Are cherries a good fruit to eat on a LC WOE?

I looked it up, 10 cherries (fresh) have about 11.25 carbs, didn't give an fiber count which you could subtract. So I'd say a couple cherries would be good

This is going to depend where you are in your woe.

If you're on induction, I'd say no.

Cherries don't have much in the way of fiber. They are just about 1 net carb PER CHERRY. That's a bit on the higher side compared to berries. '

Here are some NET totals by weight (100 grams EDIBLE portion)

    100 grams Cherries w/o pits = 14 carbs
    100 grams raspberries = 6 carbs
    100 grams blueberries = 12 carbs
    100 grams strawberries = 5.5

As you can see, pound for pound, strawberries are best followed closely by raspberries. But, if you're doing well and have been lcing for awhile, a few cherries now and then won't hurt!

I LOVE cherries! ... and I eat them ... just not the way I used to: Going through a pound or so, while sitting on the porch, reading & spitting the seeds over the railing, wondering if a tree will grow. Now I buy them 10 at a time, picking out the 10 most perfect cherries - dark, shiny and still firm. I still sit on the porch but do NOT read while I'm eating them. I want nothing to distract me from the pure pleasure of eating one of my favorite fruits. Oh, yeah, and I have a piece of cheese first, to slow down the impact.

If I want more, I have to go to the store again, and my natural dislike of shopping puts some limits on how many times I'll get to the store during cherry season. I did eat them during OWL in the same manner. Limit: 10 per shopping trip.

    Works for me.

really good idea... i know i used to be picky about the ones i would get when i ate them by the BAG full..(ow,,, pain) but if i KNEW i would have only 10.. i might pay attention to each and every bite.. we once bought a huge BAG of them while traveling and when we got to the state line they wouldnt allow us to take em with... so we parked and ate the whole huge bag right there and then..*L* LOVE cherries.. mmmmmmmmmm

They may not be high in fiber, but they are very LOW on the glycemic index scale. http://www.diabetesdigest.com/dd_nutrition2.htm

I am like Maggie, though -- I have them as part of my meal (dessert! ) and only have 6 to 12 at a time.

I just brought 4 bagsful home from the fruit and veggie market at 88 cents per pound! They stay in the fridge we keep in the garage for overflow of fruits, veggies and eggs, and I don't have any problem with being a piggie on them

I, alas, am not as strong. They are my ruination - the only saving grace is that it's such a short season.

    I adore cherries....

That doesn't even begin to express how much they delight me and thrill me!

I canned and froze about 35 lbs; but I could not forebear the crunchy, juicy, sweet tingle fresh cherries.... I am relieved that the season of temptation is nearly done.

    Give me strength...

LOL, Teelbee! There are certainly much WORSE things to be tempted by, and indulge in!!

We've been eating them lately too. Hey, this is a WAY OF LIFE, not "denial to the max" - and within reason, we can eat our cherries and enjoy them. Even DH has been good about only eating a dozen or so instead of a basketfull!
