i was trying to figure out a good way to make a LC soy protein shake useing yougart (lc) soy protein and some kind of berry.

i tried to do this once and the soy protein got lumpy had a very bad texture to the smoothie.
i was wanting to add the extra soy protein to my diet. and i figured it would probly thicken up smoothie and give it more substance
thanks for any input.maby i could finaly buy some of that Milk & Egg Protein powder wonder if that is usable the same way...

Hi gilley,
I just recently(like last week) started making the soy protein isolate shake. Here's how I do mine. Sometimes, I will half this recipe if I just want a little treat, and it still makes about an 8 oz shake.

Shelley's Shake
1c carb countdown milk 3carbs
1 scoop SPI powder 0 carbs
2T sf Davinci's...any flavor...french vanilla is good
scant 1c of ice cubes

Put carb countdown milk in blender with davinci's and SPI and give it a whirl. Add ice cubes and process until smooth . Pour into tall glass and drink up
total carbs= 3 carbs and it really fills you up.
HTH

is soy protein isolate the same as soy protein powder???/

please tell me that this does not leave a funky texture.. beacuse my soy protein powder left a a lumpy gravy texture.. and i could also descibe it as under cooked gravy ...ya know gritty.. was very unpleasent

Gilley,
soy protein powder and soy protein isolate are the same.
Here's a little primer on soy products.
Soy flour=product made from dried(but not cooked) soybeans.
Soy powder(also known as soy milk powder)= product made from cooked soybeans.
Soy Protein Isolate(also known as soy protein powder)= product made from just the protein which is isolated from the soybean. The last product, SPI, is used often in LC cooking with nice results, unlike the soy flour which can give recipes a bitter taste.

Look on your ingredient list on your can and see. If it's soy proteiin isolate, it will list it first.
Also, mine had the possibility of being lumpy and gritty, so that is why I whirl it with the carb countdown first in the blender, to make it as smooth as possible.
