Hey Glo!
My scale moved too this am...only down 1 pound, but hey, better than goin' the other way...
Yep....on to day 2....doing good on the water, and got a roast beef in the oven for dinner and snacks for the week.
My goal of 1300 cal may not be realistic, we'll see if I can get there I was over that yesterday and also a little high on the protein also; came in at 20g on the carbs though.
alrighty then.....

Thumbs up Re: Counting Carbs and Calories

Count me in, Guys! I got started yesterday after Shelley and I talked, and I'm not doing too bad so far. Like the rest of you, I was disgusted with my lack of progress, although, as Shell will tell you, I'm not thrilled at having to count calories again. But, whatever it takes. I'm looking forward to being a part of this, and getting lots of help and support. (Probably going to need it!)

I was thinking though, even though I need/have to count calories, at least the calories I get to eat taste GREAT! :great:

YAY Maz...
glad you found us here. The way I look at counting the calories...if that was what was stalling me out and I didn't know it, then it's a pretty easy fix, ya know? I would hate to try a ka-zillion other things and STILL be stalled, only to find out 6 months later...duh...oh yeah, I was eating to many calories...LOL
I'm pretty sure that is my problem...so I'm determined to fix it!
So, C'mon and hang out here with us and let's see if we can all weigh less by the end of the month

Yeah Maz!!! Glad to have you on board. I feel like I have finally taken control by portion control and counting calories. As I added up what I have been eating the last few days I realized that my calories were out of control. Thinking back to the last six months of frustration - I started counting what I would have eaten in a "normal" day and WOW was I shocked. This just might be the ticket to get the scale moving in the right direction. My goal is to not go over 1800 calories a day. I have been averaging 30 - 60 carbs. I'll stick with this for now and if I have to adjust my carbs/calories in the future, the scale will let me know!
Cindi - you are so right, the calories I have been eating taste great! I hope you keep us up to date with your progress!

Hi, CCC gang!

Count me in too. I've been trying to get up the gumption to start tracking my food intake with fitday.com again, and you all have done it for me. I started today.

I'm trying to keep my calories to 1800, protein to 105 grams, see where carbs land with my 9-a-day plan for veggies/fruits.

I tend to severely over-indulge in nuts, and having to record on fitday everyday is the best help for restraining myself.

I'm still paleo - no grains, beans, potatoes, dairy, or sugar (or sugar alcohols or AS).

Good luck to all. This will be a great month.

Welcome Alice!!! So glad you have made the choice to join us! I also find that recording everything in fitday has helped with portion control and mindless snacking. We now have an official CCC group! I hope to see more hop on board!

I think counting calories is just another way of saying - reduce portion sizes. At least for me. I have a problem with eating too much meat some days (ok many days). If I make 6 chicken legs for dinner thinking to have 3 or 4 leftover I'm lucky if there's 2 left. Anyway my calories yesterday were only a little over 1500 that's a start to making up for Sunday's 3000. I'm aiming for about the same number today.

Go Rob! So glad you are coming along with all of us. CCCing keeps us honest with ourselves. For me, it is so easy to "fudge" a little with portion sizes when I am not logging everything on Fitday. The one thing that I have found is I was eating more carbs than I thought I was.

BTW Rob - Are you bracing for Alex in your area?

Well, hey everybody,
Sounds like we are getting a few more *bodies* to join in...this will help keep us all in line, no doubt I am having a bit more of a hard time keeping those cals, fat gm and pro gms down than I thought I would LOL.
Water intake is still good(> 108 oz so far today), so at least that is something I can feel good about
I will post my totals in my journal. Will check in again tomorrow.....

Alex is no longer a threat to where I am. We're 200+ miles from the coast, so hurricanes lose much of their force if they even make it this far west. But not always, so we're always watchful.

Okay this is working! Between monday and tuesday's calories and carbs I've made up for Sunday excess. My average is now 2019 calories and 42 net carbs.
Did my usual wednesday morning sneak preview of my weight and I'm down 2 pounds. But this is unoffical and Sunday will be the real test.

WTG Rob! I was down another .5 pound this morning. I even found that I didn't snack after dinner because I didn't want to have to log it on Fitday LOL! This is also helping me track my water intake. I have been averaging around 1500 to 1600 calories without evening trying. I am just sticking with eating good balanced meals. I have found that I am very aware about the portion size. Before counting calories, I would "eyeball" it. This morning I packed some nuts to have with my lunch and I measured out exactly 1/4 cup. Wow, I must have been eating at least one cup at a sitting and that is over 800 calories! I would have nuts almost every night when DH and kids were snacking. I will not do that anymore.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Keep up with CCC!

I did it! I got yesterday logged into fitday. Here are my stats: calories, 1452; fat grams, 85; protein, 105; carbs, 79 total, 35 fiber, net, 44.

Here is a list of veggies/fruit I ate. 8 c. leaf lettuce, 10 cherry tomatoes, .25 cup cooked tomato, .75 c. raspberries, 5 slices peach, 1 c. broccoli, .25 c. grated carrot, 1 c. grated daikon radish, .5 c. chopped parsley, .25 c. kelp (arame).

I was very satisfied with my nutrition report on fitday.

I was successful in limiting myself to 1/4 cup hazelnuts. (Yay!)

I know I have to be patient and see what happens with my weight, but I am wondering if my carbohydrate level is too high for losing. I felt nice and full on under 1500 calories, and I'm enjoying my nine-a-day.

I've been sporadic with both walking and water intake, so I have to work on those areas too.

Rob, I see your carb level is about the same, so I can take hope from the fact that you are losing.

Thanks for being here, all of you.

Alice

I just went through the last few days of my food journal and I checked the fiber/carbs for the day. I didn't even realize that I am averaging around 30 to 35 carbs. I am doing better than I thought! I haven't even eaten 1000 calories today and I have already had dinner. I have enough left for a possible treat tonight. Maybe I will make a Mock Danish. Right now, though, I don't even feel hungry. Oh well, I am off to fill the water bottle!

This morning the scale once again moved in the right direction! This is really working - how is everyone else doing? Last night, I didn't have my treat. I had some pineapple orange crystal light. Very yummy and it satisfied the desire for something "sweet".
