Default Ques. about Kookaid

Is it ok to use unsweetened koolaid and add liquid Stevia & liq. Splenda to sweeten it? If so, it wouldn't have any carbs then, right? I know we need mostly water, but maybe once a day or once every other day would be nice.

I don't see it as a problem at all.

Lots of folks use the unsweetened koolaid with the sweetener of their choice to make their own sugar free jello - without the aspartame.

Oh, good. Thanks! We drink mostly water but get tired of just drinking water all of the time & would like other things too. So far we have used caffeine free diet Dr. Pepper (even though I know that has Equal in it), Diet Rite, decaf. tea with liq. Splenda & liq. Stevia, & sometimes I'll add one of the flavored syrups and liq. Stevia & liq. Splenda to water.

Pianomom,
I use Kool-Aid to make my own jello...I got the recipe from Barb Keith, and it is great! I have issues with aspartame, and to have Splenda-sweetened jello is a treat. I also occasionally drink Kool-Aid sweetened with Splenda and SteviaPlus; I just have to remember that it is a special treat and not a staple...in addition to my water, not instead of, ya know?
I think Maggie is right; it's fine in moderation. So, enjoy!!

BTW: Happy Birthday!!!!

I have a devil of a time getting DH to drink plain water, but add a pkt of Koolaid and a teaspoon of my closely-hoarded stash of liquid Splenda concentrate, and he'll drink it right down. Me, I like water, plain and simple, but he gags on it, so I figure this beats all heck out of him drinking only - gasp! - COFFEE all day!

He also LOVES the jello recipe with koolaid, water, gelatine, and the liquid sweetener - I've found you can actually jell 3 cups of liquid with 1 pkt. gelatine and 1 pkt. Koolaid is plenty of flavor. He eats it most every night!

Where can I find the recipe for the jello? I've been buying the sf jello at the grocery store. My hubby & I are both still losing weight. We're both close to our goals now, so we're excited! Thanks for the birthday wishes! Can you believe I'm married to a CPA & my birthday is Apr. 15th!? How weird is that? ha!

P-Mom, my recipe is easy:

1 cup boiling water
1 pkt your choice Koolaid (the unsweetened little packets you can pick up on sale 10 for a buck or two)
1 pkt Knox brand gelatine (I tried a generic brand and it didn't dissolve well at all!)
1 "heaping" teaspoon liquid Splenda concentrate, which is 0 carbs, or the equivalent of whatever sweetener you like - if you use granulated Splenda or Splenda packets, you'll have to count the carbs for it. (edit: You're looking for sweetener equivalent to one cup of sugar.)

Mix those together until the gelatine is dissolved, I use a whisk.

Meanwhile, in a 2 cup measure, put in 1 cup cold water and enough ice cubes to bring the level up to 2 cups total. When the gelatine is dissolved, I spoon the ice cubes into it and stir til they're all melted, then I add the water which is now ice water! Pour into a suitable container (I just use one of those Ziploc 4 cup plastic thingies) and refrigerate til set.

Very easy, you can get whatever flavor you like, and if you are lucky enough to use a 0 carb sweetener you get 0 carb jello!
