Default A question about bake mixes

I've been looking through the recipes on Linda's Low Carb site and she mentions Carbquik in some of her recipes.

How is that different from MiniCarb bake mix or Atkins bake mix?

I don't really care for the Atkins, but I have some boxes of Minicarb that I bought before our Walmart stopped carrying them. Was wondering if I could just substitute what I have?

If not, where do you buy Carbquik? I have Walmart, Safeway and Albertson's to shop at.

    Thanks!

Carbquik is a different and, in my opinion, a better product than the Atkins bake mix. Here is a link to Netrition where you can order it.

I have not seen it at any regular grocery store. It is quite similar to Bisquik and I have found that you can convert Bisquik recipes to Carbquik with good result.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to get a netrition order together soon. (I am going to try it with the MiniCarb bake mix I already have, though... since it's here. )

I like the results I get with Carbquik - it makes LC baked goods much fluffier than anything else I've tried. Alas, it gives me prounced gas, so I use it very sparingly. That said, I've not read of anyone else have this adverse reaction to Carbquik.

Personally, I've never felt comfortable with any of them. I know there are folks that swear by them, but not I.

I use a combo of ground almonds, soy protein and vital wheat gluten. Works for me in most circumstances
