Unhappy Granola

I am in LOVE with Flax-o-Meal BUT of course it costs too much. I have Sharon's cookbook but I haven't been able to get all of the nuts and stuff that's needed because all of THAT cost too much. Is there a cheaper way to make the stuff? The only ingredients I find in this is pecans, malitol (I'm one of the lucky ones on this stuff) , canola oil, almonds, wheat bran, flaxseed meal (I have), oats, soy protein isolate (non gmo) (I have this but I don't know if it's the non gmo), flavorings (more than likely cinnamon and things), baking soda, salt, and sucralose (I've got splenda, stevia, and erithryol (siq) haven't really used any of the because I don't have the other ingredients to go with it! haha) Please help I LOVE this stuff!! I can't wait until I get some money to make ALL of the stuff in your cookbook Sharon!

I find most of the ingredients to be expensive, too. I wound up buying a few ingredients per week with the regular groceries. I was able to make the cereal after about 4-6 weeks. Now that I have what I need it lasts a long while. I've been using my supplies over 4 months now and have not had to restock yet. Isn't it ironic that the stuff that's so bad for you is so cheap yet the healthy stuff is expensive. Go figure.

Never tried any of the breakfast cereals. I should cuz I've always loved granola. I agree it would be a little pricey to make but if it lasts that long it would be worth it. How does it store?
Thanks

Have you tried Maggie's granola recipe? You do have to have nuts and seeds for it, but the bulk of the recipe is TVP, which is texturized vegetable protein, and you get it in the health food store in bulk, and it's pretty cheap. I make this often, and it's so filling that a batch lasts a long time. Pretty inexpensive per serving; much cheaper than the ready-made stuff.

You can find the recipe in the database; it's called sorta granola, under breakfast cereals.

I use DaVinci sf syrups instead of the Keto cooler and Splenda; vanilla, caramel or maple are really good. I also substitute unsweetened coconut for the seeds sometimes, and that works well. :fork:
