I know Sharron is very busy.So if anybody can answer I would love it. I made sharron's carmels this morning and I have a clump of the best tasting carmels but they seperated. There is a oily substance with it too. I'm a very experienced cook and candy maker . I also make my own recipes for canning, so I'm not a novice. What did I do wrong.LC candy is new for me though. Ess...I wish I could help! I have the recipe but have never made them. I'm sure Sharron will be along soon to answer your question...I'll let her know!

Enjoy the clump...lol ! You'll have it right for next time.

to be very honest, I'm not sure why this happens to some folks. It has never happened to either me or Marcie -- and I think we've made them more than anybody.

My only guess previously has been that they were cooked too fast. It should take about an hour, but if you are experienced, then you already know that...

Sorry I can't be of more help

Thanks for you reply. I thought so. I have a very very old stove and it's electric and I haven't used electric in 20 years until 3 months ago. So I'm still getting use to it.I have it on med and it took 30 mins. So I'll turn it down to low and try again. When it cooled a little I mixed it together and they came out great. They are so good. I thought thats what happen I just needed you to say yes. Thanks.I tried to find the other thread and I couldn't sorry you had to repeat this
THanks so much Ess
