| I would like to make a dip for strawberries that is mostly low carb. I was thinking soft cream cheese, but is there anything I could add to it? I never tried any kind of dip, so any ideas will be appreciated. It will be my turn for snack day at work and I want to bring something fairly low carb, you know, set a good example Mostly everyone brings donuts or cookies or bagels. Any other ideas for snacks that others who don't low carb will also like?

| No clue on the strawberry dip, but as for things that non-lowcarbers like, my biscotti are always a big hit in the breakroom at work. ... and I work with a serious bunch of carboholics.

| Suz, I found this online: one pacakge of vanilla instant pudding mix (can you find that in sugar free?) 2 c heavy cream 1 c milk 1 tsp almond extract add all ingredients in large bowl, beat at low speed until blended then at high speed until "soft-peaks" form (8-10 minutes) Serve cold with the berries also: 1 (8 oz) pgk of cream cheese 1 can (14 oz) condensed milk - NOT sweetened sweetener to taste 1 tsp lemon juice blend all - cover chill for 3+ hours, serve... and lastly: I use sour cream as a base for lots of dips - add enough Splenda and any flavored extracts (the almond extract idea above is a good one) and there you go... ------ other idea for snacks that non-low-carbers will like... at receptions I serve things like: - salami and cream cheese roll-ups (toothpick holds it in place) and add a little slice of cornichon or tiny dill pickle in each - yum! - variety of cheeses (cut into bite sizes - with walnuts or pecans or dried apricots on the travy instead of crackers) - crudite tray: red peppers, cucumbers, zucchini (yes!), cauliflower, broccoli, green (string) beans, and a sour cream based dip - or make your own ranch or other packaged dried spice mix with sour cream - chicken wings with blue cheese dressing/dip - turkey, provolone, and sun dried tomato roll-ups... Good luck!! |

| A nice, sweet, low-carb dip: Whip up some heavy cream. Gently fold in softened cream cheese, a little vanilla and a little splenda. Melt some LC chocolate chips (May I suggest Maine Cottage Foods? They're fab!) Dip. LC Vanilla yogurt Sour cream and cream cheese dip

| Sour cream. It may sound strange but it is heavenly dip for strawberries. You can sweetened the sour cream with Splenda or a complimentary DaVinci Syrup flavor, but it isn't necessary. Especially, if you provide other dip choices. Triple Treat Double Dip: First, dip the strawberry in sour cream, then dip the tip into a tasty "dry" dip for a triple treat. Consider providing several small dishes of tasties for the second dip, such as: finely chopped nuts finely chopped very dark chocolate finely chopped milk chocolate (for the Non-LCers) pourable Splenda colored* erythriol or xylitol colored sugars (for the Non-LCers) cinnamon sugar (for the Non-LCers) cake sprinkles (for the Non-LCers) I think finely chopped fresh mint would be nice, but I have not tried it. *You can easily tint crystaline sweetners like erythritol and xylitol by adding a few drops of food coloring and stirring well.

| My favorite used to be to dip the berry in sour cream, then roll in brown sugar. You do these one at a time as you eat them, otherwise the brown sugar dissolves and looks nasty! I think I'll try this with some of the brown Diabetisweet soon. Also, a good general purpose dip/frosting is soften some cream cheese, beat until fluffy, then pour in heavy cream until you get the consistency you want. Add sweeteners or flavors as you like - I prefer good old vanilla extract and liquid Splenda. It's really good and holds up well. You could add sweetener and cocoa powder to it to make a chocolate version, which is ALWAYS good with strawberries! Or, add a tablespoon or two of Grand Marnier, or SF orange syrup. Char

| Sour cream sweetened with DaVinci's white chocolate syrup. It's good all by itself, but would be fabulous with strawberries. Then dip into chopped nuts or unsweetened finely grated coconut. Gotta go buy some fresh berries! |

| Used to love the sour cream and brown sugar combo. Let me know if you find a good substitute.

| Some really good balsamic vinegar. I'm serious; try it sometime. Toss berries in it and sprinkle with some cracked black pepper. I make a salad that is spinach leaves, grilled chicken, red onions and sliced strawberries. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil and good balsamic. It's wonderful.

| Oh My Goodness!!! So many great ideas, I can't wait to try them! Wow! And these ideas are so creative and appeals to so many tastes... I am so glad I asked this question, snack day will never be boring! BTW, somebody at work told me about a certain kind of strawberry that they only sell at farmer's markets. She had a name for it but it was three numbers, like 469, I don't know, I was just so interested in how she described these strawberries, that I forgot the name of it. She said they tasted "meaty"- but we figured that what she meant was more dense, less juicy, more flavor... Anybody know what I am talking about?
