I know this is probably a dumb question, but since I haven't tried to do this, I'm going to ask it anyway! ![]() Can you freeze tomatoes? I don't do any canning, so I was wondering if they did ok freezing or if they were "icky" when thawed out. I was thinking about cutting them into bite size pieces, etc. first. Anyone tried this?

You can put whole tomatoes in the freezer, then throw one or two in your pot of soup. They'll thaw as they cook, and the skins will come off and you just throw the skin away. I don't think frozen tomatoes to be useful for anything other than stews & sauces, though.

I may try that. I've had several people give me tomatoes lately and they're all ripe and I can't eat that many at one time.

How about running them through your blender or food processor, put the sauce in containers or even freezer bags, and freeze. Then just thaw and cook for sauce.
