he he he

I knew you would want to know

Well, I'm on day 9 now. My SIL does her's a week, but my new baby wasn't thick enough. I also have mine in a dark cupboard, so that could be the difference. I'm going to wait until the baby is thick enough before I strain it.

I actually have an extra jar full of babies that she sent home with me cuz' ds got a bee sting. I need to have the tea to ship it. My SIL gave me shipping instructions. I should be able to send some in a few days actually!!!

OK, I have enough to send out starters to 2 people. Either send me an email or pm and we'll work it out.

Ok, I've got one taker. I have one baby left to send. I'll be sending them out this afternoon, Lord willing. If I don't hear from a second person, it will be another week to 10 days before I can ship another one.

Here's a link for the recipe once you do get your baby. http://www.earthcalls.com/kombucha/page5.shtml#B These guys charge $20 for theirs. All I'm asking for is shipping, as we do with kefir grains -- which, btw, I have plenty of those as well!!! :great:

PS: I just noticed in that link I gave they say to use ACV for starter. You won't need to do that since I'm going to send starter with it...

You know, I noticed that the day I had a few ounces before each meal, I had a woosh. I'm going to have to keep tabs on this...

I've not sent it yet, though it is sitting and waiting on the counter for me to do so. I'm waiting for the confirmation from the 2nd person. I think I'll just go ahead and send it since they haven't sent me their address.

A few things I've learned: Don't dry them or freeze them. They aren't like kefir babes -- they won't revive. They have to remain at room temperature in their medium to stay alive.

However, it is said that you can dry the extra ones and give them to your dogs as chewy toys

COOL!!!! If it whooshes, there will be a ton of people wanting it, ya know. Whenever you get around to sending it is okey dokey with me. I know you've got a lot going on. I'm busy with my b-day bash here, so no rush. I have a jar ready for it though. And DH drinks lots of tea (with sugar so I have that ready too.) I like it when it gets bubbly. I think I will sweeten it with stevia when I'm ready to drink it daily.

Sharron you are a peach!!! Thank you so much!!!!

Ok, my 2nd person (Celeste) responded with her address. That is all I have for this week. I'll have more in a week or so...

I can't ship on Saturday since my PO is closed. I'll try to get them out to y'all on Monday :great:

Ok, my big issue is I like it more than 3/4 gallon a week!

Ya know, if it's agreeing with you and it's breaking your stall, what the hey, drink more. Just work your way up and not all at once. Isn't it just the best stuff? When I was making it before I would gulp down a whole cup at a time.

No, you misunderstand -- I want more! I might have to brew 2 jugs a week instead of one

I'm just limiting myself to 2-4 ounces because I want it to last!

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!! Well before you know it, you'll be up to your eyeballs in scobies. They aren't quite as bad a tribbles, or kefir babies, but they multiply at a pretty good rate too. You of course only get one baby per batch. But heck, that can be up to 3 babies per month!!!!!

Well, 2 of my babies just made their ways to parts afar. Barb and Celeste, yours are on their way!!!

Patti, I didn't ever get a reply from you. Let me know if you still want one. I can send one off later this week if you do

I think I might need to start a 2nd jar. My SIL gave me a whole small jar of babies in case of bee stings, but I think I could use one to start, say, a pickle jar sized batch

:great:

I just checked mine last night and it definitely was too sweet for my tastes! I let it go 10 days last time. My SIL allows her's to rest a week between batches, but I've not read anything that suggests that is necessary. I think it is just that there are only the 2 of them drinking it at their home and a gallon is too much in a week.

I'm using turbinado sugar in mine. I figure if I'm going to have to have real sugar in the house, it should at least be as "natural" as possible.

Don't worry. It's hidden where no one even knows that we own it
