Goat

I just ate a delicious curried goat stew from a Jamacian lunch truck. Does anybody know what goats eat on american farms? I'm curious because, I want to eat more grass fed meat, but I find it just ain't that practical or easy to locate. Whole Foods has "organic" meat, not grass fed. Some of my local farm markets (NYC) will have frozen grass fed stuff, but it's usually ground beef which, for some reason, I tend to use very little of.

Goat? Did you say goat?

If so, here's an article about goat meat that may help.

I'm sorry. I'm simply repulsed at the thought of eating goat meat.

Finding grass-fed beef or other meats is just not easy. I'd suggest calling specialty butchers in your area. If they don't stock it, they may be willing to special order it.

Some friends of mine here in California ~drive~ to Colorado to get grass-fed beef. I guess every few months they stock a couple of coolers with dry ice and and haul a load home. Must be good stuff, LOL!

There are a growing number of grass-fed beef producers who ship frozen, such as

Goat is big here in Texas. In fact, our town has an annual Goat CookOff every Labor Day weekend, on the Saturday.

Goats are kept in pastures, they eat whatever they can get their mouths on. I imagine they get supplemental feed, too. Especially during drought.

I detest goat meat. It has a gamey taste, and is greasy. Give me beef or pork or chicken any day.

A nice goat curry isn't bad... I can understand if you don't like the texture or taste, but I never understood how you could eat a pig or a cow, but have problems eating other animals...

I ate spit-roasted baby goat in Mexico many years ago, and thought it was wonderful.

Lunch will be leftover chile lime hot wings, a few celery stix, and since it's my boss's b'day I made Atkins lemon poppyseed muffin mix in a 9" square pan, and we'll have strawberries sweetened with DV SF strawberry syrup and whipped cream. Mmmm, can't wait!

Either hamburgers or 1/2 a sandwich. I've been trying to up my carbs a bit and find that 1 slice of light bread is a great change of pace.
