will use the Designer if I don't hear back from Sharron.

Charski, unfortunately, I don't think I can share the recipe online since it's from Sharron's book Extreme Lo-Carb Cuisine. :( Sorry! But, I will let you know how it turns out!

Kim,

I get the Designer Whey at Trader Joe's, but I have seen it in health food stores. It's a protein shake mix, they have it in different flavors...pretty good tasting. I think I even saw it in Von's grocery store, which is just a regular grocery store. I've used it to make Maggie's flax cereal and in the 3 minute cake too.

Char....
don't know how I missed this, but....if you will drop Sharron an email she will most likely share her recipe with you. She is very generous and kind to share her recipes.
I have made her carrot cake, and it is excellent!

happy baking

Kim,

Yes, use the same amount of Designer Whey. It turned out good using the same proportions for me.

Sharron emailed me and said that using Soy Powder would probably work in place of the Soy Protein using the same proportions. She gave me a link for conversions:

Char,
I made her carrot cake as per her recipe...no substitutes. I had everything for it, so no problemo.
