    Default Nestles Table Cream

Anyone tried this? I bought a can, it is in the ethnic food section. Like a cross between sour cream & whipped cream, although it is not very sweet. It is wonderful on fruit or jello

    Renee,
I'm not familiar with this. What are the ingredients?
Sounds like a canned version of creme fraiche.

I bought it once at Safeway (aka Vons), in the Mexican food section. I think you'd be more likely to find it in a grocery store that caters more to Hispanic shoppers*.

Frankly, I couldn't make up my mind whether I liked it or not. It was not as good as real cream or sour cream or creme fraiche. I don't remember if it is more economical than fresh dairy products, but I suspect it's appeal is greater in situations where refrigeration is an issue.

PS *I'm in California, and different Safeway stores stock shelves depending on the ethnic mix of the local population. When I asked about LC tortillas last year, the manager recommended I go to a Safeway a few miles away "...which carries at least 30 to 40 ~more~ brands of tortillas than we carry". LOL, the local Safeway has at least 20 different brands of tortillas, so imagine - 60 to 70+ different types of tortillas! Whew! Who knew?

I have this stuff! It's called "Nestle Media Crema" and under that it says "Table Cream" - I'm pretty sure I got it at Smart & Final which is the same as Cash & Carry in some areas.

I haven't opened it yet. It came in a 3 pack. Each can is 7.6 fl. oz.

    Per serving (1 Tbsp.) - 35 calories, 4 grams fat, 10 mg sodium, 0 carb, 0 protein.

    Ingredients: Light cream, disodium phosphate

    Made in Mexico

I bought it for some day when I wanted some sour cream but didn't have any on hand - I'll have to give it a try!

I think I've gotten something like this at a middle eastern market. Same kind of stuff. My Iranian friend said they used it all the time.

Thanks for mentioning this. I'll have to look for it, since I'm having a 'thing' lately for sour cream. This might be a nice change.
