| I would like some flax seed recipes please. Got lots and would love to try it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Looked in the recipe part, but didn't have time to look at every recipe I thought might have flax seed in it. Thanks! Renee |

| Thought I'd just throw in a few hints in case you haven't used this stuff before! First, you always want to grind it before using it - the seeds are too hard to digest if they are whole. Second, after grinding it, either use it right away or freeze it. Keep the whole seeds in a cool dark place or refrigerate. The oils go rancid fairly quickly at room temp once it's ground. Third, I throw some into a LOT of things - smoothies, muffin mixes, pancakes, hot cereal - even the Mock Danish is great with a tablespoon of flax meal added to it before nuking. Otherwise I'm sure you'll get some specific recipes using it, these are just basic hints from me to you! Char

| I read where a pizza chain called Calzones is making a low carb pizza dough out of flax seed meal. That was about all the information that was given but a lady that ate there with her boy friend and posted on another forum said it was very good. That might be worth kicking around a little bit. Maybe mixing some vital wheat gluten in with some flax meal and a little yeast. I've been thinking of trying to find some flax seed and giving it a try.

| Someone told me to watch flax because it has 9 carbs per teaspoon! I figured it must have tons of fiber tho. My bag is bulk so there is no nutritional information. Anyone know where I can find some recipes? Renee |

| I don't really have recipes, expect my version of flax-o-meal. I bought a coffee grinder from Melita ($19.99) that shoots the grounds into a little container. I can choose the fineness of my grind (I think mine is set of 14). I was told it's best to have the seeds be like a sawdust consistencey, not a fine as pre-ground flax meal you find at the store. I got this kind of coffee grinder, as then I know I am not overheating the seeds. I add: to a fairly large, microwaveable bowl, 2T of my freshly ground flax seed, 2T of oat bran, 2T of pre-ground flax meal (I am trying to use up the little I have). (I am not counting carbs) I add cinnamon, nutmeg, boiling water. I use a wisk to stir. I add a scoop of chocolate mousse flavored whey protein powder and some more hot water. I microwave this for 90 seconds. I take it out, add a bit more water, Stevia plus, and some SF syrup (like Torani or DaVinci), mix and eat. It is very good and filling. I put all the unused seeds/meal back in the freezer when I am done. I don't know if this helps. My package of seeds does have nutritional information, but the package is downstairs and I am not.

| Oh, You may want to check out flax seeds They may have recipes too. Also, Ann Louise Gittleman has a book about using Flax. Her fat flush progran cookbook includes the use of flax.

| We use it like Char does - add it to lots of things. I also keep my whole seeds in the freezer just to be on the safe side. I have a quart jar with the ground seed and a long spoon in it - this stays in the fridge. We sprinkle it on salad, I put a good bit in the Mock Danish (even my kids like it better with the flax seed), mix it into our kefir smoothies too. Check out the recipe section for baked goods and the breakfast cereals - it will be worth the time. You can click on a printable version and zip it off on your printer. I'm liking the sound of that coffee grinder, Kokle!
