Default Q-Smart bar from Quaker

Most of the "snack" bars out there have so much sugar alcohol in them that they give me digestive problems. But, my local grocery started stocking Quaker Q-Smart bars this week. The flavor is cranberry-almond and they're just fine. Made from a soy-rice crisp, soy nuggets, and a lot of other stuff. A 1-oz bar has 8g total carbs, 2g fiber, 1g sugar, 3g sugar alcohol (lactitol and maltitol.) 120 cals. 86 cents apiece in a box of five. I'll use 'em as an occasional treat or when I'm exercising.

Sounds good! Even if you count the sugar alcohols it's still only 6 net carbs.

Take a good look at that other stuff. I can't recall exactly but there's something there that's a no-no (corn syrup? partially hydrogenated oil?)

I saw these at Sam's Club today, and they had chocolate peanut butter and the cranberry almond flavors. They do have hydrogenated oils in them; but, as far as bars go, they look better than a lot of them out there. The cranberry almond ones don't have any sugar alcohols that I could see, but I could be wrong there.
I passed on them, myself, but they could be a fairly good option.

I'm not sure if those are the ones I picked up at Albertson's yesterday - the reason I'm not sure is I put them right back on the shelf as soon as I saw they contained "fractionated palm kernel oil" and I think they had partially hydrogenated stuff in them too. I try really hard not to ingest those nasty fats if I can avoid them!

Have you tried the new Advantage Golden Oats granola bar? It's my favorite bar out there. (I haven't liked the other advantage bars & didn't much care for the berry granola one but love the golden oats one)

I took another look at the ingredients today.

The second ingredient listed is rice starch and rice flour.
