I am new to using splenda. If a recipe calls for one cup of sugar would you still use the same amount of splenda? Thanks.

I buy the granulated in the box and it says 1 tsp. splenda = 1 tsp. sugar, 1 cup splenda = 1 cup sugar, and so on...check your box, it should tell ya. I also buy the packets for coffee and such. Hope this helps!

Thanks. I have a box a splenda on my grocery list today.

Just a word of caution: Splenda is NOT carb-free. One cup of Splenda has 24 grams of carbs! They sneak up on you quickly!

With Splenda, I always say, "It depends!" Some of my old "sugar" recipes I need WAY less Splenda (like jam for example) and some I find I need a little more.
Also, Splenda does NOT have the same bulk as sugar, so you may get very different results in baked goods. Their website, www.splenda.com - has some good tips for using Splenda in baking.

I find that if a recipe calls for any amount of Spenda I use 1/3 of that amount because I find everything too sweet otherwise.
Bear in mind that splenda in packets is different from splenda granulated. The granulated product has more filler and is fluffier than the packet splenda. It also has more carbs per teaspoon (see below).
I find that in terms of sweetening power, 1 cup of Splenda granular equals 1 cup of sugar. But, it has less bulk than sugar, so the yield for the recipe is less than when you use sugar. I've made the exact same recipe side-by-side using sugar in one and splenda in the other. I would estimate that there is roughly 20% less yield for the Splenda version. Mind you, I think it tastes fine - just you get fewer servings.
This is the nutrition info Splenda's customer support sent to me last spring:
Splenda Granular
1 tsp = 0.5 gm carb = 2 calories
one half cup = 12 gm carb = 48 calories
1 cup = 24 gm carb = 96 calories
*1tsp = 1 serving
Packet of Splenda
1 packet = .9 gm of carb = 4 calories
0 grams of fat, 0 mg. of sodium, and 0 grams of protein per packet.
*1 packet has the sweetness of 2 tsp of sugar
Note: Per U.S. labeling laws, anything with less than 5 calories per serving, is properly labeled as "zero" or no-calorie.

Wow, thank you very much for the lowdown on Splenda. I've really been battling with that one.
Also FYI 24 PACKETS of Splenda equal 1 cup of sugar.
