Speaking of hard boiled eggs and pealing them, I was home sick yesterday and caught a commercial for a tool to help peal the eggs. The egg was placed on a stand and a large plastic item was placed on top and when you pushed down, the egg popped out the bottom of the stand...

Now has anyone else seen this, and does it really work. I think people are just trying to get more money out of us for stupid products...

I saw it advertised the last 2 week-ends. It's called an "eggstracter". Isn't it amazing? I would love to buy one if it really worked. I know the commercial shows it working, but it doesn't seem possible. I'll wait until someone else buys one and get their opinion.

LOL! Wouldn't it be great if it did work ... I'd be so happy. What a handy tool it would be!

What about storing boiled eggs? If you cook a bunch and want to have them on hand for snacks or lunches, how do you store them in the fridge? Any tips?

I have the same problem with my boiled eggs! I've used white eggs and brown eggs and tried every method mentioned. Sometimes they peel, sometimes they don't!

My boyfriend has tired of my egg frustration and ordered the "eggstractor" for me about a week ago. I'll let you know how it works when it arrives.

I guess if peeling an egg is the most difficult part of this WOE I'm doing pretty good!

After I boil the eggs 15 minutes and let them sit covered and off the heat like everyone has said I rinse in cold water. Then I empty all the water out of the pot and shake the pot with the eggs inside so they bounce around the sides of the pot and crack the shells every which way throughly. Then I peel them under cold running water and only one in a hundred won't peel right. It's a pretty neat trick and I can't remember where I learned it but it really works!

I'm counting on the "eggstractor". They said the typical 6-8 weeks for delivery. I think it's only been 2 or 3 weeks. He ordered it around Valentine's Day. And yes TM, he'll get a big hug if the darn thing works!

Gilley - My Mom always bought jumbo eggs and cooked them the same way and they always came out great. I'm convinced there's a conspiracy and the chickens are messing with us!

Really fresh eggs are very hateful to peel. I "age" them in the refrigerator a week or two before I boil them. I prick the wide end with a clean pin before I boil them, it works great when it's time to peel them.

I bring the eggs to a boil; remove them from the heat immediately. Let them set for 15 minutes, immediately drain and rinse in cold water. Voila, no green yolks!

Fresh eggs are harder to peel.
