| Hi Everyone, Does anyone know anything about the above subject. With all my health problems I am gradually being led back into the hay diet. It is years and years since I read anything about this and I can't remember much. I don't really want to buy any more books at this stage, although I will probably end up doing so if I can't find out anything on my own. If anyone knows of any links or the basics or any recipes even, I will be eternally grateful. Thanks, love Louloo. x

| Louloo~ I typed "hay diet" into a search engine (Google) and was relieved to see that this is an eating plan advocated by the late Dr. William Hay. (I won't even tell you what I was thinking). At first glance, it looks a bit similar to Somersizing, where part of the program is to try to regulate your body's reaction to food by eating in particular patterns - fruit by itself, protein separate from carbs, etc. I think if you do a search, you'll bring up lots of info. Best wishes, Sky Atkins since 8/02 196/144/under 150 |

| Hi, Louloo! Sorry to hear you are still having problems! I'm with Sky on this one! I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to eat hay! Yuck. LOL! I still hope you can get an enzyme panel run and see if you're short anything. A girl at one of my accounts was preaching to me about eating meat...she's a vegetarian, except she eats chicken and fish and eggs. Anyway, she was saying that she found in her research that if we eat different food group together, an argument begins in our pancreas. The different enzymes will fight over who should go do the digestive work. When I did MY research, I found that if you were to eat a cheeseburger for instance, your body can identify what all is in it, and your pancreas sends in what is needed. Like protease for the meat, lipase for the fat, amylase for the bun, and lactase for the cheese. A squirt of each from the pancreas and you're fine. I, personally, don't have much amylase, so I supplement. Louloo, you have been trying to find a diet that agrees with you for some time! I'm so glad you've not given up! Keep us posted, okay?

| Hi Sky and Maxibee, LOL, I like the bit about the hay and what it might be for, ha-ha. I have typed it into google and came up with loads of stuff, but a lot of it contradicts one another. I did it years ago but can't remember much about it. It makes sense to me because FRUIT alone can cause all sorts of problems when eaten with other foods. I am still trying to find the right plan for me Maxi, but not having a lot of success. The IBS is playing me up rotten and I am sticking to little and often. White bread has been advised and low fat and low carb is supposed to be out of the window.......I don't know what to do next, my doctor doesn't want to know. I liked the elimination diet but it didn't like me.....it was too strict. So I came across this one in my search for the perfect diet....and I am stuck again. Thanks for your input. I will certainly keep in touch, it was nice 'talking' with you again. Take care, love Louloo. x

| Thanks April. The opinions about this Hay Diet are worse than they used to be about Atkins in his early days. I felt well on LC, then I started mucking around with all the different plans and have since got myself into a right state with IBS. I have no real control over it at all, so that is why I am looking into all these different things. I am not losing any weight at the moment, but I am not putting any on either, so that is a plus. Trouble is I need to stick at one thing and stay with it. I wish my doctor was more supportive.......he doesn't believe in low carb, he only believes in low fat, and we all know what that does to us, don't we? LOL I have not read anything really positive about the Hay diet, so that is another idea that I am going to file. I think that I will re-read some of my low carb books....maybe Schwarzbein, and see where I go from there. If I had not been told that I had Candida I would have stayed with the Paleo WOE...this was really suiting me and my surgeon says that it is THE most healthy WOE around. Because I was eating nuts and other things that are not good if you do have Candida, this is where I came unstuck. Perhaps I aught to ignore this fact as again, my doctor says that having Candida is a load of rubbish......one other thing that turns me away from Paleo is that there is no active support for it......everyone seems to have done a disappearing act.........maybe I will try and revive it, what do you think? thanks again, love Louloo. x

| Hi Yes, I know about Hay food combining. I was on it for two years a couple of years ago then lapsed under too much stress. I started on it again 2 weeks ago. I've started it because I have been told I have arthritis and spondylitis (at only 37!). And this diet is reckoned to be good for these conditions (amongst others). You cant fail to be healthy on it as you eat so much fruit and veg! Whether it stops the pain I currently have is a matter to be seen. Jill |
