Default Flax meal as breadcrumbs

Just wanted to share this with everyone...

Made a salmon recipe tonight that called for mixing breadcrumbs with some dry dip mix (Tastefully Simple Howlin' Horseradish, in case you were wondering). Anyway, I tried using the flaxmeal in place of the breadcrumbs, and it worked GREAT!

Am wondering if it would work with other things... I'm thinking chicken, etc.

Just wanted to share in case anyone else wanted to experiment.

It does! For many things I use it mixed with grated cheese.

(wish I could find that horseradish thingy around here.)

Like Parmesan in a can? I'm going to have to try that!

As for the horseradish dip mix, they "discontinued" it last season (Tastefully Simple is a direct marketing company), but I suspect they'll bring it back because it was really popular. I'll try to remember to post if they do bring it back.

Wanted to add...

Tonight I made "breaded" porkchops with Maggie's Cereal. They were fantastic! Just dipped them in egg, then the cereal, added a little salt & pepper and fried them in butter. Yummy!

This stuff is so versatile!

I've been using Mag's cereal as a breading base on oven fried chicken and pork chops for a couple of years to, Mada. It is very tasty! I add a little garlic powder and lawry's season salt when I do *oven fried* chicken tenders...oye!

Also use the cereal as a starting point for my one min muffin, pumpkin sour cream pecan breakfast bread and my new *addiction*, a lemon-blueberry muffin! Ahhh...the LC life is good...and so is the food!!! LOL!

LOL! I use it in various ways myself. Especially in summer. I'm not much for hot cereal in the warm weather.

Flaxmeal worked nicely in my meatloaf tonight (and DH didn't even notice that it tasted slightly different!). DS INHALED it. Must be good. (I added 1/2 c. flaxmeal to a 2 lb. meatloaf).
