Oh, I'm in LOVE!! This thing is gorgeous, alright, and cooks like a dream - well, the first meal was all stovetop, as the oven needed to "burn in" for 30 minutes, and the delivery guys didn't get here til 3:02 - aAACCCK! - and then we had a minor circus with a couple episodes regarding the refrigerator and THEN it looked momentarily as if the new stove wouldn't fit in the space formerly occupied by the OLD stove - then after the delivery guys left, I discovered that the dishwasher door couldn't fully open because they hadn't shoved the stove all the way back into the opening, so DH and I goofed around with THAT for nearly an hour after he got home BUT - all in all I am ONE HAPPY CAMPER!!

So anyway I made shrimp scampi which cooked up quickly and tasted yum, tomorrow I'll probably do a pork loin roast to try out the convection oven.

Thanks you all for humoring me while I anxiously awaited the delivery of my new baby!

Bren, I've been referring to it as "she" and "her" so I guess that means it's a GIRL! She's too pretty to be a boy anyway.

Connie, no lie, low carb ONLY for the new baby...

I'm gonna go sit on the couch with the owner's manual and see if I can figure the convection oven part out - I wanna make the chicken saltimbocca tonight - wish me luck!

Char,
Congrats on the new addition to the family. I am green with envy. We just finished remodeling the kitchen but still did not have the space for a 40" stove so we stayed with the old 30" one we had. I have hopes of upgrading in the very near future to a gas model.
Hope the chicken came out well. Have fun with your new toy!!.

Oh boy Char! What a stove! Did you use the convection yet? I haven’t investigated all the low carb deserts yet, but wait until you bake a bunch of cookies in it. Stick in all the racks and do them all at the same time. Fast too.

I don’t know if your manual told you this, but I found that because convection heats so quickly, the surface temperature (where the thermostat sits) reaches its preset before the walls of the oven have a chance to reach the same temperature. I usually wait fifteen minutes or longer after the buzzer goes off before putting the food in to avoid any drastic temperature changes when I open the door. And don’t forget to reduce the heat a little since it is bombarding the food from all directions.

Happy cooking!

Jack

PS did you have to get a new hood?

Hey Jack, thanks for the tips! I plan the inaugural use of the convection tonight when I am gonna do a pork loin roast.

This one is smart enough to actually reduce the temperature by 25* automatically from what you set. It also tells me digitally what temp the oven is up to, so I'm hoping it's accurate, although I may still take your tip and let it go a little longer!

I'm so happy with it thus far....

No, my old hood seems to be doing the job fine for now, it has 4 speeds on it - it's an old copper hood that I suspect was very expensive in its day, which was probably installed when the house was built in 1958! But still going strong!

OK girlfriend, pics! We need pics!

You simply MUST get a few pots boiling and stewing and then take a picture to post. We want to see her in action!
