Heather,
Can you get almond milk? or Calorie countdown(used to be carb countdown)?
I use the Genisoy SPI powder(soy protein isolate), about 10 oz of almond milk, a Tbsp of cocoa powder, liq splenda, about 5 ice cubes, and a splash of DVSF syrup...cookie dough, chocolate, butter toffee...something that goes good with cocoa...process it up in the blender and YUM_O!

You could certainly use cream, but it will be a pretty calorie and fat dense shake. I might try 3 oz cream with 3 oz water, then add in your flavorings and protein powder and some ice cubes.

Yesterday, I made a protein shake with the calorie/carb countdown, and put in 4 frozen strawberries and some ice cubes and stby dvsf syrup. I guess it was good...couldn't really taste it due to my wonky tastebuds from a URI...grrrrrr. It looked like a yummy stby shake though!

for a smoothie, I use about 4 frozen peach slices, 4 or 5 frozen strawberries, and 3 T LC/SF yogurt and a dash of coconut or stby sfdv syrup and whiz it in my magic bullet. Really would be more of an OWL item, and I don't make them everyday, as much as I would like to!

good luck!
hth

My all time favorite shake is 1/4 c pumpkin, 2 oz cream cheese, splenda, pumpkin pie spice, ice and water. It tastes like pumpkin cheesecake. If I'm low on protein that day I'll add a scoop of vanilla protein powder and omit the splenda.

I use either almond milk or Calorie Countdown milk, a sccop or 2 of whey protein powder, and if I need more flavor, DaVinci's sf syrup, or Walden Farms sf syrup. A little ice, perhaps a dash of cream, and breakfast is ready.

The pumpkin would make a nice, thick shake, too. Yummy. I've even put a bit of peanut butter in my chocolate shake.

Just be aware of your carb counts with whatever you add.

Pumpkin cheesecake....yummy!
-
The other day I froze a can of peaches (sweetened with Splenda found at Wal-mart) in Tupperware and then blended it with vanilla soy milk. What a treat!! I did 2 cups of Vanilla soymilk per can of peaches. I was nervous because I'm not a big fan of peach drinks but can't believe how well it tasted and worked out. Worth the risk I felt because it wasn't to bad in calories and carbs.

hhhmmm, soy milk. I tried some soy milk and DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL, but with something blended up in there, maybe so! I cannot get any almond milk or calorie/carb countdown. But I can get soy, and I'll look for the yogurt. Great ideas everyone! THANKS!!

well, i went out and got myself a magic bullet blender thing tonight and gave it a whirl. even on my first attempts, this stuff was good! very easy to make, and i noticed with a touch of protien powder in them, they were very filling.

i also got a container of SF yogurt and several types of frozen fruit to add in for future fruit smoothie experiments. i can already tell these are going to be quite popular at our house. maybe this is old news to most of y'all, but i was delighted!

next time i shop, i'm getting some of that pumpkin!

I've had my *bullet* for quite some time...maybe nearly 3 years...anyway, I am nearing the point of needing another one!
I make my whipped cauli faux-tatoes in it as well.

What I do in the summer for the smoothies, right as I sit down to dinner, I put my 1/4 cup of yogurt in the freezer and get my fruit OUT of the freezer an put in the small bullet cup; add my sweetners and let it set at room temp while we eat dinner. Then after I tidy up the kitchen, I get my yogurt out of the freezer, add it to the slightly defrosted fruit and whirl it up! It's really almost like soft-serve, fruity, ice cream! The thing is, the fruit carbs can add up really fast, so, well, you know...
The strawberry/peach is probably our favorite. YUM-O!

i'll have to try freezing the yogurt. but i'm totally digging this whole smoothie thing. i'm going to start measuring stuff out and counting up the carbs and cals soon, though. i can seem myself possibly getting carried away with it.

I found a lot of inspiration with smoothies with the smoothie cookbook from Dana Carpender. I happened to order mine from Amazon. I've only tried a few, because I'm using a blender. I'll have to get one of those bullet things. I also need an immersion blender. Good luck!

Dixie,
my stby-peach smoothie has 112 calories and 13 net carbs. Not exactly an everyday endulgence. sigh. But if one is in the later stages of OWL or maintenance, maybe 2 or possibly 3 a week might work. I'd still proceed with caution even then.

I tried a smoothie w/ ice, atkins chocolate shake and waldens farms peanut butter. It was okay. Not much better than just plain atkins shake. Next time I'm going with heavy cream, protein, and natural peanut butter. WE'll see....
