I have read that some people grind their own.

I order mine from http://www.almondsonline.com/. I've been ordering from them for about 3 years now, and their service is outstanding.

I order 25 pounds and put it in zip-lock bags and store it in the freezer. This amount will last me about a year and with shipping it comes out to $3.64 a pound, which is much cheaper than I can buy whole almonds.

My husband has Crohn's Disease and he can't eat any kind of grain what so ever, so almond flour is what I use to do all my baking for him.

I can get almond flour at Whole Foods in town but it is very expensive.

gilley,
I don't have the tools to grind my own flour, but I put the almonds in the blender and then sift it. I keep doing this until the almonds are completely ground. It's really good in cakes. It doesn't come out as fine as regular almond flour, but it gives whatever you are making texture, lol. Hope this helps.

I don't know if you have Trader Joe's in your area, but they have hazelnut flour at a very reasonable price. Check it out if you can!

I buy almond flour at a local Amish store. It is 1/4 the price than at the grocery. Like $1.59 a lb. I don't if anyone has Amish stores in their area, but if so, check it out.

Renee - I live in Ohio also. What city are you near? Just wondering about that store you mentioned...maybe we have one I have overlooked.

Biddy,
The Amish store I am referring to is on 41 outside of Bainbridge. It's called JR's General Store.
I'd give you their number but since they are Amish they don't have a phone
