    Default Ziplock Omelet

I received this COOL idea in an email today, and just wanted to share. I am going to try this out tonight for my dinner!!!

    ZIPLOC OMELET

(This works great! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet!)

Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, salsa, etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake.

Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

Imagine having these ready the night before, and putting the bag in boiling water while you get ready. And in 13 minutes, you got a nice omelet for a quick breakfast!

tomatoes, ham, green onions, cheddar cheese and mushrooms in this one!
    MMMMMMMM . . .MMMMMMM good!!!

What a great idea! Just pop it in the water and forget it until your timer goes off. Might have this for supper tonight. I just got 4 dozen fresh eggs this morning. Mmmm.

I've read this on another LC forum and everybody who tried it thought it was great. One person mentioned doing this while camping and it worked out wonderfully! No eggy pan to wash either and everyone's breakfast done at the same time.

All right, I tried this today. I let the water boil while I was in the shower and put the bag in and let it cook while I was getting ready. Of course, THIS is the morning that Dan decides to get up early and watch my morning routine, and he thought I was absolutely NUTS. But it worked so well! I was very pleased with the results. I think I'm going to make up a few to store in the fridge for breakfasts this week!

I've tried this before. Thanks, but I'd just as soon make my omelet the old way. I wasn't overwhelmed with the results. By the time I got water boiling, I could have cooked enough for DH and I the regular way.
